Looking for your best Star Wars Weekend Hints!

QuickGold- What are the events that have to be signed up for in the morning?
The trivia challenges for both adults (Tatooine Trivia Trials) and children (Padawan Mind Challenge).

Do the time guides tell you where to go and sign up?

Just clarifying, the wristbands are for real actors? If we just want autographs and pictures with Darth, Bobo Fett, Ewoks etc we just stand in line at the meet and greets, correct?

Is the SWW parade in addition to or instead of the Stars and Motorcars Parade? If a separate event, what time is it?

The wristbands are for the real actors...last year, the SWW parade was at noon and the Stars & Cars Parade was in the late afternoon--I think either 3 or 4?

QuickGold will correct me if I'm wrong, I hope!

Karla B. :goodvibes ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo Family ready for our 2nd SWW!!! :yoda:

The SW parade was a full-on "SW only" parade - all of the characters were in it, as well as the Rebel forces and an "army" of storm troopers - we LOVED it! The 'special guests' were also in the parade in cars. Last year (on 6/10 weekend) the SW parade was at 11:15 and the Stars and Cars parade was at 5:30.
There were a lot of meet and greets set up throughout the park - we never had any problem (beside standing in line in the heat!) getting a pic or autograph that we wanted (and DNeph wanted them all) - I like the way they post a time/character at most of the spots so you can plan and come back.

jeankeri - last year you signed up on the far side of Indiana Jones at 9 AM for the kid's trivia event - I'm sure if they change it that Matt will let us all know what they're doing this year after the first weekend.

We are going to be there for the opening weekend. As I'm sure all days will be crowded, which day do you think will be the least crowded?

Matt, your MGM SWW site is awesome!! I check it daily for the '06 events. Can you tell us if there is an age limit/range for the Jedi Training and the Padawan Mind Challenge activities? Thanks for all of the useful information.

I am in the process of making costumes for my DS8 and myself. I am trying to make the coolest (as in temperature), lightest weight and most natural fibered outfits as possible 'cuz I know it will be hot! But I am so excited because DS won't know why we are there until we arrive. He should be ecstatic!!

Yes, they do but I'll tell you anyway; You'll find a table between the entrances to Indiana Jones and Star Tours. That is where you can sign up as well as get general SWW info.

You are indeed correct. The real actors require the wristbands whereas if you want to meet the characters, you simply line up near them. Darth Vader and Jedi Mickey will have permanent locations for meet-n-greets for the entire day whereas other characters (Chewy, Bobba Fett, et al) will show up at various times throughout the day.

It replaces the normal parade so it's at whatever time is listed for parades: http://www.mgmstudios.org/hours

Friday will be the least crowded, but that's relative as it should be crowded the entire time. Sat and Sun you get more locals.

Thank you for the compliments! :teeth: The Jedi training is chosen on the spot so it's up to the guy picking to determine age. I suspect anyone who looks to be younger than a teenager could be chosen. As I've said before, anyone under 4 will not understand and any child over 8 or so will find it boring.

The Tatooine Trivia Trials are for ages 12 and up and the Padawan Mind Challenge is for kids 11 and under.

Going to my first SWW on May 19 and 20th. Maybe it won't be as crowded the first weekend? :confused3 Thanks for the great tips! :thumbsup2

I've gotta know more! We'll be there the last weekend, I'm sure lots of the souvies will be sold out, but it's a surprise trip for my DS6 and I think he'll just be excited by the experience!

FYI, for those who will be going on the weekend following Memorial Day: normally the Friday has the lowest crowds, but this year the slow day may be Sunday because of traffic caused by Gay Week.

The Studios is the "park of the day" on Friday, June 2 for the Gay Week attendees, which will drive up numbers in general, though I don't know how many of them will be seriously into the SWW events. Sat, June 3 is Gay Day at MK, which drives up attendance at the other parks because of severe crowding at MK.

Make sure to get your picture made with Jedi Mickey. It was a highlight in our trip last year for me. I think my DW and DS enjoyed it too?. :confused3 :rotfl2:

I would say to wait in line for the characters. We skipped the characters that had the longest lines last year and we regret it now. I'd say put the time and effort into waiting to meet all the characters that you want.

Quickgold - the SW parade does NOT replace the regular parade of the day. There are two - one SW in the a.m. and the Stars and Cars in the p.m.

You are correct, sorry about that. I was looking at the events guide from last year and it didn't mention the afternoon parade so I forgot about it. There are 2 parades during SWW, a regular one and the SW parade.

Also, the rumor about Jedi Training showing up before SWW, is true. I had it confirmed today. More info at http://sww.mgmstudios.org/main

Thanks for confirming the jedi training, Matt!! Will you post the scheduled times and procedure as soon as it starts? (of course you will! :thumbsup2 )
I will now change my plans for the umpteenth time so that we can run over on our arrival day (a thurs, not a SWW day) and see if DNeph can battle Darth Vader - even better for us, since he was chosen to battle Darth Maul last year and soooo wanted Darth Vader - and one less thing for us to try to cram into our one and only day for SWW this year! :darth:

I was thinking of park-hopping over to MGM on the last night of Star Wars Weekends on June 11. We have a dinner res. at our resort at 6pm and I figure we should be done between 7 to 7:30. We should be to MGM no later than 8pm.
Will the event still be going on. We really aren't that interested in autographs but would love to see the SW's characters. I figured a lot of people at this time would be heading over to see the Fantasmic show (which we have a Fantasmic dinner scheduled for the next night). :scratchin :scratchin :scratchin

We are going to be at disney from sunday night May21 until sunday am. May 28th.
I was planning on attending mgm on the saturday may 27th but just found out the star wars weekends go on the friday 26th also. Is this because it's a long weekend in the usa? Is the friday the holiday?
Now I wonder if we should plan on doing mgm on the Friday instead of Saturday? If so I need to change some ADR's.
What would anyone suggest?
I have a dd11 :chewy: ds8 :darth:

What are the chances that they will extend SWW this year? We really can't make any weekends til after 6/15. When do they usually announce an extension? Thanks
