Here's my thing. We will be going to WDW next month. It will be my wonderful wife and I, out 2 boys (DS4) (DS6) my brother and his wife, their 2yr old, and also my mom. We will be staying at the Beach Club and this will be my sister in law and nephew's first time at Disney. I don't exactly hang out a whole lot with my brother and his wife and would like to do something a little extra just to make it a tad more special and am open to any and all ideas. Depending on when we do it, my wife's cousin will be down with her husband and 3 children also and would love to include them. If you can think of anything you may have done on one trip that you will always remember but not too many people know about it PLEASE speak up or forever hold your peace! Thank you!!! :worship:

are you thinking for all of you....or just the kids??
For kids....some resorts have the Pirate Adventure for the kids, it's about 30.00 per child open to 3 years and up. Really fun for them!!
Pirates League or Bibbity Bobbity Boutique are always fun!
A character meal is always fun...

If you are thinkng for eveyone...what about a wishes cruise? MK Dessert party?
Doing the Kim Possible scavenger hunt at Epcot!

I'm thinking we definitely have to do the Pirates League, the kids will love it. The dessert party was another thing I was thinking of but I'm just not sold on it yet.

The cruises look like a good time but I really want to be closer to the castle when wishes is going on plus my mom gets sea sick VERY easy and I'm not looking for that kind of pixie dust in my hair :rotfl2:

I want something that we can all enjoy, both kids and adults. I'm trying to come up with the one thing we'll talk about 2 years from now and remember how we had a blast doing it.

It's funny, but when my kids met Captain Jack last year for the Pirate Tutorial, it didn't cost us a dime and yet that was the most memorable thing about the whole week (well, that and the fact that we were there on Gay Day and I was unknowingly wearing my RED Fab5 T-shirt but I digress.)

Hoop dee Doo Review would be my suggestions...great laughs for the whole gang.

Dinner at Whispering Canyon can be a lot of fun for adults and kids alike, particularly if you get a good waiter/waitress, it can be a very memorable evening.
Don't tell anyone ahead of time about the ketchup, and secretly tell your waiter that your bother is extremely thirsty and needs the largest size drink he can get.

Haven't been recently but 50's Prime Time Cafe can also be a great time with the right Waiter/Waitress. We still talk about our first time there probably over 7 or 8 years ago.

Getting a Kitchen Sink (or 2) at Beaches and Cream.

Im not sure if you qualify as a grand gathering when one of the eight people is a two year old. But with your cousins family included you will have more than enough people. You could do a safari celebration dinner. Or a good morning breakfast gathering at the magic kingdom.

I am going to second going to the Hoop dee Doo Review for the dinner show one night. We did this on a family trip with our family, DH's sister, DH's parents and his grandma...and it was a lot of fun! The comedy is cheesy but entertaining and dinner was great! If you think you won't like the "Hee Haw" style comedy or don't want to spend the $$ for a dinner show, then another suggestion would be 1900 Park Fare. It is a buffet at the Grand Floridian, but Cinderella, Prince Charming, the step-mother and step-sisters are there. The step-sisters were hysterically funny and we had fun there as well. :goodvibes

The only other thing that I can suggest is a photo session at the Grand Floridian. With your extended family there, it would be a great souvenir from the trip. You could schedule the session and then everyone could buy their own pictures as a keepsake of the trip.

You already picked the best hotel and they have a great pirate outing for kids but book in advance since they sell out quickly. How about a carriage ride through Fort Wilderness? I don't think anyone would get seasick on the boats to watch fireworks, not like the ocean.

Did you think about mini-golf? Winter/summerland is supposed to be really easy, so little frustration for the tiny's.
You could also look to see if you could get pictures of each member of the party wearing certain hats at the stores or in a certain pose in different places around the World.

We did the Family Magic Tour one visit and it was so much fun! You have fun while on the hunt walking through several areas of MK, then get private time with a character at the end. When we went, we met/took pictures w/ Peter Pan in a secluded area in MK. He then walked the children to Mickey's Philharmagic and sat with them in the show. Here is the description and according to the site, it's $34/person:

Disney's Family Magic Tour invites Guests to join their family and friends on a 1 ½ to 2-hour guided interactive quest to save Magic Kingdom theme park from the dastardly plans of a Disney Villain.

Guests of all ages welcome, however the tour is best for guests ages 4 to 10 years.

Your tour guide needs your help as your tour group searches high and low for clues in this adventure through Magic Kingdom theme park. Unlike most tours, your party will play an active role in the experience as you put on your detective hat, follow tricky clues, solve diabolical puzzles and engage in a lively scavenger hunt.

Adults and children of all ages will enjoy Disney's Family Magic Tour. Be sure to bring your camera to capture some unique memories.

Magic Kingdom theme park admission is required and is not included in the price of the tour. Please keep in mind that Disney's Family Magic Tour is an outdoor tour, so be sure to check the weather report and dress appropriately.

I'm loving these ideas guys, thank you! I've never heard of the family tour but I think that sounds like a blast! Gonna run that one by the boss and see what she said:thumbsup2

Character meals, Hoop Dee Doo, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise, the Wishes Fireworks Dessert party!! The dessert party was a bit expensive but no waiting in a good spot for a long time, access to snacks, drinks and a bathroom, and primo view of the castle.

I also liked CRT for the fact that you got to eat in the castle. A lot of people don't even know you can do that. We didn't until last year and everyone we told about it was surprised to find out you could do it!
