My husband's birthday is coming up, and he's mentioned before that he thought these were neat. I know it probably won't save a lot of money or anything, but I'd still be willing to get it for him if it's easy to use and the flavors actually taste good. Any experiences?

I got this for DH thinking it would be great. However, ALL the soda flavors have sorbitol so they all taste "diet" no matter the flavor! Yuck! Honestly, it was a dud for us. DH used it once, wasn't impressed and now it sits in the basement.

THIS! I love my sodastream but that is because I wanted it to make Italian sodas and not to replace regular pop, which I find to sweet anyway. The unit comes with a sample pack of flavors and they all have sorbitol which I do not like at all. I go to world market and buy different syrup flavors (raspberry, cherry, blood orange) and mix that with the fizzy water that the soda stream makes and I am happy. William Sonoma makes a root beer and a cola that is pretty good but not exactly like traditional pop.

We have a 10 pound CO2 tank with fittings for a pop bottle. We get real Coca Cola product syrups at Sam's Club. Makes real Coke for pennies!

So do they taste like regular diet sodas or do they have a weird taste that's unique to them? We're diet soda drinkers, so I'm trying to figure out if it would be something we would be used to.

I use it to make flavored seltzer and plain seltzer (for chocolate egg creams ..YUM)

Can't tell you about the diet flavor... but I can tell you it is very easy to use!

We have a SodaStream. We like it mostly for flavored water (there are flavoring bottles available- natural flavors with no sweeteners). The sodas all do have either Splenda alone or a mix of Splenda and sugar, but to me, they don't tase weird. The "diet" flavors are Splenda, and the "regular" flavors are a mix of Splenda and sugar, so they have a lot less calories than non-diet canned sodas. I like the Diet Pink Grapefruit, Lemon-Lime, Cherry Cola, Ginger Ale, and Cranberry-Raspberry sodas. DH and DD love the Energy drink- they say it tastes like Red Bull. There are around 40 or so flavors available on the SodaStream website.

The CO2 canisters are available at BB&B (and other places)- turn in the empty canister and get a full one for around $15. Each canister has enough fizz to make 60 liters of soda. The soda mixes are mostly $5- each bottle has enough to flavor 12 liters. They can really save $$ for folks who drink a lot of soda and/or fizzy water. Also, no more lugging cases of soda home from the store, and no more bins full of empty cans/bottles.

I work at BB&B and we have a soda stream in the break room, I have tried all the flavors but prefer the flavored water.

I love my SodaStream. The syrups do taste different (particularly the colas) from the "brand names" but they do taste good... you just have to get used to the fact that they might not taste exactly how you're expecting. The only flavor I've tried that I don't like is Pete's Choice (Dr Pepper) - it has a very strange aftertaste to it.

I prefer the "fruity" flavors, mixed at about 1/3 to 1/2 strength. Yummy, and not too overpowering! Also makes the syrup bottles last a long time!
