We are trying to decide between Boma and Tusker House for dinner...which one do people suggest?

What are your opininions on the food choices? Are the menus comparable? If so, who has the better selection?

I don't want to make my decision based on Zebra Domes, but I'm about too :rotfl2: TIA!!!

Surely my fellow DISers have an opinion on the these two places??? :confused3

They are comparable, in my opinion. Boma is cool b/c of AKL and Tusker is neat b/c of AK. The menus are similar. The service we had at Tusker was not so great, and Boma was better but still not good - but I am basing that on the times we were there (Boma on New Year's Day and Tusker during Spring Break). The atmospheres are different - Tusker more of a safari lodge/camp feel with neat artifacts on the walls and Boma is more open with a more sleek/modern looking interior. The only challenge with Tusker is the hours for AK, it may limit your dinner time options depending on what time of year you will be there.

It also depends on where you are staying. AKL is a little isolated, so keep that in mind, too. The "journey" to AKL can take considerably more time from the Contemporary.

I think both were good and we will try each one again. Hope this helps.

We prefer Boma over Tusker House. More to choose from at Boma's more relaxed feel to it. Tusker House just didn't do it for us MHO

Thank you for your comments! We figured that we would be at AK for a couple hours and then jet over to AKL for Boma ressies and then try to make it over to DHS for the Osborne lights...

If we have ressies at 4:30 at Boma, eat for an hour...think we could make it to DHS by 6pm? Or am I being over confident in WDW transportation?

Thanks again!!! Anyone else???

That time frame might be pushing it. It could happen, but you might want to give yourself extra time.

We went to Tusker House, only for breakfast, and it was delish!! I would love to try dinner there sometime.

Good luck!

I have had both...Boma in 2006 and 2004 and just got back from another Disney trip where we tried Tusker House for the first time (last week!)
Both restaurants are among my favorite Disney ones...so , to me, you really can't go wrong. I thought the menus both provided lots of options. Every time I ate at these restaurants , I ate with not-so-adventurous eaters and they all found things that they liked. There were also some unique soups, stews, and side items at both places. Both are great! I would choose based on where you want to be at that time of day...at the park or at the lodge.

Great to hear good reviews of Tusker House. We love Boma and are trying Tusker House for the first time this trip, so I'm glad to hear it's comparable.

I thought Tusker House was a counter service restaurant? Has it changed? What are the counter service options in AK?
