looking for opinions -- CBR or CSR?

Thanks Everyone- we appreciate your opinions. As of right now-- we are leaning towards CSR...I think knowing that we have a car there helps with our decision. We love Character meals.. so we plan on driving to other resorts and eating in the parks quite a bit.

I posted originally because one of my friends stayed at CSR and she said she wouldn't do it again.. but I am thinking it must really help to try and get in a building close to the main pool and restaurants.

thanks again!

Each resort has its fans and detractors---and, for each fan/detractor, the reason may have little to do with the resort itself. It all depends on their stay.

When people ask me about moderate preferences, I ask them a few questions: Would you like to have a smaller, more compact resort? If so, then go POFQ. If you really want to have a sit-down restaurant in easy reach, then *don't* go to POFQ. If resort amenities (business services, fitness center, etc.) or more upscale food (in quality and price), or a slightly more sophisticated/adult environment are important, then go with CSR.

If none of these apply, just pick the one with the theme you like, and enjoy! It's hard to go wrong.

:surfweb: HI, we have stayed at both, the CBR summer of 2005 and at CSR summer of 2006 we enjoyed both resorts very much. I'll try to give you our brief run down of each resort.

:goodvibes So you can compare, my kids are now 8 and 14, so when we made our first trip in 2005, my daughter was 11 and my son was 6, the following summer my daughter was still 12 and my son was 7.

 Summer 05, first trip to Disney world. We chose the CBR because we wanted to stay in a moderate, some friends had reccomeded CBR and it looked pretty on the web. We had a preferred room location which I would highly reccomend:cool1:, it put us next door to old port royal and right next door to a bus stop. very convient and very much worth the 133$ it cost us. The food court was nice, not a huge variety of food, but the food was good. The sit down resturant Shutters, was very small but the food was very good. The grounds of the hotel were prettier in person than on the web. The pool was nice, a little small the kids had fun on the slide although the water depth at the slide was a little deep for my son, but he wore a vest. All in all we loved it:hippie:  and when I talked my wife into making a second trip in 06, I had planned to return to CBR.

:cloud9: We chose Coronado Springs in 06 mainly because my wife wanted to try somthing new and my daughter wanted to use the slide at the dig pool. :cutie: There is no preferred room location option when making reservartions at CSR. We did, through our TA request Casitas 1 or Cabanas 9 as they are centrally located to the Pepper Market and the main bus stop for CSR. We were put in a room in Casitas 1 on the 3rd floor. It worked out great. (you could walk from the room to the Pepper Market either indoors or under cover almost the entire way, very handy during summer thunder storm season) The food court at CSR is amazing:thumbsup2 the food choices and quality were much better than at CBR, I guess becasue of the Convention business that is catered to by this resort. There were two (that I noticed) conventions on the grounds when we stayed there. We had no issues at all with the folks attached to the conventions, although I guess that some DISers have had issues with them. We were on the meal plan both trips (great value for us) and with the choices at the Pepper Market C/S area we loved it. The grounds of CSR were also very pretty. The dig pool was much nicer than the pool at CBR although it was a farther walk to get there, its a really big pool, and the slide was great, with a shallower entry which eased my worries regarding my then 7 year old son. We really  loved CSR and Im pretty sure we are going to stay there again next summer 08.

I hope this is helpful, i dont think you could go wrong at either resort, we just liked CSR a little better. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and ill try to answer them. :cool1:

:surfweb: Quick followup, the bus service seemed much better to and from CSR, only issue was the bus to AK stopped at Typhoon Lagoon first, but there seemed to be much less waiting time in the am to catch a bus to the parks from CSR. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Not only do I totally agree with you, I think your statement applies every time people are comparing resorts. We are literally having a hard time deciding between a Value and a Deluxe because of the fact that each offers something uniquely different.
