Looking for new Fantasy books to read.

How about The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings trilogy? They are the BEST.

I know you said you don't want one about a guy being transported to a magical world, but I have to recommend Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom for Sale: Sold. It's a wonderful series. Do you have an iPhone or iPod Touch? If so, you can get it free through Random House.

It's a young adult series, but Inkheart by Cornelia Funke is one of my favorites.

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever - by Donaldson

I loved that series. I found the first book hard to get through the first time I read it, but once you get through it, the rest of them are wonderful.

I will let you in a secret..

Now, I warn you. Really warn you. If you start, you won't stop.

I am now on book 7, and not sure if I still have a job, married or where my kids are!

My wife who is normally a romance type genre, is nipping at my heels on book 5 and catching up to me quick!! Amazon is loving me right now!

These books are flat out amazing if you are a fantasy fan. Trust me..

Down and Out in The Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow is excellent.

Also, Magic Kingdom for Sale: Sold by Terry Brooks (not Disney related)

DH loves the Dresden Files, but I prefer Jim Butcher's other series 'The Codex Alera', the next one comes out in November I think. Off the top of my head, Anne McCaffery's Pern and the Talented series, the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the 'Recluce' books by L.E. Modesitt, 'Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn' by Tad Williams and the 'Samaria' books by Sharon Shinn (highly recommend).

I recently read the 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians', 'Maximum Ride' and 'Pendragon' books by D.J. Machale. They're YA, but nice quick light reads.

My books are all packed away, I'm sure more will come to me if I sit here and about it for awhile.
