A few of us on this have PM'ed a few times and thought it might be cool to get any folks in North Texas together for some kind of get together or something.

Now that sounds about as ambiguous as it can be, but nonetheless it is an idea. So we are calling out all would be festive makers in the N. Texas area to respond if this sounds good at all to you.

We are a bit spread out so far in Rowlett, Plano and Southlake. We'll hope to find a nuetral spot to have some fun and meet our neighbors!

We may have crafts like "how to trick up your DIS signature so it is really cool" or maybe play scharades using your favorite Disney rides or have the kids make cookies in their favorite character shape. Who knows, just fun to be had by all.

We would also of course welcome anybody on the board who wants to come to the DFW area for this Texas shindig. If you don't what that is, you probably wouldn't come anyhow. LOL
So consider this a trial balloon going up. If you have an interest, stand up and be counted.

Cool! I know exactly where that is. Let's get everyone in and see where it kind of settles, so far definitely more east Dallas county.
Thanks RTWhite

That's it? Wow, based on past discussions I thought there would be lots of replies. Have any of the rest of you ever tried something like this with any success?
Ernie:(

I'm from Rowlett and would love to have a shindig, we'll be sure and serve coke (NOT POP) and if it's fixin to rain we'll make do and move the shindig indoors...
RTWHITE- The owner of my daughter's dance studio lives in HEATH
Emacman- Don't fret, I'm sure we could get a crowd together! I'm guessing most people get on the boards late at night after the little monsters ( or angels) are in bed;) I'm up please count me and for all you others you could be missing a once in a lifetime opportunity to join OPA or even meet a Tag Fairy, you never know.......

I live in Irving, my office is in Richardson(but I travel as far south as Ennis, as far north as Denison and as far east as Greenville for work), and spend a lot of time in Keller with the horses. A meet would be interest me.

Flower Mound here!! My little monsters are in bed, but not asleep yet. Where's the party??

So far we've pretty much covered the Metroplex in directions. I'm thinking dbond and planogirl will get the message too. If ya'll know of others, git em on board!
Also need to know what works best, weekend? Afternoon or evening? This type of stuff. Guess we're pert nere got it started!

My preference would be date night - Saturday. I'ts the only night without Scout meetings or piano and when I know I'll have a sitter. Even so, we'll try to make whatever you plan!

I think we ought to include kids, make it a family affair.....I am a RN and work weekends only but if I know far enough in advance I can take off or trade..

If we're going to include family, I would prefer to not have it on a school night. But since my DH works weekend nights, I would have to have plenty of notice so he could get off work. I would also ask what ages on the kids since mine are older (12 & 16). I don't think they would be happy with me if I took them to a party where they were the only older kids there.

I'd also like a non school night...My kids are 8 and 4 (although my daughter thinks she's 16)..

We live in Irving and would love to meet fellow DVCers!! My DH works weekends but only until 2 p.m. We have 2 DD's ages 10 and 3. Count us in!!

way north - McKinney here!

very interested in DVC
Need to get together with current DVC'ers and maybe it will rub off on DH

would you consider the invite to non member ?
( at least for now )

I read the forum daily ... what a fun group.
BJ

That sounds like a lot of fun.

My girlfriend lives on Lake Grapevine, can I use her address for the gathering!

I'm from Houston, but it is only 3 1/2 hrs away!!!!!

:jester:

The invitation is anybody who wants to be there and knows about the fact it is a N. Texas DVC get together. So iamallears and Nink without question you are welcome.
Clarification for others...it was always intended to be for the whole family. I'm certain it would not be on a school night. Soccer, piano, dance, Indian Princess, Indian Guides, Scouts, etc. factored in, an evening would probably be best. We would most definitely schedule enough in advance for dyingtodisney to be there! I have to meet her.
By the way my DD's are 8 and 4. Sounds like kids range from 16-3. We can work with that. As you can think about ideas other than "Hi, how are you?" although we need a lot of that too. I'm more thinking of the kids. Adults tend to enjoy conversation where kids are often shy and hesitant. When our "neighborhood" gets together we need comfort!

Keep up the good work and recruit others you may know of that have DVC interests or connections.
Ernie

Well if your flattered...where is the tag fairy when you need 'em?LOL The idea is pickin up steam. Just PMed another Ft worth DVCer who might consider joining in I hope. This could really be fun.

I still haven't heard from anybody who has tried this sort of thing in their area. Can anybody out there help? Please advise.
Ernie

If none of the respondees are the lady who works at the Towne East Disney Store, I will talk to her when I go in to buy my tickets in the next few weeks. She has been a DVCer since it started. If you have already responded please email or PM me.

DS goes to school in Denton. Really wish I could find a way to combine a visit to see him with a N.Texas DVC meet. There certainly aren't any other DVCers down here-few people even know what it is, so I'd love the opportunity to meet some other DVCers.
