Looking for roadside attractions on the way from Ohio to Atlanta-- Atlanta to Savannah and Savannah to Hilton Head.

Also places to see at these cities .. places to eat.

Kids 10 and 13

Chattanooga, TN :lovestruc I was born and raised there and can make a list five pages long of places to eat, things to do, etc. But before I spend an hour doing that (lol), let me know if you'd even be interested. Chattanooga is a city on the Tennessee river - very strong arts and outdoors community. What does your family like to do, in particular? Everyone has different interests.

There isn't really anything between Savannah and HHI of interest. The drive is less than an hour. Bluffton has tried to make itself worth a stop, but I don't think it is.

Are you staying in Savannah for a day or two? What about HHI? What are your plans there?
Plenty of great things to do and see and eat in both places.

In Savannah, my kids enjoyed dinner at the Pirates House. Also, ice cream at Leopold's Ice Cream (a well-known ice cream parlor) was fantastic. We loved walking along River Street, which has nice little shops and restaurants. Forsyth Park is beautiful (that's where the famous bench scene from Forrest Gump was shot). There are a bunch of different museums. We liked the modern art museum, the name of which escapes me at the moment. Just seeing all the squares and the history is beautiful. They have ghost tours that might interest your kids if they are into that sort of thing...not sure if they are too young.

A few other restaurants my kids liked were Crystal Beer Parlour (very kid friendly), Cotton Exchange (on River Street) and Lady & Sons (which is buffet, not everyone's thing, but they liked it).

In Atlanta, the GA Aquarium is great! The Coca Cola tour is next door and is enjoyable. In Savannah, River Street Sweets on River Street is a must! Their pralines are the best! Try the original and the chocolate cashew ones as well! Yum!! I love Hilton Head! Go to the end of the island to Sea Pines resort and visit the lighthouse and spend some time at Harbour Town. Lots of stores and places to eat, and in warm weather outdoor activities and music. Really fun place to explore! There's a bakery/eatery that serves awesome food! Have fun! Those are great places to visit!

Savannah has my favorite sandwich of all time. The Conquistador from Zunzi's Take Out. It is a hole in the wall and it is fabulous. Savannah is a good city to walk around and see the old buildings/waterfront.

Hilton Head, we bike all over. It is a really bike friendly place and easy to rent a bike. I love to eat at Low Country Backyard and Kenny B's (for seafood not their cajun). Salty Dog has a nice patio for drinks.
