Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone had recommendations for a quiet resort at WDW. My husband and I are planning to visit WDW at the end of September or early October. We previously stayed at the All Star Music Resort, but unfortunately didn't get much sleep due to a visiting group of teenagers from Brazil, who liked to party until dawn. This time around, we would like to relax a bit more and wondered which resort would best suit our need for a little more quiet. We would prefer a Moderate resort, but would be willing to stay at any of them. Thanks very much.

2005- All Star Music Resort
1999- Wilderness Lodge
1992- Dixie Landings (Port Orleans - Riverside)

Port Orleans Riverside is pretty quiet. We went in early October in 2008, requested a STANDARD not preferred room...and there was hardly anyone even in our building! I didn't feel like it was very far away from the food court, tranportation. Also very close to a "quiet pool".

We stayed in Parterre Place. It looks far away on the map, but I didn't feel like it was. Just hopped on the bridge and went straight over...this path also keeps you from walking thru the "loud pool" and main traffic area behind Riverside Mill and the boats, etc--makes for a very nice peaceful walk.:cool1:

If you could do a deluxe I would stay at AKL, it is very laid back and tranquil, very peaceful and nice to come back to after a long day in the parks.

If you want to stay in a moderate I would stay at POR as a PP stated it is a quite resort.

I have stayed at a few and I would have to say Old Key West, by far is the quietest and most relaxing of all I have stayed at. I was there during spring break last year and you would not have noticed had the parks not been so busy.
On a side note I found the bus service to be exceptional.

Vacation Club - Old Key West or the Traahouse Villas at Saratoga Springs
Deluxe Resort - Grand Floridian
Moderate Resort - Port Orleans (either Riverside or French Quarter)
Value Resort - NONE, they're always crowded and loud.

There are still no Buck Rogers themed attractions in WDW.

Moderate priced resort-Port Orleans French Quarter. We stayed there in June 2009. I also suggested to my sister and her husband who was taking their grandchild. It was their first trip ever in June 2008. They raved about it. It is a quiet, small, and lovely resort.

I've never had a problem with noise at any of the resorts I've stayed at, so I'm gonna say...CBR, Pop, AKL or GF.

OKW by far! My ONLY room request is now to be placed in a QUIET room, no matter where we travel. Same for OKW, and was placed on a second floor, corner unit, steps from the bus stop and quiet pool. Husband LOVED it there!

The whole theme of OKW is that it is laid back and quiet. You can't get much better than that. That is what I like about it, You can go spend the day at the parks or DTD and then go back to the quiet of the resort. You would never know that you were so close to all the chaos. To take it one step further the quiet pools there are wonderful to as most people there spend their pool time at the main pool or turtle shack. The first time we went there (borrowed points from my sister) we chose it because it cost us the least amount of dvc points. We return there because it is so beautiful and relaxing.

We've stayed at just about every resort. Only ones we haven't stayed at are the All Stars & Animal Kingdom Lodge.

My suggestions would be Coronado Springs in the mod category & Yacht Club or Grand Floridian in the deluxe category.

If you want to go the DVC route then definitely our home resort of OKW!!!

Of all that I've stayed at POR is it for me. I love Wilderness Lodge, it's our favorite, but not quiet. The quiet pools at POR are nice also.

Sorry, but I just had to comment again on two things.

First, :welcome: to the DIS!
Second, although YC is a quieter resort, using my above "quiet room" strategy, we were placed across the hall from the ice machine, AND at 1 am were awakened by something rolling over the floors upstairs (we were on 4, so that must have been CL) for about 30 min. DH was alone in the lobby complaining about the noise, that you could hear all down our hallway! This was very upsetting for that level of resort, and although we loved it there, this would be a hard sell going back.

I've only ever stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, so I can't offer a comparison. But it is a moderate, as you said you preferred. And my dh and I found it to be extremely quiet, peaceful, and restful.

You can have "quiet" or "noisy" at any resort; I don't think one is any better than the other -- it depends on if there is a group there, your "neighbors" who may be inconsiderate, etc. We've stayed at four resorts. The All-Star Sports was the worse--but this was during the daytime--just too "busy" for us (never heard anything at night), the Polynesian was very quiet, the Contemporary was very noisy with Chef Mickey's, kids running up and down the halls pounding on doors, etc., and the Coronado (CSR) has been the most quiet for us.

Just got back from FOFQ and it was extremely quiet and easy to get around as it is a pretty small resort.

POR was very quiet, never heard a peep in the rooms and the public spaces of the resort was also very quiet. POFQ was equally quiet and I would choose that over POR. WL was a bit noisy, especially the public spaces.

At the value resorts, request a quiet room, which will likely be further from the main pool areas, and food court. Or request rooms that face away from these popular public areas, like the back side of Building 5 at All Star Movies.

At moderate resorts, the same rule applies. However, POFQ is accomodates approximately half the number of guests as the other resorts, so in general, so there will be fewer guests in the restaurant and pool areas. Buildings 1 and 7 are the most quiet.

Use these resort maps to better understand which buildings may be more prone to noise from pools, restaurants, and popular walking paths. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/

A cautionary note about deluxe resorts: According to the Unofficial Guide, because these resorts use interior corridors, the door-seals are not required to be weatherproof. The 2008 edition (the newest I own) indicated that these rooms were noisier than the moderate or value resorts.
