Looking for Mary Poppins

I have seen her more than once outside of Pinnochios Haus (ok - how do you spell that boy/toy's name? lol) on the path that leads you to the restrooms back there. With two small children, we spend a lot of time in Fantasyland AND a lot of time trudging back and forth to the restrooms :)

(and now I am singing "spoon full of sugar" lol)

I walked around town dressed like a 19th century English woman at the age of 12
I jumped out a window with my umbrella
I made and wore a Poppins hat where ever I went
I memorized every unusual word that MP said
I made a parrot headed umbrella
I'd draw sidewalk pictures and try to jump into them
I tried to mechanically engineer a real flying umbrella and ended up winning a prize for model airplane (and I got to ride in the clouds with a helium baloon fun!)
I talked exactly like Mary Poppins, cross, haughty and adroit.
I used to sing while ordering my menu
I could play MP songs on the piano
I wrote endless stories about MP
I wore a bowtie
I wore my hair like MP and colored it dark, dark brown
I talked about marrying Bert
I star gazed
I baby-sat
I tried to talk to animals, the sun and the wind

Anyone ever seen or have an idea where we could get my wife a Mary Poppins costume? :rolleyes1

Mary's practically perfect in every way!

WDW Lovr,

You can try Disney Direct Shopping at the following link:
http://disney.store.go.com/

We were able to get a Minnie and Capt. Hook costumes here last year. But make sure you check regularly. Adult costumes seem to go pretty fast!

We went to the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare a couple of years ago when we were there during Halloween. We had a custom dress made for my DD which matched Mary's exactly. It's the white dress with red bows that she wears on their trip inside the chalk picture. She had a little umbrella, and hat to match that were just adorable. Mary Poppins just about lost it when she saw her. She said, "I'm so very pleased to see your costume today! I always see little girls dressed up like princesses, but no one ever seems to want to be a nanny!" The pictures were great. Then for MNSSHP my husband dressed up like Bert, red and white striped jacket, white pants, straw hat, and I dressed up like a penguin. Lots of people complimented us on our originality. It was lots of fun. But seeing Mary Poppins was definitely a highlight for my daughter. And the breakfast is really nice at Park Fare. The other characters, which may change from time to time, were Alice, The Madhatter and the Fairy Godmother.

Have Fun!!

Lisa

This is way OT, but I was trying to post a picture of my dd's mary poppins costume, and I can't seem to find a way to put an image in my post. Anybody out there who can tell me how you guys manage to add pics to your posts??

thanks tons,
Lisa

We did find her near the MGM entrance (over to the left side of the Crossroads) and also enjoyed seeing her in the Stars & Motorcars parade.

I saw her on the character bus right after opening at EPCOT last week. I've also seen her in the UK at EPCOT, Expo Hall at MK, and near the Hat at MGM in other trips in the past few years.

You need 1. patience and 2. Time... 3. then go to the technical board here at the Dis, click on the FAQ thread, then follow the directions (and links) to post a picture...

and when I find the time, I promise to post the pic of Mary, dd, and I... I will not post the "schlumpy/frumpy -see thread on that adjective!!) I will post us - I look so awful!! My makeup had melted off, my face is NOT glistening, its downright SWEATY! And Mary, well she's definately practically perfect - in EVERY way - and standing next to her, makes me look like schlump!!!

Herei's the direct link for directions to 1. post a pic here at the Dis, then upload photo [ /img ]

we saw her at Cinderella's Royal Table a few years ago....I was taking a picture of my DD's with Cinderella and before I knew it, Mary jumped right into the shot and ruined everything!!! Just kidding....DD's really only wanted their picture with Cinderella and they were like "who's that lady in our picture??" :rotfl2:

I also got a picture w/Mary Poppins and a penguin in Cinderella's Royal Table. It was at supper and she was in the lobby downstairs at the Throne. We had gotten a picture w/just the penguin earlier that day in front of the carousel. It was really funny b/c we did not know where the penguin came from or who it was with!!! We just knew we wanted as many pics and autographs as we could get!! LOL :cool1:

As others have pointed out the breakfast at the GF is a great place and it's not as expensive as others. I was supprised when the bill for my son and me only turned out to be ~$20. :umbrella: She waits in the entrance for pictures and autographs (see picture below).

OH, remember to make resie for it because if I remember correctly it doesn't happen every day (there is a different one on some days I believe) Tell them you want the Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious breakfast.

We saw Mary Poppins in Fantasyland.
