Looking for input on some rides

I pretty much agree with what everyone else has said -- definitely avoid Nemo -- it's cramped, claustrophobic and worst of all, it stinks in there from the BO of so many people being packed together like sardines. I could not get off that ride fast enough.

I really hope you can ride Soarin' -- honestly I skip alot of the DCA rides because they're a little much for me, but Soarin' is probably my favorite. I don't do SSS, Screamin', Goofy -- but I do Soarin' and I do RSR. Jumpin' Jellyfish is no problem at all. It doesn't really go up that high and the "drop" is quite slow and totally controlled. Maybe try doing JJ before you do Soarin' to see if the legs dangling is ok? Keep in mind that Soarin' really just goes up once, slowly, and doesn't have any drops. The actual motion of the ride is very tame. If you get any motion sickness from the IMAX view, it's easily dealt with by closing your eyes. I have alot of issues with motion sickness but I can do Soarin'.

And I definitely agree about avoiding the very back seat of Splash as well. I hate that seat; you can feel every bump on the drop. Ask if you can sit in seat 4 or 5.

I have a tendency to get dizzy easily and I am claustrophobic though not terribly. I'll give my my personal thoughts on these rides.

Astro Orbiter - This one is fine for me. I dont get dizzy on it and as you said, you can control the height. I only go on this ride if my kids make me.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage - I spend the entire ride waiting to get off. I sit it out if I can. Claustrophobia kicks in. Small anxiety attack has happened before.

Flik's Flyers - I can't remember if it flys in both directions or if I just got stuck sitting backwards one time. Anyway, I get dizzy when I fly backwards. This is another one I try not to go on unless I have to with the kids.

Golden Zephyr - The spinning on this one does not bother me. If you're scared of heights you might want to avoid it. This one I'm ok with and ride often.

Jumpin' Jellyfish - I went on this one once. I dont remember it though so it was probably fine for me.

Radiator Springs Racers - No sharp turns where it feels like you're gonna fall out or anything like that, but yes I guess there is at least one kinda sharp turn. and its impossible for the cars to hit each other.

Silly Symphony Swings - Too fast for me. I get sick. I avoid.

Hope this helps some!

It sounds like we're much alike. I also get vertigo very easily; especially at IMAX and 3D movies - if that's the case for you, I would advise against Soarin. It gave me such vertigo and motion sickness that I ended up hanging on with my eyes closed taking deep breaths after about 5 minutes in - after waiting in line for 35 minutes.

I finally got up my nerve for RSR last visit; as someone said above, you can see the last part of the ride as it's outside, and that helped me know what to expect. I went on it twice, and will do it again as it is so well done. I was trying to challenge myself to try a ride outside my comfort zone each day, and that one went better than I expected. I think being able to see part of the ride does help.

I did the submarine, and frankly I didn't think it was worth the hype. I'd suggest the viewing room.

As for the others you mention, I skip them. There are enough other things to do, and details to see, and people watching, and cats to try to catch a glimpse of, that I don't feel the need to try to do every ride. I used to love swing rides; now I'm afraid I'll get violently ill on one, which would be no fun for anybody....

I am super scaredy cat and have terrible issues with motion sickness so I understand your anxieties. I will never do Screamin for those reasons.
However, I finally did SM a few years ago and was so angry with myself for never doing before. It is super fun. Soarin does not move once it does the initial small lift so motion sickness is not an issue. If it bothers you, you can just close your eyes and you will feel like you are just sitting in a chair. RSR does not bother me at all, probably because when I was a little girl my daddy used to drive around the mountain roads where we lived at breakneck speed. RSR is great fun. Give it a try. You did not mention Space Mountain but I rode it last year and will never ride it again. For the entire ride I felt like I was going to fall out of the car. It was terrifying.

This is soooo me. I got really nauseous the first time I went on Soarin'. I really wanted to see the new film though so last time I went I made sure to take some Bonine that morning. It really helped and I enjoyed the ride! I also get nauseous and dizzy from Star Tours which really is a shame because I used to love it. I think my nausea and vertigo have gotten worse as I've aged.

Funny enough, I don't have a problem at all with Dumbo, but I've never been on the Orbiter. Dumbo has become one of my favorites. It is very gentle and doesn't spin in the traditional sense. I absolutely will not do the tea cups though. I would like to try the swings next time. I think if I can handle Dumbo then I'll be fine with the swings.

Really, I suggest trying the Bonine. It's non-drowsy. Test the waters with Dumbo and if you're fine with that then get a little more adventurous. Also remember, this is YOUR trip and there's no pressure to go on any rides that make you uncomfortable. I could go to Disneyland and not ride anything and still have a great time!

I don't ride any of these accept RSR and highly suggest you try it. I dont like scary rides especially ones that are too fast and this one isn't too fast to be scary. As far as it crashing, I doubt it. They are on tracks so, I don't see that happening. I've rode nemo once and never again. I am also claustrophobic. It's a really tight space and to me was very hot & stuffy inside and of course to me with issues with claustrophobia, I felt like I couldn't breathe cuz it's stuffy inside so, I pass on this one.

I'm actually much more scared of JJ because I'll be able to see how high I am. Just watching a video of it gave me a little vertigo. I think I'll be ok on Soarin' if I'm in the bottom row and close my eyes during liftoff.

Agree with PP about taking Bonine. I get motion sickness and take it now every morning before I go into the Park. Even then I steer clear of the spinning rides: teacups, swings and astro orbiters.....they are all nausea inducing! (also, Space and Screamin'). JJ doesn't go all that high and is pretty tame.

Thank you all for your comments. I'll take them into consideration and see how I feel once I'm there. I don't have kids; I'm just a wimp. :scared1: I know Jumpin' Jellyfish is for little kids, but it looks really scary to me since I get vertigo very easily. Can you sit in a tandem swing on SSS if you're an adult riding it by yourself? That's the only way I could even consider it.

I don't know if they allow it or not. I know that they sometimes have parent/kids that go for those swings first and there aren't very many of them available. You can always try it and if there are no tandem swings left, you can just walk to the exit right then and there. It's worth a shot!

Ok I know that most people think Jumpin Jellyfish is a kiddie ride-and so did I until I rode it.

-No, No, No, and never again.

I can ride ToT but not those Jelly Fish. I figured out after the fact that I need to feel secure with my feet planted firmly on a solid surface when I'm up high. If not-well thats when I panic. I don't got upside down or have dangling legs.

So before you tell yourself its not going to bother you-ask yourself "how do I feel about dropping from heights while only being secured by the torso".

Did it feel like you were dropping too quickly, or was it just having your feet dangling?

It sounds like Flik's Flyers is fine for someone who can just barely manage Dumbo as long as you sit forward, but the other circular rides are too fast or make you feel like you'll fall out?

I really want my DS to try RSR but I was never able to get him on Test Track after he hated Soarin because of the screen. Am I understanding correctly that the only potentially scary part of RSR can be seen outside before you ride?

Of the ones you mentioned, I would avoid:

- Astro Orbitor - bad angle, goes pretty fast and is difficult to get out of. I didn't realize all of these things until I took a toddler on it, and then couldn't hardly get us out of the vehicle at the end of the ride!

- Nemo - it makes me claustrophobic, too.

- Silly symphony swings - this type of ride can be scary if you don't like these rides.

Don't let fear make you miss RSR - it's an awesome ride. Golden Zephyr, Flik's, and Jellyfish are quite tame, I would think you'd be fine on them.

The drop wasnt very fast but any drop from a height above shoulder high while I am dangling makes me queasy and panicky.
