Looking for house rental NC or SC

we are a group of 13 looking to rent a vacation home in either North Carolina or South Carolina...May 21-28th. Any suggestions of nice areas...not to crowded...reasonable priced...oceanfront????? I think Myrtle Beach has their Bike week around that time..so I think we should stay clear of that area.

Outer Banks, NC is great. Not very touristy with shopping and things like that. It's very laid back and relaxing. What there is to do there is relatively inexpensive. Lots of rentals available especially for large groups. Headed to Nags Head in June. Can't wait!

We LOVED Sunset Beach, NC. It is the southern most island in NC. It was a nice family beach...almost all vacation rental houses. The beach was wide and clean....something we aren't used to since we have always stayed at Myrtle Beach. It is only about a 20 minute drive to Myrtle if tou want to eat at some of their rest. or visit their attractions yet is far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It is also 5 minutes from Calabash, NC which is famous for their seafood restaurants. It is very laid back and beautiful. Try googling Sunset Properties or Sunset Rentals.

I've been looking on VRBO for rentals in Emerald Isle this summer. Any specific recommendations for realty companies?

Outer Banks, NC is great. Not very touristy with shopping and things like that. It's very laid back and relaxing. What there is to do there is relatively inexpensive. Lots of rentals available especially for large groups. Headed to Nags Head in June. Can't wait!

We are looking to go back in August.. we went back in 2002 and had a great time (cant believe it was that long ago)

Some of my favorites in SC are Isle of Palms (outside, Charleston) Cherry Grove (north of Myrtle Beach), Fripp Island (outside of Beaufort).

Isle of Palms is an expensive area as far as hotels go - haven't looked into house rentals there. Cherry Grove has lots of rentals - on the beach, on the water way or within walking distance to the beach. Fripp Island is a gated island that is privately owned. I know there, you can rent and then purchase a week membership to the pool at the Beach Club. It has been a while since I was there, but I love it. They have beachfront houses, houses on the waterway and houses on the interior portion of the island. You basically have to drive back into Beaufort if you want real groceries. There is a small market on the island. You can rent bikes, charter fish, play tennis and golf.

I really don't have any rental info I can give you because when at Cherry Grove and Fripp, I have stayed with friends. When we went to the Isle of Palms, we stayed in Mt. Pleasant.

I live in coastal NC the Outer Banks is gorgeous I would recommend Duck. Try Craigslist there are a lot of deal out there due to the economy. There are LOTS of rental agencies Elan or Resort Rentals are two that come to mine but you will get it cheaper going through the owner. I hope you have a great time where ever you decide to go!

Go as far south as you can in late May and defintely pay for pool heat. I recommend Hatteras Island. www.outerbeaches.com
