I've decided on having 5 bridesmaids. I wasn't sure if I wanted a big bridal party, but I do. But now comes the hard part.

I'm looking to see peoples pictures of the following things:
-dresses in general
-bridesmaids who wore different shades of the same dress
-bridesmaids who wore the same color of different dresses
-tealength dresses vs floor length dress, and opinions on if floor length is too hot
-Varying sizes of bridesmaids... mine will be probably 2/4 to 16/18...
-And any other advice!

I had three girls. They all wore Alfred Angelo dresses in claret. I told them to pick out whatever they wanted. One girl wore a long gown, one wore a shorter dress with a jacket and one wore something from their separates line - an a-line skirt and a strapless top in white and claret. I think it looked great. Watching "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" one of things they said was the thing now is for the girls to wear different dresses and not put them all in the same thing. As you can see, my girls were different sizes and I think it was really important to let them each pick something they were comfortable in. Here is a photo of me and my girls.

And here is one with the groomsmen and our special guests. As you can see, we had the whole red, white and black things going.

Just noticed you got engaged on our 2 month anniversary and are getting married in October. I am sure it will not be too warm to wear a long gown in October. For our November 10th wedding the morning was cool - the afternoon was just perfect and it was cool for our IllumiNations dessert party later that night. This is a great time of year.

I had my 2 sisters as bridesmaids and they wore matching dresses that we bought from a high street store for £70 each. They helped pick them and I liked the idea that they could wear them again for going out or something.

hannah_mont - love your girls dresses - that i something that they can definately wear again.

Keira1387 - love the way your girls pickups matched yours.

I am having horrible luck at posting pictures, but you can see the dresses in my blog. We had floor length...all the same. It was VERY hot in Chicago on our wedding day and incredibly humid, but because the fabric was thin, no one had any problems.

My girls got the dresses from Overstock.com

My DD's hem matched mine and we got it at Alfred Angelo in Pistachio
