whoo hooo that is good news. I couldn't imagine going to the doc with out that stuff. The weather is okay here. We had the birthday party and everyone survived. Now I just have a mountain of toys and Beth has lots of thank yous to write.

Ok a request of those that are going soon.....I would appreciate a postcard from Cindy to Beth. A girl in her class went last month and she told Beth that Cindy didn't remember her and that she wasn't her favorite. She is really worried that the princesses don't like her anymore. So would someone send one to her saying they like her and can't wait to see her in a few years? I would really appreciate it.

You guys are the best!
I will send one if it's okay to wait the three weeks let me know

Hello BreTyPres87! You have come to the right place. I also plan which parks to be on certain days by using TGM, and plan my ADRs accordingly. Then I make sure I call on the first day I can. After that, I just read what I can to get as much info as possible. I also love to use Passporter - I love the organization pages. I don't do excel too well, so I just use old fashioned lists.

When we get there, I look at my list before heading out - I may make cards this trip like a couple of smart girls here do. (Kara and Jillian) As Jillian said, I try really hard to relax and enjoy the time without being too rigid. If every moment is planned, there's no opportunity to enjoy unexpected moments that come along. Happy Planning.

You're welcome to vent and plan here any time - we're good listeners and we love to plan and scheme together!

BreTyPres87 - Welcome to our insanity! Seriously, we have planning issues here!

When I go for a big trip, I always make notecards - on each card I list each park, operating hours, time of fireworks and parades, then I put my ADRs on there with the confirmation number. I also have a card with important phone numbers that I may need, including the kennel in case I feel the need to check on my dog! ;)

Then I plan out which parks I will visit on which days, using either TGM or the Unofficial Guide. Once I know which parks I'll be at on which days, I make my ADRs. That's really it as far as planning for the parks. I don't follow any kind of park plan once I'm there. I follow some "simple" guidelines, like "go left" and others that I learned on here. The DIS is a great resrource for planning, there are tons of little tips that I use all the time now!

I agree that you're going at a very busy time of year, so follow the tips of other DISers and it'll seem like a slow time at the parks - that is how good the info is here.

OK, everyone, my house is NOT as clean as y'all make it sound!!! Drives me nuts! Jeff vacuumed a little bit on SAturday and the vacuum is STILL sitting in the middle of the floor - it's that kind of stuff that makes me want to go postal!

Went to the driving range yesterday - it was a gorgeous day! Ally had fun, and she was doing pretty well. I think Jeff is enjoying working with her on her swing, and we're gonna get her in a junior golf clinic this summer.

Went to weigh in yesterday for the first time in two weeks, and I actually dropped 3/4 of a lb! I thought I was up.... so even though that isn't great, it's better than gaining!

OK, off to work now - have a great day and see ya on FB!

Welcome. I try to do as much planning as I can before I go so everything is done when I get there. Once I am there the planning is over and I try not to fret to much when things get out of order. We follow a TGM plan as much as we can but plan 4 days to stay off of any plan and just take the day at leisure. If you are always looking at your planning book you are not going to enjoy yourself.

At Christmas time plan on taking in then going on rides from what I hear it is SUPER crazy. Make sure you have any ADR's in place at the 90 day mark and go from there. Hope that helps!
Stupid question but what is TGM? yes I have heard about Christmas which is scaring me  lol we're gonna go to Epcot and spend the day there so we can go to candlelight processional that night.. or we're going to stay at the Poly all day and seek refuge from all the crowds.. either one!! lol

Welcome!

Like Jillian, I tend to favor TGM too. I went during a busy time last year and it worked out well. I'll second what she said about having time to enjoying things. A wise woman (Tammie ;) told me not to forget to just enjoy ourselves and take it all in - so we are planning to get a good general idea of the trip, and be flexible this go round. ;)

Funny about word, I do my planning in Excel - like the ability to have multiple sheets inside one document.

Hi everyone - :wave2: it is beautiful here today. I just came in - 70 degrees. About to head back outside with the kids. All I could think is that Cammie's trip is going to be wonderful if the weather is suppose to be like it is here! Speaking of - how's all the packing going there? Has the ice melted any?

I'm in a Kara mood - been cleaning. Gosh the house needs it! I sware, I love Carlos home on the weekends, but the house is 1000 times worse! :rolleyes2 ::yes::

Okay, outta here for some vitamin D! :)

PS - I was successful in my quest - I was surprised though! I never thought I would be able to find fragerence free deod, shampoo, & soap but I did. No fragrence of any kind for my test next monday - 4 hours long. Hopefully they can sort me out. Day 2 of no meds for this test. I'm wondering how exactly I will be by next Monday. :crazy2:

BTW - Erin, love the snow pics! I LOVE show (sorry Debbie, Laura, Jillian & Cammie).
what time did you go last year?
Yes this is my first on property trip and theres just so much to take in not to mention ADR's -I never would have thought about making reservations for meals 6 months in advance before this! i use word 2007 it lets me import excel tables i've put more work into that than my homework!

Yes I have set my alarm for my 180 and 90 day mark i don't want to miss anything , whats passporter?
the cards sound like a good quick idea! You're right about every moment being planned, I tend to do this at my kids birthday parties and forget that its supposed to be a fun thing for me too!
Thank you!!

Stupid question but what is TGM?

!!

TGM = Tour Guide Mike. Basically the draw for me is he does these least crowded park charts broken down by half days - so I use that to plan which parks and then which ADRs. In my case, my ADR window opened prior to him having the May 09 one up, so I worked off the last week of April 09's charts with May 08's - and I ended up okay!

I don't do cards, but I do word 1/4 sheet of a page for each park with a merge of UG (ultimate guide) and TGM's advice on which ride to visit in which order - noting how long the ride takes, typical waits, etc. Also noting any other things in the area I want to do. Then I cheapo laminate it (ha ha) with mailing tape so it won't get damaged if wet. For example - MK, all the different lands are a different color, etc. I also like Passporter. Their Park Maps are great. I didn't have them last trip with me in the park and I made a mental note that I"d copy them for the parks!

You asked when I was there last year - mid April. Jillian and I missed each other by a little over a week. She can tell you, it was NUTS! Double Spectros, Spectro every night, but I did TGM's plan and I honestly thought it was okay. The only real wait we had was on Magic Carpets at 2pm, but it was shoulder to shoulder in the afternoons. Keep in mind that Chef Mickeys books 180 days out rather than 90 like the others. ;)

Good morning gals! It is beautiful weather again today. Planning on the park this afternoon. OUR TREES ARE BUDDING for crying out loud! I'm doing a bit of cleaning today again. I'm planning on getting those windows open too. At some point, I've got to figure out what I want to do about clothing. I need some this year for sure. Suggestions for the parks - and sorry, but I don't do tanks - not that skinny. :cutie:

Shoes too - I'm thinking of wearing my flops. I so love them (THANKS CAMMIE!)

Laura - I was planning on doing post cards while I"m there too! So, let me know which ones & what you want them to say. :) Anyone else too, for that matter.

Debbie - I AM SO SORRY it has taken me so long to get little man his shoes! I need to go to the post office to return Carlos' crocs too, and I need to go out to the garage and dig out boxes to mail, so I'll try to do that soon - sorry!

Kara - Jeff left it in the floor - SO WHAT! Carlos couldn't find ours for $100! :rotfl: I tell him all the time he pulled the biggest bait & switch on me ever! We use to split the cleaning 50/50. Then I quit work and he sees it ALL as my job. :headache:

Congrats on the loss - hey - it is a loss! Good for you. I tell ya - going to WDW in a few months - I need to try to drop some weight. Planning on getting serious about it now.

Okay, staying true to my word - I'm off to get my daily projects going! Have a beautiful day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erin and Tessa - y'all are cracking me up with your snow! It reminds me of SC - just the forecast of a dusting of snow and everything would shut down. But it makes sense in areas like that where there isn't the equipment to deal with snow and ice.

Oh it is crazy England ran out of grit/salt hahaha can you believe that, that's because we never get any hahhahahaa:rotfl2:

Erin...I deflected those snowballs! Thanks for the pix.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi everyone! I got back last night. Had a great time, but got NO sleep! I had to catch up last night in my own bed. I really have to get some cleaning done today. Jim is working today, so I'll have a little time.

Tammie .. glad you are home safe and sound even though tired

BTW - Erin, love the snow pics! I LOVE show (sorry Debbie, Laura, Jillian & Cammie).

Glad you're getting some good weather, i loove the snow too!

We had the birthday party and everyone survived. Now I just have a mountain of toys and Beth has lots of thank yous to write.

Oh you and me both Laura, we still have many thankyous to write, meant to say when is Beth's b'day, cj had her party on friday in the snow brbrbrrrr yes those poor mothers trekked their children to my house for the party hahaha i made it earlier as school was closed

Ok the rain has arrived here to wash all the snow away, except its not its just making walking harder and the ice slippery and more snow could potentially be on it's way :rotfl2: oh dear oh dear!!!

Welcome BreTyPres87
These girls are great and have all the good tips!

Hiya all..

Erin -I could not believe it when we ran out of grit and salt this winter!!! Gloucestershire where I live has - get this - been using TABLE SALT - high grade refined salt to keep the motorways open!!! We have rain today and due to snow even more tonight!! (yippeeeee)

I just went all nostalgic and went to read my old trippie and the comments....brought back many memories and loved reading all the loving, supportive comments from my DIS buddies.

Kids were back at school today - pretty much over the flu - wanted to get back to school since "home is boring when we are ill". My tactics are working well!!!!! I hate it when kids "swing a sickie" when they are well enough for school - mine get told that if they are well enough to play, they are well enough to learn- I am such a heartless mother.....:goodvibes

Got to go - eldest is doing our family tree - up to my great grandparents. It is great involving all the different branches of the family, and fits well with the nostalgic feel of today.....
Should use a software package really, but I love the way it morphs and grows scruffily on paper as we gain more info and dates ..... Has made me realise how lucky we are to live in the modern era - my great grandad had 12 siblings - only 5 survived infancy... Also stories come out of the woodwork - my great great great grandad's brother was hanged in the 1800s (along with 7 other men) for mutiny on the high seas on a trip to Australia. One branch of my dad's side has been done by an aunt back to around 1500 - it is soooo amazing to look back through the family records.

Cheers,
Tessa

oh that sounds great i'm gonna pick up all the tips I can!! I found this site by accident when I typed in Disney cakes and i'm amazed by all the info I can find i've been using allears but now i've found two more helpful sites tikman now TGM and these boards perfect for the detailed planner

If I can ask.. did you pay for Tour Guide Mike's thing I think its like 21 dollars which isn't bad but i'm wondering if maybe i'm missing some other deal
Yes we're doing CRT and Chef Mickey's for my son's bday we're doing Chef Mickey's i'm taking my two boys to CRT because I'm paying  so i'm going to be on the phone at 180 days making ADR
the laminating is a really good idea i've heard about the unpredictable rain

No deal on TGM the first time around you get one when you renew your subscription which I do every year. He is usually on the money and we hardly wait and we are done with the rides by Lunch time each day. My only advice is to go back to the hotel mid day and take a break! That was a huge help to us even before kids. It is amazing how much more we get done when we go back for a little nap and shower. I don't feel stressed out and I am ready to stay at the park until close.

Thank you!!

Passporter is a great planning book with maps and info on all the hotels and restaurants and park attractions - planning pages to fill in at the back with pockets to put receipts, etc. Places to write ADR numbers, etc.

I know with TGM, which yes, I paid for - I probably don't need this again, too, but it is so fun to have it in your hands vs. reading stuff on the internet.

Another tip, bring ponchos from the dollar store. Then you can just throw them away, instead of dripping all over the place and trying to figure out how to pack and store them again.

Sorry you ran out of salt! :goodvibes Actually salt rusts your cars - they use sand here, from crushed lava. We used to be a volcano, apparently.

Your family research sounds interesting. I love history, and keep thinking that kind of project would be really fun! For us, its hard because our country is only so old, and the rest happened "across the pond." :rotfl2:

No deal on TGM the first time around you get one when you renew your subscription which I do every year. Great advice! We have done it that way with little ones, and now Jim and I are planning on taking a break by ourselves, too. It feels really good to be rested and cleaned up before dinner.:thumbsup2

Hope you're all having a nice Monday. I'm going to take a little nap while the kids are down.

Tammie - I think Dollar Store ponchos are my fave. I usually take about 10 with me and keep 3 in my bag at all times. I use one on Kali River Rapids and then give it to someone in line as I'm leaving. Plus, I've always got one just in case of an afternoon t-storm.

Also, the rubber id bracelent I had made for Ally with cell phone numbers on it, just in case she'd get lost.

Let's see, also the Dollar Store pop up hamper to keep the room neat, and the closet shoe hanger to put all our toiletries, sunscreen, etc, in, to keep the vanity area neat.

Those are my Disney must-haves.

Well, I have a WDW must have I haven't seen anyone mention - the weather channel on my phone! I subscribe for $2.95 per month and it lets me access weather maps, hourly forcasts, as well as 7 day and you can easily change the location. We were in AK and it was pouring. I just popped out my phone and took a look at the radar, decided it would pass quickly and stuck it out a bit. A few people in line asked to see and were really impressed. I LOVE it - just for being at the zoo - whatever! :) Plus I never seem to catch the news, so I love it for that reason too!

BreTyPres87 - I actually did get a first time deal. I saw TGM had a banner on the DIS for either $3 or $5 off your first time - so look for that. I like the shoe hanger like Kara, as well as a pop up hamper. Plus last time I fell in love with a damp wash cloth in a zip lock bag. That was a lifesaver when my freshly face painted son decided he wanted it off right away!

Tammie & Kara - I've been looking for those 88 cent ponchos at Walmart and they NEVER have them in stock. I might have to check out our dollar store for that kind of stuff. Dumb question - are you talking about the true Dollar Store or the "everything's a dollar" type?

Erin & Tessa - hope you are enjoying your snow! Table salt - how funny - sounds like something they'd do here! We actually use a saltwater mix most of the time prior to the snow because ice is our big concern, but the rest they mix sand & salt too.

Cammie have you left yet? Have a fantastic trip with Lauren! I bet you are going to have a blast! :goodvibes

Debbie, Laura, & JillianHello! Hope you guys are doing well! Jillian, not much longer for you either!

Yesterday was lovely here. Took the kids to the park. Mia got clocked pretty good by a tire swing right in the mouth. :headache: A nurse practicianer was there too - said I needed to get her to the dentist asap. Scared me to death, lots of swelling, but all the teeth seem fine - none moved, etc. Just a LOT of swelling! She looks tons better today, but still very swollen. The power of popcicles!

HOpe everyone has a great day! I need to continue my cleaning. Yesterday's events kept me for getting as much done as I had planned.

OH... Kara, I haven't whipped out my steamer yet - how long does it take to set it up? I've been trying to wait until the kids aren't around to be grabbing on everything until I figure out how it works!

Hi Guys! Quick stop by for now. Hope to spend more time around here this afternoon - need to update my pre-trippie.

So busy here. Trying to do some last minute tweaking for our trip. I'll fill you all in later.

Let's see, since the last time I checked in Lauren has gotten a boyfriend and a part in her school's musical "Grease"; Amanda was sick, on the vent and in bed all day Sunday, then completely fine on Monday.:confused3 Spent the morning at her school yesterday for her IEP mtg. and had to watch my ex try to pretend he knew what the hell everyone was talking about. He's so clueless but in these situations, his "BS Salesman" comes out and he manages to fool everyone. UGH! Weather this weekend was warmer - the ice has melted and I can now use my front walkway again!:thumbsup2

Ok, I'm off to the hairdresser - the grey hairs are starting to outnumber the brown ones! Will be back later.

I wanted to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts for my cousin. He is doing well and was officially released from the hospital last night. :goodvibes

He hadn't been eating well and was just to a point they thought getting a 16 year old back home would be better. He hadn't seen most friends, etc. He still has to make the 3 hour drive 3 times a week for physical therapy for a month and is in a wheelchair for some time, but at least he got to sleep in his own bed and hopefully he will start eating better.

Again - thanks you guys - you're the best! :flower3:

Lorrie - poor Mia!!! It's so sad to see the little ones like that. And so glad to hear about your cousin.

As for the ponchos, any dollar store should have them. Ours had them packaged 2 to a bag for $1. Love it! So for $5 I get 10 ponchos!

Cammie - a boyfriend!!!! :scared1: Is it the study buddy? Big congrats on the part in Grease! That will be so much fun for her! It really is amazing watching the dads pretend they have a clue about anything the kids do. Jeff is the same way and he lives with Ally!!! HOpe Amanda is feeling better, too!

Hey there stranger! a BOYFRIEND. :scared: I guess it is about that time... I second Kara - Carlos lives with our kids too - same BSing people, when I know he has NO CLUE! How exciting she is in Grease! that is so fun! Glad to hear that Amanda is doing better too!

AND YAY ABOUT THE ICE!

im so glad to hear that the cousin is home. kara- how is your mom doing in rehab? I love that. I hope she is well.

Grease is sooo much fun. She will be singing all the time. It will be good practice for her when she works at Disney. ;) We all know that our kids are going to do the college program. Okay we know that but they don't. LOL

I know you all will hate me but I have NO SNOW in my front yard (okay I have a southernly exposure and that majority is gone). I am kind of sad about it. I wanted to go out sledding more. :( Oh well Spring can't be far off. That means more snow melting for Cammie, Debbie and all.

BreTyPres87 As far as tips, we got the ponchos at a regular dollar store. The LED nightlights were great too. I think Debbie recommended getting a special scented candle for your room so that you will associate that scent with Disney when you get home. My biggest, bestest find on the boards was my baggalini. I LOVE IT!!!! I also packed all of Beth's clothes in zip top bags. That way when she wanted to pick out an outfit, it was all there. No arguements over does this match and where are my socks.

Tim is traveling again. I think he will be home for a month after this trip but who knows. I need to get moving, still in the jammies.

Ah, yes, I almost forgot the ziplocks - I actually did this for ALL of us back in May! It saves so much room in the suitcase, too! And I could coordinate all of our outfits so we looked good in pics. I hate when I'm wearing a red plaid blouse, Jeff is in green stripes, and Ally is in floral. Doesn't frame well. ;)

Okay - so we were planning on doing Epcot on Cinco de Mayo for Mexican food - well, that is the parks EMH night. Since we're honestly only going that night for just the atmosphere and dinner (and I'm not that impressed with SA's menu or reviews - sounds just pretty average) should we do something else instead?
