Hi Everyone,
We are in VA right now, it's snowy, but not bad. We are hoping for some good luck weather wise as we had a late start and are about 10 hours from home still. DH has to be to work tomorrow and I am scheduled to work at the school's Santa's secret shop tomorrow so we need to get home tonight. Our trip was amazing. I hate to be heading home but coming home to so much activity makes it a bit easier. I have gotten very spoiled having Mousekeeping, not to mention all the eating out. I don't mind the cooking but it was soooo nice to not have to do any dishes. The most I did was washing out our refilable mugs at night. Even the day I was going to do laundry my DH said he'd do it while the girls went shopping so I was truly on vacation and that felt great. But now, back to reality. Oh, yeah, we just crossed into WV, another state down!

So, some highlights of this trip to share...

We had a couple small "magical moments" though not officially. They both happened on Thanksgiving at the BBB. I took my younger two girls to the first appointments of the day. We got there early and the doors were all locked. It was a bit chilly that morning and they werre dressed as Aurora and Jasmine and were shivering. We saw a guy walking by and asked home when they would open for the 9am time slot, he clled and were told at 10 till. He suggested we wait at McDonald's but the girls wanted to be first in line so they huddled in grandma's sweatshirt and waited. We were the first ones in and got started right away. Our FGMIT were great, we had Gloria and Kellie. When we were finishing up my yongest was picked to open the WoD store for the day. She got to pull open the ropes and announce it as open for buisiness. They gave her a photo of her favorite princess, ariel, a card game, a certificate and an honorary citizen button. After the lady said she had not realized she had a sister and got my DD9 a photo of Belle and the Beast and the card game. She didn't have to, but it was nice of her. After we left BBB the girls were looking around the shop and that guy from the morning came over and asked if we had enjoyed ourselves and I said yes, they had a grat time and I was so glad that in the end I went ahead and scheduled it. (It was an expense I had debated for months, but went ahead on the "you only live once" train of thought.)He said he was glad we had a good time and hoped my dd enjoyed opening the store and asked if there was anythin g he could do to make our day more magical. I said no, we were having an amazin trip, everything was perfect. He then asked if he could help me find anything. I said yes, as I was looking for these hair clips for the girls. Earlier on our trip they had used their own money to buy neclaces and earrings. They are the same design as the hairclips they put on the back of the girls heads who get the princess bun style at BBB. It is the hiddden Micky shape in colored rhinestones. They wanted them, but as dancers, a bun like they have done often was not appealing. So, I had asked in BBB if I could buy them and was told they used to sell them out in the Princess room and to check. The person I asked had not seen them for sale in some time, but wasn't sure if anywhere else would have them. So, when this guy asked, I asked if he knew. He went off to find out and came back and said he was sorry, but they had been discontinued and the ones at the BBB were not for sale and when they were gone that was it. I said no problem, it was just a thought since they had bought the other thing. He said he didn't want me to leave being disapointed. I said I wasn't, I have always said the time you have there is directly affected by your attitude. If you go with a bad attitude you will have a bad time. I go expecting to hve a great time and always do. Not getting a hair clip is not going to ruin anything for me. He agreeed, and wished us a Happy Thanksgiving and said goodbye. A few minutes later he was back again. He asked if I knew about magical moments, I said yes. He said this was not an official one, but that he wanted to make sure our trip was the best and most magical that it could be so he had gone to BBB and got 2 of the clips for my girls. He said he really didn't want to have us leave at all unhappy. I again said I wasn't and while I was so happy to have the clips, I had hoped he didn't think I was complaining at all (I didn't know how he could have thought that bsed on what I had said, but I wanted to be sure.) He said no, in fact he wanted to do this because I had not complained and was suprisingly understanding. Oh, and the clips, he said, were "On the Mouse", no charge. That was really great. They had spent over $35 each of their own money on those sets, so it was nice to make the set complete and even nicer to get it in the way we did.

Well, that's it for now. DD6 is in need of a potty break so I am off for now. Chat with you later....

that is a fantastic little gift to your girls.

Be safe during your drive

MickeyMom~ Welcome Back! I'm so glad you had a magical time - can't wait to hear more. It's so nice when a CM goes out of their way to make your day more special!

Erin and Tessa, thanks for sharing your Christmas traditions with us! Sounds like alot of food and alot of work, but fun!

Good morning all! Gee, yesterday was a slow day around here.............

MickeyMom - Welcome home! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Where the heck is our chatterbox Kara?:confused3

My house is a mess right now - in the middle of getting out the Christmas decorations. I love the way it looks when I'm done; just HATE the process of doing it! And I still haven't done much shopping yet; although I don't think there is much I'm going to do anyway. I'm not buying a ton of things just to give the girls alot to open. They do need a few winter things but I can't afford to go overboard like I usually do. Sad, but reality!:sad2:

I was trying to organize holiday get-togethers with my family, and, of course, no one wants to come up to me!:headache: So, once again, I've got to pack us all up and go to them. I know, on one hand, it makes sense because my whole family is in Jersey; but I'm tired I've always doing the driving to them. Plus, with everything I need to take for Amanda, it is alot of work. It stinks being the only one that lives out of state - can thank my stupid ex for that!

Have a good day ladies! Will check in later.

May be our Christmas card; still have to check out my photopass pix:

Hi Guys! I am literally timing myself on the computer now because I could escape here all day and I have WAY too much to do. Besides this thread (my favorite place) and facebook and looking for cyber deals, downloading picture, I literally could spend all my time on the computer. Well, that has to end because for one poor Matthew gets way too much TV time and another I have challenged myself to pack stuff up and ship it out and around! My place is a joke it so filled from floor to ceiling!

I DID get the kids Christmas pix taken. That was NO fun but at least successful.
I did get my kids in the Chicago park district classes I wanted yesterday. That's never fun since it's like getting concert tickets. Spots are gone in seconds but I got all 5 classes I wanted!!!!! Matthew will be in ABC Art, Storytime and "fun with food" and Elizabeth is in two craft classes after school. She is crafty! Now I have to decide on swimming again or not. YMCA Gymnastics again is for sure. I love that class!

OK I get 24 more minutes and then I can't come back until tonight.

Cammie...I love the picture!!!!!!
Text Kara and she is busy with work and now she said she is sick as well. She sounds down. I feel for her!

Love the pics Cammie! What is that show? I really want my whole family together for Christmas at WDW one of these years.

Debbie - good job on getting things in order - I know we can get really sucked into this computer. I only have time for email, DIS and TGM right now. I still don't do much facebook - have you noticed? ;)

Jillian, have fun with your errands!

I have some deliveries to make, then I have the babies until 10pm tonight.
Myles and I are making a rice krispie house tonight.

I'll email Kara - I don't have free text.

Hi! I mentioned a couple of recipes earlier, so I thought I'd post them now:

For Christmas brunch, I like to do this breakfast casserole ahead, then pop it in and serve fruit and cheese and pastries or nut breads - I can enjoy my kiddos instead of being in the kitchen!

Egg Strata:

7 slices of day old bread, cubed
1 pkg. Jimmy Dean ground sausage, browned
6 eggs, beaten
3 C. milk
2 C. cheese, grated

Place bread in the bottom of a buttered casserole. Mix other ingredients, saving some cheese for topping, and pour over the bread. Top with cheese and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 for 45-50 min., until light brown and crusty on top. (Bacon can be substituted for sausage)

Russian Tea Mix: (for a small batch)

1 C. Instant Iced Tea (plain) 1 1/2 C. sugar
1 C. Tang breakfast drink 1/4 t. cloves
1 pkg. Lemonade mix (w/sugar) 1/2 t. cinnamon

Mix well and store in air tight container. To serve, mix 2t. to 1C. hot water

For a Large Batch to share:

1 jar Instant Iced Tea 3 C. Sugar
1 med jar Tang 1 t. cloves
1 1/2 C. lemonade mix, sugar added 1 1/4 t. cinnamon

Mix well in a large bowl, then place in pretty jars with directions on them.

Last year I got some nice holiday mugs and gave two mugs with a jar of Russian Tea for gifts - it was only about $10 per gift!

Okay, now I'll return the Bree wand back to Kara - I don't know what's happening to me - I even cleaned out my closet this past weekend!:scared1:

A few things I'm thankful for this holiday weekend..........................

(Miss me?;) )

Slowly catching up but I just had to say this whole post cracked me up!!! :rotfl2:

I'm not sure if it's a bad cold or allergies but I'm MISERABLE TODAY!!! Non-stop sneezing like I want to rip my nose off! My eyes are swollen and watering, I can't breathe, and I just want to sleep. I napped for an hour today but the voice mails just continued to pileup. Finally took a hot bath around 4:00 - and then worked until 7:15 to catch up. I was 25 voice mails behind at one point. I am now caught up so I should be able to "play" tomorrow.

I'll catch up later - but I'm heading to bed now - just need rest and I hope I'll feel better!

Just doing my job!;)

Feel better, Kara! We miss you around here!:flower3:

Kara, sorry I didn't get to email you - I had 3 babies today. I do hope you are feeling better tomorrow. We miss your cheery, sassy self!

Hey all you Easterners! Disney productions on Broadway are having a "kids go free" sale - tickets available for 9 days - Jan-Mar performances - here's the link:

I'm up and around today! But I'm sure it was "just" allergies - seriously knocked me flat. I have a horrible time with it.

OK, so let's see some pix of Christmas decorations! I took some last night with my phone and sent to my parents - but I need to use my real camera and get some. Last year we had only been in our house 3 weeks when I decorated so it was a rush job - this year things came together nicely. I'll post later.

No outdoor decorations this year - just don't have the time or motivation to do it. Just a wreath on the front door and maybe some garland and bows on the porch railing. Last year I went all out and did the icicle lights, plus lights on the trees, bushes everywhere! It looked awesome! I hate not doing it this year, but there are only 2 more weekends before we go to Ohio for Christmas, so just not worth it.

Still not sure if we're doing WDW this weekend. We haven't reserved the room with Jeff's Hilton points, so we may just drive down Saturday for the day, and do Epcot during the day and DHS at night, then drive back. Too much to do before Christmas and not enough time. Then we also want to have Jeff's cousin and his family up from Orlando for a day. Plus, Jeff wants to have an open house for his office. Oy vey! :scared1:

Sweet story - over the weekend we were sitting outside at the bar and Ally was of course, ahem, bartending. She said she wanted to "give her tips to poor people." I told her she could drop her money in the red bucket at the grocery store where the Salvation Army bell ringers are. So she went inside and wrote a note...

"I feel bad for you and my mommy is going to find us a way to help you. Love Ally."

I cried! I told her I would find us a place to volunteer a few hours a week starting in January - maybe a soup kitchen or somewhere that Ally can help, too. She wants to put the note in the bucket, too. How sweet is that?

Hi Girls..
I am still limiting my computer time to about an hour in the morning but I HAVE TO CHECK IN WITH MY FAVORITE GALS!!!!

Momof3.... Glad you had your magical moments! Thanks for sharing!
Jillian...how was shopping and family time?
Tammie..thanks for the recipes. Don't do tea but cut and pasted the breakfast casserole.
Cammie...I need to head back over to your TR for some more pix!!!!
Kara...sorry you were sickly. I can totally relate. Adorable story about Ally. I sure hope you can make it to WDW for a little shot of Christmas magic.
Laura..I just got that book Harriet... you recommended. Elizabeth loved it!
Renee...how are things? Everyone getting to feeling better yet?
Tessa and Erin...do you guys decorate in the UK like we do here at Christmas?

Oh my goodness Kara that made me tear up for sure .. Ally is asweetie well done you on raising a kind hearted girl

Tessa and Erin...do you guys decorate in the UK like we do here at Christmas?

Think everyone here is starting to decorate more and more .. I only decorate the inside, just the tree and few other bits and bobs, and Chloe has a small tree in her room with decs on.

Hope you're all good it is so very cold here i hate winter

Cold here, too and I'm in Florida!!!!! Very frosty this morning, looked like snow on the golf course!!!!

kara that is awesome. You are doing agood job with here

Debbie--love the Elizabeth likes that book. When I am at whits end I will say Elizabeth my darling child, you drive me wild and we both get a good laugh.

Tim is home for awhile and I will have my computer time limited because it's in his office. I am hoping once he gets started at Dell I can find a good deal on a laptop. I just can't go with out one.

off to make my baking list. I am thinking of peppermint bark, peanut brittle, date balls etc..laura

Tammie - love the bfast casserole recipe! That sounds quick and easy - two words that I love in the kitchen! ;)

I usually make cinnamon rolls (the actual cinabon recipe) but they are a pain to make! If I get started around 5am, they will be ready by 9. Too much of a pain. And then I would take them to the neighbors houses. But since we're gone this year, and all our neighbors (all BOTH of them! :rotfl2: ) are gone this year too, I don't have to torture myself.

Renee - glad you liked that pork chop recipe! It's one of my faves. So easy and the house smells so good while they're cooking! I love my crock pot!

Ally is so excited cause we're going to the store tonight. She gets to drop her change in the Salvation Army bucket. And I get all my Christmas baking stuff. I think I'm making gingerbread men, snowballs, and some little bite sized nut rolls that Jeff's grandmother used to make. I'm the only one in the family that she gave all her cookie recipes too. Pisses off Jeff's mom and sister, but I was the only one that ASKED for the recipes and actually spent time baking with Jeff's grandmother. Gee, go figure. My grandparents all died when I was really young, so Jeff's grandmother was just like MY grandmother to me.

Last night we were going to start baking, but I felt so bad that she just told me to go to bed. I thought for sure she'd still want to do it, but she understood. And Jeff has a conference call after work tonight so he'll be home a bit later anyway.

Debbie - any way to post that video I made for you? I emailed it to some of the gals that I had email addresses for but I wish we could post it here!
