So did everyone survive the inlaws and outlaws of the holiday? :rotfl2:

MIL and I left the house at 5am today to hit some sales. We were home by 7:30 and didn't do too much damage to the checking accounts! There were some good sales but nothing outstanding for me out there.

I found Ally an MP3 player for $17! That's the only reason I went out so early. It's teeny tiny but it'll be good for a 7 year old. And MIL got her a telescope for $18! It's nothing powerful but I think she'll enjoy it - then I found her a book on the constellations. That should be something fun for all of us. Now I'm on the phone holding for Dell to order a laptop for Jeff and Ally. They've got some good sales going on right now. I called my BIL, who also builds computers as a hobby, to ask him what I needed to get. The main thing Dell is offering right now, is a HUGE discount on the 3 year pro-support package. That's a big deal to me because I've called them probably 4 times in the year I've had my laptop for work. It's great piece of mind for me.

Hope everyone ate lots of food yesterday, lots of leftovres today!!!

Thanksgiving couldn't have been better!!!! I need to somehow document it so that it can pan out like this again! Mark only irritated me once by making ME have to tell him it was time to go to my Aunts. He knew the game plan so I didn't think he needed to make me the bad guy who had to say "we have to hit the road". We were by his Mom's from 1:00 -4:15 and my Aunts from 4:30 -7:30.... We ate at both places and never did I feel rushed (except at 4 when Mark was irritating me). It was heavenly!!!!!
Ironically, I am exhausted and I don't even have anything to do for Thanksgiving! WTH!

Have a good one girls!

glad to hear it went well Debbie. Go Kara- that support deal is a good one. I'm feeling better. I hit some Kohls---crazy lines. I did get a new bedroom comforter for a steal. I had my 15% off coupon on top of the early bird sales. Other than that no real good deals for me.

Who here has the American Girl Doll...I know Debbie does but is it durable? beth wants one and I a bit concerned that it will be a lot of money for something that she won't enjoy. She loves her barbies

Hi Laura! I am so sorry you were so sick! That stinks!
Congrats on the shopping. Yes, we are the ones having an American Girl doll birthday and Christmas. They are durable but they still can be ruined so you will have to use your judgment. For one I have FORBID Elizabeth to ruin her hair!!!!!! At the store by us they actually have a salon for the dolls!!!!!!! I guess they fix the dolls hair for the very reason I just said. Elizabeth is 6 and I think she is just old enough. I think they are really geared toward 8 year olds. Elizabeth initially had a bitty baby. What about that? Very cute and much more durable (no hair). Still has adorable clothes and matching outfits and such!

Who here has the American Girl Doll...ies
We have the Bitty Baby. Mia likes her - mostly because the eyes open and shut. I bought the case will all the extras - which she loves and plays with all her babies. She also has the Bitty Baby Crib, which is really sturdy. Mia actually climbs in and pretends to nap. As for HER age and the doll - she really likes the FP Little Mommy one the best. I know that for the older AG dolls, my neighbors daughter was way into them up until 12 yrs. They went to do the mother/daughter Chicago weekend then. I would guess she is a good age, but I don't know for sure. :confused3

I survived yesterday. SIL slumped to a new low - just showing up as we were eating. I cooked (the turkey was warm and serve) EVERYTHING and then as I sat down to eat, Mia plopped in my lap and ate my turkey. By the time she finished - no turkey left. :sad2: I was glad to see her eat something though.

Both kids on meds now. Mia for double ear infection, Nicolas for severe sinus infection. Mia is so sick it is just sad. I'm glad we are home.

Kara - I've got your pork chop recipe in my crock pot right now. Smells so yummy! :cloud9:

Hope everyone had fun yesterday. I braved Target at 7 am - got Disney movies for $11. I bought 4

I braved Joanne's this Am, but got out before it got crazy. Here's the fabric I got to make the girls a skirt.

I saved $80, but I don't know that I'll do that again.

yes the stores were crazy today. Will be interesting to see how the media portraits this one...

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm staying home now and Tim is headed to his family. I think I caught the yuck or it could be the flu. I had the stinking flu shot. Oh well have a great time everyone.

I too am thankful for meeting all of you this year

Oh, sorry your were sick. I'm glad you're doing better today.

Hi Kara! You scored some good deals! I have a Dell and got the 3 yr protection - I've used it once, but I was on the phone for 3 hours with the technician one night - I was really glad to have the plan!:thumbsup2

Debbie! I am so happy your holiday was nice and relatively stress free!:cloud9:

Too much triptophan from 2 dinners! :lmao:

Pretty fabric! It's nice to see you again, Tina!

Of course everyone went shopping only because we have a new president soon! :rotfl2:

Our Thanksgiving joke: Myles brought home a paper turkey that the teacher wrote the results of her question to him - "What are you doing for Thanksgiving?" The answer - "I'll be at home and we'll eat some turkey. That's a dead bird."

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sounds like everyone had a nice holiday! Our dinner turned out great! BTW, my DSIS rubs olive oil and seasoning on her turkey and does the 500 degree thing too! We hadn't ever discussed it before.

My parents came and Jim's mom - she only stayed long enough to eat and leave - she's uncomfortable around my parents. Today, she came by and had some pie and stayed awhile.

Jim and Myles were on a mission to put up the tree today, so we got the decorating done already, and Jim and Mark put lights up on the house, and deer out front. We bought some new lights - They are round clear globes in multi-color - I had the clear icicles for way too long :goodvibes We put some twinkling snowflakes over the 3 front windows - I like the change! Simple and pretty. Nothing really fancy, though.

Mark and Lindsay went shopping at 5am - madhouse! We stayed home and I got Jim's gift online - a Garmin that everyone had for early bird specials today - only $8 more online - worth it to be able to sleep in and be snug and warm! Jim got up to listen for the babies - they were home before anyone else got up! They got some good deals on a camera and some kids toys.

We went to see the movie "Fireproof" tonight. Really good! :thumbsup2 If you get the chance, please go see it. It was about a marriage in trouble and the guy's journey to discover how to fix it and win his wife's heart again! It made me cry, and made me appreciate my hubby. It just pointed out how sometimes we start to take each other for granted and then let distractions and selfishness creep in.

Well, guess I'll say goodnight - I'll check in on some TRs, and then I should get to sleep - my mom and I may go out to some craft bazaars in the morning!

P.S. I read on another thread that Cammie will be getting her computer back today! I can't remember if it was here or just her TR, but she got a nasty virus! :scared1: Cammie! We miss you!

Just a quick message .. I have a tricky day ahead, Chloe's other set of grandparents are coming to see us today, only happens once a year (yeh i know don't get me started on that) but is always something i dread and especially as Chloe and i had our chat about her dad i feel even more on edge than normal .. So wish me luck that everyone leaves alive and unbruised :rotfl: no i'm not a violent person but these people hurt my baby all the time because they don't bother so i always come very colse to the edge of my reason and normality

Anyway glad to see you all had good thanksgivings i will check back in later xxx

Tammie - That is just too funny about Myles and the Turkey! :rotfl2: Good for you on decorating. I may work on the tree tonight. I decorated outside while singing "man's job" to the tune of ELMO's world while around Carlos :lmao: He didn't find it as funny. I just put our garland along the door facing, tied bows, put up our snowman, plugged it all in to the remote on/off switch and done! Very simple this year, but super easy. After all, it was 53 degrees out there - I thought I would freeze to death! :rotfl2:

Laura - Hope you are feeling better. Flu like yuck is no good.

Kara - Those pork chops are amazing. Carlos even asked what other ideas you had. There was only on part of a chop left over from dinner. HUGE HIT!

I still have nothing for Carlos. He sorta hinted about the crocs with the liner. I just hate for him to have nothing to open. I did get him some lounge pants, but there isn't much you can do when you're trying to cut back. :confused3 I still want him to have SOMETHING to open Christmas morning.

Yes...Cammie! We better be your first stop back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck. It will be fine!!! Stay strong and keep us posted. We will be thinking of you!!!

Hi Tammie...glad you had a nice Thanksgiving too. Now on to worrying about Christmas Eve!!!!

Renee...I copied that recipe as well and will try it this week I think.

My Mom and I went to Macy's today for early morning specials plus my Mom oped a charge so we got ANOTHER 20% off. Well...I ONCE AGAIN spent too much money but got some HUGE deals on dress clothes for myself and the fam plus a couple gifts. Unfortunately I had a bonus 20% off for Gymboree too so I spent too much there as well.
Oh I got those new Croc boots (Nadia)! They are awesome. $70.00 marked down to $47.00 just for the morning and then an additional 20% off of that! Score!!!!!
Tomorrow we are off in the morning to take Christmas pictures! Keep your fingers crossed fro me!!!!!

Hi Tina..nice fabric. Good find!
Hi Laura!
Kara....where are ya? What are you off at WDW for a weekend jaunt?

Hi guys - I finally got the computer back! I got a phone call that it was supposed to be ready last night; went down to Best Buy to discover that they hadn't re-installed everything that they had backed-up. I know it probably would have been easy to do myself but I wasn't taking any chances. Besides, the Geek Squad guy offered to do it for me at no additional charge; would just have to wait until today to get it back. Um, yeah - I took that pity offer!

Anyway, I'm trying to catch up. I really want to get moving on my TR also. I promise to go back and read what I missed. Hopefully, I'll be up to speed by Monday.

Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Turkey Day!

Hey Debbie - Talked to a fellow DISer, Ellen (podsnel); she told me she gets that pop-up that infected my computer also. Says it always happens when she's on photobucket. Anyway, she was told to just hit the power button on computer and shut it off. When I talked to Geek Squad, they agreed; said you shouldn't do "control;Alt.,delete". They told me not too mess around with that. Whatever you do though - DON'T click on the "x" to close the pop-up; that just keeps it alive!

Cammie - what type of box is this? I haven't heard of it so I want to watch out. We keep having a Yahoo update one pop up, but for the most part my pop up blocker keeps those things at bay. I would totally though the right thing to do would be to click the X though. :scared1:

Glad you are back - MIssed you!!!!:yay:

yikes! That is a scary virus. Glad the Geeks were able to help. Okay this might sound odd but we know the Robert that started the Geek Squad. Best Buy is based in MN and Tim used to buy computer parts from the guy. They talked off and on but never about the geek squad. I truely believe it is a 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of thing.

I'm feeling better but my brain is still fried.

So did everyone survive the inlaws and outlaws of the holiday? :rotfl2:

Just barely!!!! Wow shes a monster in law, dident even say goodbye or thanks for "slaving over the stove for 2 days after we invited oursleves to your house and ruined your original plans to go to your moms...!" If I dident love my hubby as much as I do I would laugh my tush off as the front door hit her in the rear as she walked out, catching her ankle in the back and making her drop the flowers she took home that she brought for MY dinner table. OH YEA, IT WAS A HOOT!

Hi JerseyMamabear!

Okay guys.. I have a serious question. I know Beth is a bit excitable and over joyful at times. I am really struggling on how to deal with her. We are getting mega attitude from her. Nothing is consistent. One min it will be happy and cheerful then next tears and anger. I am trying a book called Raising Your Spirited Child. It was recommended to me by my old daycare gal. She swears Beth meets all the "spirited" criteria. I am so afraid that she is going to get labeled. Anyway, just curious if anyone else has heard of this term....

Lindsay with her psych degree told me that some people are genetically wired to be overly emotional about some things - excessive celebration for something good - terribly dramatic about something bad! She tends to be a little that way - being Italian, but Mr. Myles can be quite dramatic and emotional at times. She says that when she was little she felt almost panicky out of control, and she had to learn to deal with calming down her emotions, so she is trying to help him learn to deal.

We, being Scandinavian and English are very quiet people - sometimes we have to go hid, cuz it's like living with the "loud family" from SNL back in the day! :rotfl2:

I don't know if that helps, but if you can be sure there isn't anything that has changed dramatically for Beth, or if she has always been that way, she probably just needs a little understanding.

Hey everyone - I just have to tell you how happy I am tonight! You know about my struggles with Dana not wanting to come around, and the girls not getting along too well, which keeps the boys apart. Well, my boys and their wives hung out and had pizza and watched the game and talked for 6 hrs tonight while I was doing church stuff. I don't think they have ever done that in their lives!

The girls, who don't usually get along - went over to Ryan and Dana's new house alone for a couple of hours and talked about scrapbooking and cricuit, and watched part of a movie together.

It feels like we might actually get our family back yet! :cloud9:
