Hi Everyone!

I have been cleaning all day so I will have to catch up reading the posts tomorrow. I just can't believe the last post was at noonish.

9 month olds with colds are  I can't believe someone so little can be so fustrating. I am so tired. They have been calling me to work and I just can't do it. I'm lucky I am awake:surfweb:

Hiya all,

thanks for the kind words on the pre trippie..

Debbie - hows the DD??? sounds like the pneumonia has really got a hold of her, hope your sanity is holding......

Kara - if i were you I'd go ahead and let her wear the dress unless she has another she would get as much fun wearing...- my girls are just taking one dress for their P+PP, princess breakfast and anytime else they want to - and the dresses they are taking have been washed sooooooo many times now.... but they do come up nice each time.. So if it does get a bit dirty here's what I do:

I spot treat the stains with Vanish (you probably have your own equivalent over there..)
then turn it inside out, put it in a pillow case (comforter cover??)
then on a cool wool cycle in the washing machine on it's own , with a small amount of non-biological powder (the stuff you use for baby clothes) - DO NOT HIGH SPEED SPIN
then dry on the line and iron it on cool, inside out with a muslin square between the dress and the iron (so the trim doesn't catch) DO NOT EVER EVER EVER TUMBLE DRY!!!!!!

I had a Belle dress I put in the drier- the trim stayed the same size, but went tatty, the bodice shrunk the arms shrunk, the skirt was in panels and half of them shrunk - the rest didn't!!!! The petticoat didn't shrink - if it had been brown it could have been Cinder's before dress!!!!:lmao: Won't do that again!

Tessa

Good Morning!

Tessa - Thanx for the washing tips - I never thought to put in a pillow case! I washed DD's old Belle dress after she wore it trick or treating and to a Halloween party. It drug on the ground and was all beat up anyway, so I wasn't really concerned about how it washed up - it was just going to be for around the house play anyway - but boy did it get messed up! So that's why I'm so afraid to wash this one. It's beautiful!

plus the cute little shoes!

yeah, I'm a sucker, I know!

Jillian - So sorry to hear that you little one is sick too! This is a very bad year - even on American Idol (yes, I admit to watching this!) they were commenting on several contestants who were sick. And I was talking to some folks I used to work with who missed work this year for the first time (that I know of!) in 6 years.

Debbie - what did the Dr say?

Y'all have a great day!

Hi. I'm a control freak and big worrier planning my first trip to Disney with my ds (almost 4) . :scared1:

so any help that you give would be great!

How do these plans sound? This will be our first trip to Disney, and just wondering how this will be with an almost 4 yr old.

(day starts 4 am) arrive Sat @ MCO around 11, go to AS resort. HOPEFULLY checkin & get a nap. If not, head to Magic Kingdom. Dinner at CP @ 6. If nap - catch wishes, if not, return to AS after dinner.

Sun - MK at opening. Nap. Dinner @ Chef Mickeys or Whispering Canyon. This is EMH for the evening.

Mon - AK. Morning EMH. Hopefully nap and back to watch the parade. Maybe Whispering Canyon dinner if not the night before.

Tues - MK at opening. Chef Mickeys at 10:30. Leave for airport 2pm. (better to spend that time in MK or @ Chef Mickey's)

I'm a little bummed because I'm having a tough time figuring how to squeeze in DHS. I want to be at AK opening morning, but I also want to catch the parade. DS is big animal lover, so this may be a fav park for him.

My head is about to explode getting this all done! Fortunatly the APS makes you think about where you will be what day. I couldn't imagine figuring all this out while there!

Welcome!!!! I think if you're only interested in the 2 parks, that looks great. With a little one nearly 4, I'm sure you'll want to nap a couple of days just to avoid wearing down too much (although there is really no getting around it at Disney!). I hate seeing someone go to the World though and not see Epcot since it's my favorite park, but I totally agree with you on this one - 4 days and a 4 year old, I think your plan looks good, but if you have the park hoppers, I would try to sneak in DHS only because of all the Playhouse Disney activities and characters there! Maybe skip with AK parade and head over to DHS after nap that day?

You're smart to begin planning BEFORE you arrive, at least some sort of plan of attach, just so you won't be too overwhelmed. Remember, take advantage of baby swap so you can go on some of the "big kid" attractions, too!

And just have fun! You will be amazed at what the little ones can "endure" for the love of Disney. DD had just turned 5 when we went the first time, and she was a daily 2-3 hr napper. We only did 2 naps in 7 days and she was an absolutely PERFECT child princess: the entire trip! Well, she's always perfect in my book :lovestruc but she never had a tantrum, meltdown, etc, because there is just so much to keep them occupied at that age.

Thanks for your help. I'm starting to get a little concerned about the trip. DS generally doesn't nap during the days. He gave them up at 2 yrs. I'm uncertain if I will have any luck with the nap or not. It's nerve racking to know your first day hinges on early check in AND him napping!

I guess another option would be to get there that day and try to do either DHS or AK that arrival evening. I think he will be so tired by 6 - so I want plans kinda to stop then. My friend just suggested not going to MK that first night because dragging him out could be a problem & taking him to AK that closes at 5 could be easier to deal with.

Too bad I have no crystal ball to know if we will get early checkin! Called Disney Travel to ask if we could put that in as a request and they said no, just to call the day of arrival and see.

Quick one gang....
I have not read any posts in a little while but wanted to tell you that thankfully the doctor said DD is better! He said to just have her take it easy now, watch out for the cold weather and ease her back into her activities. I am so glad she is better. What a relief. Now if winter would just end I'd really be happy!
Thanks again for all your well wishes! I hope Badookie is feeling better too along with all the oyther sickies young and old out there associated with my favorite thread!
Speaking of favorite thredas... I think there are a few Disers MIA from here.....
Lisa and Cammie to name a couple....

I will catch up tomorrow - hopefully!
I miss reading what's going on with all of you!
WELCOME...UsNew2Disney2008 I will read up on your scoop tomorrow.

Welcome UsNew!!!:cheer2: I think your plans look good - it is really good to go back and nap and refresh for the evening with little ones. I hate seeing tired, crying kids at the parks and the parents have the "I'm paying alot for this vacation - now you're going to have fun!!" attitude! You have to give little ones a break!

I would say definitely be there early for rope drop - get fast passes early in the day - they run out my afternoon - the longest lines we encountered were for Peter Pan at MK and Little Mermaid at DHS. You can be done with most of what you want to do my mid-afternoon and then just relax.

Feel free to jump in and vent with us - we love new friends! :grouphug:

Debbie, I'm glad your DD is clear! I hope you all continue to get better :thumbsup2

We seem to be passing this virus back and forth -DGS and I are draining and coughing again now. My head is so stuffed up! I have a really busy weekend - I don't have time to be sick!!!

Just a quick happy weekend wish to all!

Debbie - soooo glad you got a positive DR report! Now just take it easy this weekend and things will be back to normal before you know it! Look at it this way, at least you're not the one getting snowed in right now!! :rotfl2:

Tammie - No! Not you again! Stay in bed this weekend and rest!

UsNew2Disney - Don't count on that early check-in, but make sure you have a bag packed with swim suits so if the room is not ready you can just relax by the pool (or head straight to the park!). Also, we've found that a little light banter with the CM's at check in sometimes prompts them to add a little extra magic, like finding you a room that is ready. Who knows? :confused3 Not sure when you're going though - is it tomorrow? :scared1: If so, have fun!

I have had the two most horrible days at work! I worked 6 years for a wholesale distributor as the customer service manager and when we found out we were moving, I was able to get a job also as customer service mgr for one of our largest customers - AND I get to work from home! But when I hired and trained my replacement, she was just nasty to me! And once I was gone, she started firing all the people that had been there a long time, and replacing with people she used to work with. She no longer interviews for positions, she just brings in outsiders and hires them. And the owner of the company has apparently buried his head in the sand. This is a $25 million company, the largest wholesaler of this product in the southeast. So my old peeps still call me, and email me, etc. It really ticks off this new chick that I have that kind of relationship with my old employees. She has turned it into a very us vs. them environment there, and she even fired an entire department right in the middle of the busy season! So in comes her best friends to fill the void. Well, I've been trying to deal with them on issues and I am now the customer. All they want to do is discredit me to my old boss and make themselves look good. No offense, but I was there 6 years, I know what I'm talking about, and I'm pretty good at my job. I've had to get my new boss to handle situations now with this company because all the new people want to do is make it difficult for me - I think they are threatened by me because I had a great name there. My boss cried when I told him we were leaving, it was a great relationship. But boy oh boy are they working him now. He sent an email to my new boss and referred to me as "your people" - what is up with that???? I literally woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep because I want him to know that he is being lied to by these newbies! But he doesn't want to talk to me. He thinks I'm being rude and trying to dictate how the newbies should do their job because I used to work there. But I'm not!!! It's really ugly and it is so unprofessional, like a bunch of jr high girls. I don't want to be a part of that! But at the same time, I want to clear my name. All the folks who know me and still work there are all threatening to walk out, and the owner is fine with this because, again, my replacement and all her cronies have worked him over big time. It's so sad really. I just can't let it go though!!! Am I being irrational?

Ahhhh, TGIF - tomorrow it is going to rain all day and I'm glad! Yes, I want a lazy Saturday afternoon to nap, wake up and eat junk food, and then nap again if I feel like it! :rotfl: I don't want to shower or change out of my PJs until dinnertime! Pretty sad, but I'm looking forward to that!

I'll probably check in later - y'all have a great weekend! Everyone feel better, and if you're NOT sick, stay away from public places so you don't GET sick! :lmao:

Kara, I'm so sorry you are going through that stress! You are the customer - could you find another distributor so you don't have to deal with them anymore?

Pbharris (Pam ) I DID earn $50 more in Gymbucks! I need to STOP shopping:rolleyes1 !

DisneyOhana (Lisa) Where are you & how is your Mom & family doing?! I would love to get together still. We just haven’t left the house now in ions:sad2: !
Magicfor2 (Tammie) I hope you feel better. It is the worst part about being a Grandma:sick: ! You catch everything!!!!! I hope you rcoup fast...all of you!
Ahibird (keahi) Your cruise plans DO sound fun. We are contemplating a cruise one of these days. We also want to get back to Hawaii!!! This year we will probably do the Naples Florida trip with a short WDW jaunt.
tttessa (tessa) How is your weather? Where did I miss a little pre trippie?? Sorry.
Lovin Life ( Pam2) How is your Mom and the new baby doing?
Have you gotten out yet with your hubby!
Camster0307 Where are you girl!!!!!
Sewer hi!:thumbsup2
soontobewed07 (Jillian) How is the baby? Is he feeling better the poor thing!
karajebo0 (Kara) That work stuff would piss me off to no end! What makes it worse is that so much is out of your hands. It’s sad. My Mom always used to say to me that everyone is replaceable. No matter how much you are loved or how good you are, it really doesn’t matter in the long run and I have to say I agree with her 100%. People take people for granted and are very ungrateful!

OMG in one week you will be in the happiest place on earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:
UsNew2Disney2008Your plans sound good. I have taken both of my kids since they were 11 months old and up and they have always surprised us (in a good way). My kids have never been good sleepers but in WDW we did a lot of stroller naps! It's very convienent!

I am doing OK. I am still having the occasional outburst but I can kind of see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Have a great weekend everyone!
BTW Did I tell you I found my "new" drink at none other than Costco. I swear I haven't drank since I got pregnant with DD in 2002. I would have to say maybe a total of 10 drinks at the very most A YEAR! But tonight I cracked open the bottle and am going to take up drinking again!:rotfl2: Maybe I will increase to 15 drinks a year!!!!
image-cocktails.jpg

Guess which one I am trying now????

I have a naughty, obnoxious Disney related email to forward if anyone is interested. I was just going to forward it to my pals here who's email addresses I have but then I realized I could offend. The worry wart in me saved it to draft.......
It is pretty funny...crude but funny.

This is NOT it...
......this one is for you Kara!!!!!!
sickwdw.gif

One week baby!!!

Isn't it funny the cartoon has Tammy in it.....

Hiya all

Kara -
what a STUNNING dress!!! wow I see why you don't want to have to wash it! OK, I changed my mind -I would wear an old one for the P&PP, that dress is toooooooooo cute for messing about on the rides!! Imagine chewing gum....:scared:.

Debbie - soooooo glad dd is ok, must be such a relief - have put the pre-trippie link at the end again- all are welcome to comment, but no-one HAS to if you know what I mean....., I keep meaning to type up my packing list in there, but we are still paring it down..... You have kept up well with all of us on here considering - I love to see one of your multicoloured posts every now and then - helps me catch up too;)

Getting the pre trip blues now - 42 sleeps to go ..... kids go back to school Monday after our half term break, that might cheer things up a bit - most of the break has been spent on buying trainers(sneakers) - exchanging the ones that don't fit!!! hair cuts etc. We had a good day yesterday - making chocolate shapes in owl shaped moulds and "snowballs" - white chocolate crispie cakes with marshmallows..mmmmm. They are learning to skip - jump rope..... and can both jump a few times if we spin a long rope, but if they are doing it on their own small rope they do one , then another separate one, then another separate one......:goodvibes
This week's break has been well needed, I think we have all recharged our batteries and are ready for another term at school.... before THE BIG ONE :woohoo:- can you guess I'm looking forward to it!

Checked the ADRs, checked the P&PP tickets, just need to check our pre flight hotel - doing it with our discount token system- apparently they let you have your voucher only a week or 2 in advance, I HATE that - as a worry wart I really like to have things arranged FOR CERTAIN well in advance...

Hi to everyone else too - nice to see some new faces joining us as well, everyone seems to fit in really easily on this thread - I vote it the "nicest" on the DIS.

Tessa

Hi ladies - I'm FINALLY back! I was dealing with an illness also - my computer's! My Windows crashed on Feb.7th; I was back & forth with the "Geek Squad" for two weeks (because I wouldn't dare try to fix anything myself!) Was so excited to get it back last night - was working just fine in the store; got home and couldn't get an internet connection. The snowstorm may have had something to do with that. Anyway, was thrilled to see I connected this a.m. I swear, if I ever questioned whether I had an internet addiction I think it has now been confirmed! I was going OUT OF MY MIND without my computer!:scared: Seriously, I was near tears in Best Buy yesterday - I just wanted my computer back!

I'm looking forward to catching up, but will have to wait until tomorrow. I'm out all day today at the movies - my girls are with their dad and the "premium cinema" by me is running an Oscar movie special. For $30, you get a reserved seat to watch all five nominated pictures. My girlfriend and I are only staying for three - "There Will Be Blood"; "Atonement"; and Juno". Have already seen "Michael Clayton" and I'm not too interested in "No Country.."; besides we'll be at the theater from 1pm-8pm. I think that's enough!

Talk to you all later - I'm so happy to be back with my Dis buddies!

Debbie - So sorry your DD was sick. I'm glad she is doing better. It has been an awful winter though. I hated going out it the cold the last couple of weeks. My mom is feeling better. My dad though had a high glucose reading and might be pre-diabetic. He doesn't want to go to the doctor about it though. He never goes to the doctor. I am trying to find out more about what he should be eating and what he should be avoiding. How's your DH been doing? Are his meds working well for him?
Let's try to get together on a nice warm day.

I hope everyone is feeling better. It sounds like everyone needs a vacation. Luckily most of you will be getting one soon.:dance3:

Wow! Lots of posts since yesterday!

Debbie - LOVED the cartoon!!! :rotfl2: And so true! I thought I was coming down with something yesterday, turned out Aunt Flo was stopping in for her monthly visit - which, if my counting is correct, means I'll be in the clear for our big trip in May, and of course for next weekend! Now that's something to cheer about! :cheer2: Isn't if funny how we try to plan that all out??? Oh, do send me the email you received - the "naughty, offensive" one!

And did you read where I made drinks last weekend with that new X-Rated liquor? We made the "X-rated Vacation" which was soooo yummy, and I was going to make the "Cotton Candy" but couldn't figure out what chilean pisco is - any ideas???

Cammie - I hate it that you had no 'puter! I would go nuts, too! Especially since I'm at home now and nobody is looking over my shoulder all the time to see what I'm working on, I'm surfing the 'net all day long! Glad you're back! That Oscar day at the movies sounds great! Very smart of the theaters to do - seems I never know any of the movies anymore, I just watch the Oscars to see the dresses!

Tessa - Now I'm totally frazzled! I was all excited to take your laundering tips and let DD wear her new dress to P&PP next Saturday, now I don't know what to do!!! The only other one she has that may still fit and look halfway nice is Sleeping Beauty and not sure she'll want to do that. I made t-shirts for all three of us from the Creative Disigns board. They are plain white t's with this on the front pocket area:

piratemickeyheadkara.jpg
ally.jpg

DH and I have the same design there.

Then on the back:

Ally and I have the same design:

PP_pink-1.jpg

And DH's design on back:

PP_pirate-1.jpg

I think this will be cute for us, but I don't want Ally to feel bad if there are a ton of other girls her age in princess dresses!

Lisa - glad to hear your mom is doing well but make sure you keep an eye on your dad! That's one thing you don't want to mess with!

Cutting it short (for me this IS short! :rotfl: ) as DH is in a shopping mood right now! We're off to find a wall entertainment unit and new TV - yea!
