Debbie - Did you see the pix of Zac on the cover of Rolling Stone? Now I wouldn't mind that shot in poster-size!

Pam - I've lurked on a lot of threads, especially ones about those "magical gatherings". If there's one thing everyone seems to agree on is that it is best for families to split up for the day, do what you want, and then get together again for a meal. You won't be able to please everybody, and while it's nice to have family with you on vacation, it's still your vacation too and I would make sure I got to do what I wanted to do. Stick to your own plans; let your sister go her own way if she wants.

Do you mean like the "boo"? I have this pic?
ThnksMickey.jpg

Thanks, Debbie! I love it! Can you make it bounce? We need to find an icon that we all have in our siggies that shows we're worry warts/control freaks!

You dirty ole woman! I love it!

I am going to highly encourage it, especially after the last couple of days and conversations w/my sister about the trip. I just don't want her to be miserable and unhappy doing everything that we want to do. You are also a dirty ole woman!

No Debbie...Print this one on a T shirt!!! I had to double take myself...those eyes..those abs...Wish he was 30!!!

WHAT EYES? He has eyes?! He is legal. He's 20! Feels like I was just 20 yesterday...:lmao:

OMG - It's so nice to know that other moms are drooling over Zac like I am. My daughter thinks I'm pyscho!
If loving Zac is wrong - I don't want to be right!

OK - We have certain things that we do on all of our WDW trips - Rainforest Cafe and Downtown Disney on our first day, breakfast at CRT, CP and the Fantasmic Package at H&V. My sister is challenging everything, especially here lately. I think she's had time lately to think about everything, and she is not planning this trip, and it's bothering her! I told her that they do not need to do everything that we do. I know I am being a brat, but it was our trip first! They wanted to come along. I am so glad that they are, but I am not opposed to going our separate ways occasionally, and hope that we do! There's a lot more to it, but a lot to type. My parents want to do everything that the kids want to do, but my sister has other plans. I am just frustrated!!:headache:
I think you are handling it perfectly. Tell her what you guys are doing and let them know they can join you or not.... I love when someone takes on all the planning on themselves. My Mom does a HUGE junk of that and I love it (because we share the same interests). If she wants to leave you guys at times so be it, right!

Yes, this makes for a much better shirt! He He he!

:wizard: WISH me luck tomorrow at the party...I am sure I will be back tomorrow night really happy or very upset........

You said it, sister!

Thanks. It just makes me feel bad. :sad2: I want everyone to be happy. I told them that no one can be unhappy in Disneyworld! Besides that, my dad can tend to look at the negative side of things, and will nitpick on every little thing. If the service isn't perfect in a restaurant, he will be very gripey. My mom leans toward that way, but not so much when she's around us. I just hope everyone has a good time, especially my family. We look forward to these trips so much. I told my mom that I will just tell them out loud, "that is not allowed in Disneyworld! Everyone is happy!".:)

GOOD LUCK tomorrow at the party! Here, take some pixie dust w/you!!pixiedust: I will not be doing laundry and packing the night before our trip,

You are so close to your trip!! ARE YOU PACKED YET?? I wouldn't be, but for some reason, I would guess that you would be!
I will not be doing laundry and packing the night before our trip,
I will not be doing laundry and packing the night before our trip,
I will not be doing laundry and packing the night before our trip...
I hope this works!!:rotfl:

We set up the school carnival, went out and ate a huge lunch!, came home and took a nap! (I love afternoon naps!!) and we're headed up to the school to run the bake sale! My mom, dad and aunt will be there. It is the first time I will see my mom since her accident. I know I will cry like a baby when I see her. I am so thankful that she wasn't hurt badly or we didn't lose her.

:grouphug: Pam2

Now girls (oh, just thought , could be boys too ;)), there seem to be a lot of rampant hormones going round in the US!!! Is it something in the water!!

I like MEN (in capitals!!) myself - the Tommy Lee Jones / James Woods type. mmmmmmmmm - something to do with the rugged looks and voices I think.... Still can't watch the kids Disney film Hercules without a smile.....;)

Hope everyone is doing OK, you are sooo right, there are so many more illnesses about at this time of year!

Do you get flu shots automatically over there??? Over here is just the oldies and "vulnerable" kids who get one never had one myself. Mind you, only ever had flu once in 43 years, so the odds aren't that high anyhow.

Cheers,
Tessa

Good luck today Debbie.

Don't worry - Be Happy!:yay: Sending pixie dust your way - pixiedust:
(and if that doesn't work - I suggest a bottle of wine!)

Our flu shots are open to everyone, and the especially recommend that the elderly and children get them. Some years we have a shortage of them, and only the elderly and children are supposed to get them. I don't think it is the case this year. I haven't been consistent about getting them, and have been pretty lucky in avoiding the flu. Last year I didn't get one and got the flu - was totally out of commission for 1 1/2 days. I could not get myself out of the bed, w/chills, fever and body aches. I was so relieved and lucky that the rest of my family didn't get it.

I need to find more rain ponchos! Our Walmart shelves have been wiped clean of them lately. We need to go to Bass Pro, but I am afraid that it will turn into a very expensive trip. That is DH's favorite place. That and Home Depot. I want to cry when I am dragged into that place....

The weekends go too fast. For me, time is going too fast. I cannot believe that this week is Halloween. I picked up a Christmas present this weekend, and am done w/my brother and SIL. Yippee! 2 down, 1000 to go. Just kidding. Seems like it though....Need to get thru November bdays first. Taylor (DD9), Darrin (DH), Mom, Dad, SIL. Have Mom, Dad, SIL's, will get Taylor's next weekend at American Girl Place, but DH is challenging. Maybe a Bass Pro gift cert?? I don't know the first thing about buying fishing supplies.

Have an awesome day all!

Just a quick fly by....
The party went fine except DS is sick now too. DD is on the mend and DS is going down.....
NO MENTION of Thanksgiving:headache: ....
I guess that's kind of why it bugs me that they don't just work around us. They have no one else but each other to worry about (point being they don't even discuss it until the last minute). I love them all but they do things different then me. They are not like my side AT ALL (very fly by the seat of their pants). It was better for me though because now my DH can just talk to them over the phone about it all and I don't have to feel all uncomfortable face to face with them talking about it. I will still stress that it won't go my way but I am still taking all your pixie dust and hoping I get my way.

All I am asking is for them to do an early Thanksgiving....I don't think that's a lot to ask.:rolleyes1 My Aunt is serving later to help out.

I have never posted to this particular thread, but it defiantly suites me .

I do get stressed out over silly things really, I am OCD. I really try to keep myself in check so my kids don't pick up on some of it to much anyhow.

My big thing is lists like grocery or anything that goes on paper....I will rewrite it until "it's perfect for me". usually by that time I have most of it memorized:headache: :rotfl2: . It usually takes me 3-5 times to get it write if its not "right on" the first time. I do that also with the kids toys, everything has its place and i don't like it mixed up/ I have learned to not say much though. I wait until the weekend and have them clean there rooms REALLY GOOD.

I am always stressed out over everything. I do alot of analyzing of all the possibilities for some actions...NOT ALL.

I am now trying to get our Christmas trip organized for the 6 of us . I am currently worried about paying the rest of it off. we have until the 10th of November. I know we will have the money , but it worries me until its paid for!

We are putting on Xmas for 42 family members, all dh siblings and there families plus his parents. :scared1: :upsidedow . I like a really nice appearance for our table etc. well dh sister is doing the dinner with us, she owns a restaurant. its not exactly the place I would pick but it can hold all of us! we are doing dinner on the 25th for out of towner's to get back etc etc. she offered to use her LEFT OVER DRESSING for our dinner:sick:  . I already don't see eye to eye with her so I bit my tongue and am letting dh handle that idea. its fine for eating left overs but I want our meal to be fresh made that today, not days prior. Am i just being over the top on that. I told dh theres is no way I am eating all her restaurant left overs for Turkey day dinner! he agreed with me.

I could go on and on but i hate to bore you all

Hiya Steph - :cheer2: Welcome :cheer2: - you sound like you will be right at home here!!!!

I COULD NOT CONTEMPLATE having that many in one place for Xmas lunch, gives me the chills to think of it, I don't blame you being a list maker if that's the sort of thing you have to deal with.

As to the dressing, I can see where you are coming from, but to be honest I would just say "Thanks so much for offering like that, that's one thing I don't have to worry about". That way she is on side, feels important and is less likely to provide stress on other things.

'cos you do know, don't you, that no one will care less about the dressing - it's the meat everyone talks about!! Was it dry, juicy, tender etc . ( And of course, you can always provide another FRESH dressing with a different flavour as a choice.;))

(shhhhhh!! I am the diplomat in my family who always gets her own way anyhow, but no-body knows it!!! shhhhhh!!!:rolleyes1)
Cheers,
Tessa

Welcome fellow list maker, Steph! :cheer2:

I make lists of my lists. It's the only way I can operate and remember everything! Not everything gets done on my lists, but it's there staring me in the face to remind me!

42 people for Christmas!? Wow! You are very brave. I'm afraid I would have to supply the meat and stuffing as we call it, then let everyone else do the rest - a pot luck type of thing. I can see how you feel strongly about the dressing though! For me, that cannot be bad. It's my favorite part of the holiday meal. My siblings and I have had some serious fights about who gets to take home the leftover dressing at my mom's!:rolleyes1

Good luck w/your December trip!

Well last night was a major bummer! DS got progressively sicker throughout the day yesterday into the evening and we ended up taking him to the ER at about 10:00PM because DH & I didn’t like the way his breathing was going. It seemed to hard for him to catch his breath. They diagnosed him with Croup and gave him a nebulizer treatment and some anti-inflammatory meds. He is doing much better now! Thank goodness. The poor guy!

Welcome. Like Tessa said this is the thread for you!! No vent is to silly too vent about here. We all stress about random nonsense all the time!!! Good luck with your current stuff. You can't even get me stated with the holiday stuff cause it's when I am at my craziest and not for the reasons one would assume.

BTW My DHs side orders from a restaurant on Christmas Eve and it drives me nuts. To each his own I understand but it's not how we do it. My Mom puts on a gorgeous and delicious Christmas Eve dinner so I am spoiled and that is all I have ever known. I know I am being judgemental when I stick my nose up at it but if you know where I am coming from with DHs side it would make sense.....

I am disinfecting the house now and have decided to avoid all other activites outside the house until after our trip (aside from school).....

I am super tired with a ton too catch up on now so I better go back to chores....

:sad2: I can tell I am getting sick.... I will fight it though! Anyone feel like when they start to get sick they can nip it in the bud? I sometimes feel like I do with a double dose of vitamins, extra C for sure, Advil and Claritin D. It usually helps unles it's a doozy. I know I am not getting rid of it but if I can at least function I am good. We just need to be rid of all this for our trip!!!!!! I worry about the Grandma & Bappa now.

Yikes Debbie - You've had a rough 24 hours! Hope your DS is feeling better - so scary. As for you, have you every tried Zycam?(i think that's what it's called) It's that medicine you're supposed to take as soon as you feel a cold coming on. I have friends who absolutely SWEAR by it. I never have it in the house, so my cold gets a good 12 hour head start before I take anything.

You all need to get healthy! Disney awaits!

Hi everyone! I'm back! We left Tues eve. - had a nice dinner at Outback with DS and his little family. Got to the airport at 5am on Wed am - we had a great flight - two short legs. We celebrated DH's little cousin's 14th bday at Hibachi steak house. I had a great conference, and DH built a deck for his uncle. Us gals ate at Joe's crab shack on Thurs, and Rainforest Cafe on Fri. We didn't have time for the Mouse, or even DD! I did do some disney shopping at the Hilton! :rotfl2: Yesterday we went to see WICKED in Hollywood!!! Loved it! They do an awesome performance, and the Pantageous Theatre is incredibly beautiful and historic! If you get a chance to see this play - do it!

Okay, let's see if I can respond to some posts from you girls - sounds like some of you had a really rough week :sad2:

Pam2 - Sorry about your mom. I'm glad she will be fine, and you're right - sometimes we forget how quickly life can change.

Debbie - Hope you didn't get  I used Zicam, and then I read about, and then it happened to one of my mom's friends - that some people are losing their sense of taste permantley after using it. We now use Airborne when we are being exposed, and herbal Get Well Soon from Arbonne. I like to think I can decide not to be sick, too! :rotfl: Hope everyone is well so you can get on with your packing!!!!!

Oh, the turkey, 15min per lb. at 325 ;)

Tessa - I vote for MEN also!! :thumbsup2 But it's fun to pretend we are just girls for a little bit once in awhile :goodvibes

Steph and Digman6 - WELCOME!!!! Stay and vent awhile!

Flu shots - are not designed to prevent any and all "flu bugs" The CDC tries to figure out which one is coming to us from China this year and makes a vaccine - this is only for one strain of true influenza - which causes respiratory problems with it. That's why people get sick in spite of it - half the time they predict the wrong one! :confused3 Hope everyone stays well! :grouphug:

Thanksgiving - my MIL always makes sure she is the first to invite us, and we all agree to go there - my parents usually go out of town to one of the sibs. My FIL and MIL are playing favorites with my oldest DS - almost to the point of wierd. No one else matters right now, not even DH - and MIL and DIL sit in the corner and whisper together whenever we are all together. I guess she gets the "babying" that her mom and I have not done for her. So, we feel a little jealous, cuz we would like it if our DS wanted to spend time with us like he does them.

Now our youngest DS is going to have to quit his job and move his family in here so they can finish school, so the oldest DS will stay with the inlaws when they come to town. I feel like we will really lose our connection now. :guilty:

Oh! I was just going to do a fly-by, and now I have been venting  Oh well, hope things go better for all of you!

Hi everyone else!!!

Hiya all

Tammie - sounds like a great trip!!!!

Debbie - I hope you don't get sick - anyhow mum's aren't allowed to be sick are they??? They still have to be the glue that holds it all together no matter how ill they feel!

just a quick fly by - I MUST do some housework before the house starts to smell!!!!:scared:

Cheers,
Tessa
