...It is so funny how all these only children think so differently. I thought everyone would say that it is so lonely being an only child. It makes me feel better knowing other people had great lives even though they were onlies, just in case we can't have another.

Hi Lisa - I saw your other thread, and I was going to comment there, but I think I feel more comfortable replying here.
I am an only child, and so far, it looks like DS8 is going to be one, too. I like to think that I grew up to be a semi-well adjusted adult (though DH would probably debate that... ). I'll admit there were times where I wished I had a sibling to play with, but considering I had two parents who loved me and surrounded me with family and friends who did as well, I think I was pretty darn lucky.

DH comes from a large family so DS has many, many cousins to play with. DS also has a few friends from school who are also onlies, so it's not like he's "different" from the others. DH and I just try to follow the example my parents set - lots of love and extended family. We've talked about having another child, but we realize we're no "spring chickens" anymore. DS was a blessing to us, and we're incredibly grateful to have him. If we're blessed with more children -- Great ! If not, then so be it. :goodvibes I'm just thankful I was blessed with the family and life I have...

Hope this helps. --keahi

Pam, a couple of weeks ago, I was having quite a bit of stress, and then I started having what started as dizzy spells, and then got to heart pounding fast, and jaw hurting. I could make it go away by laying down and taking deep breaths. Not brought on by excercise. I spoke to the surgeon I work for, and he said it was GERD, and my esophagus was spasming, which made by vagal nerve respond - causing the wierd symptoms. He gave me a rx for Tagamet and I have been fine, except when I don't remember to take it. I had a friend who went through months of expensive tests - same symptoms - eventually they diagnosed the GERD. Too bad it took so long to find it. Had i known.... anyway, sounds like your DH is on the right track. Tammie

I was just sitting here posting on my laptop, watching LOST when the doorbell rang - it was a Sheriff Deputy. He said there was a 911 call and hang up from our house, and then when they called back there was static. I invited him in and he wanted to go all the way in our bedroom and check to be sure DH was okay:thumbsup2 It was nice of him. I thought I had solved this problem last week when the same thing happened, only the Sheriff Dep didn't ask to check on anyone. We were saying then - you probably should check the house out:lmao: Anyway, it's either the wet weather or the TIVO - I have to call the phone comp and find out tomorrow. It shakes you up when a cop knocks on your door at night - especially when the weather is bad like tonight. :scared1:

Hi Tammie,

Sorry you had to go through that, but thanks for sharing your story. That sounds like what happened to my DH. He was sweaty/clammy, tingly, bloated feeling, belching every 3 seconds. No jaw pain though. He has passed out on the VRE (Commuter train) before and had to wear a heart monitor, but everything was ok there. The ER Doctor told gave him Zantac and Hydrocodone (he wasn't in THAT much pain). He already takes Aciphex (daily)and Mylanta sometimes. They don't seem to be working :confused3 I guess he has to try different ones to see what works.

Gosh, I'd panic if a cop showed up at my door w/o me calling. I did have the cops call me because my clever DD(3.5) called 911 and I didn't know it!

Have you seen the movie?

:sad1: Oh my. I got it from Netflix a month ago and figured I better watch it so we can get something new. I knew it would a tear jerker, but I didn't think about it too much until I started watching. I mean I was heave ho-ing. My dad looked just like Jack Lemmon (I've had people come up to me even asking if it was him.) He also had the same personality as the Morrie in the movie. My dad didn't have ALS, but he did have essential tremors (familiar tremors-inherited) which when he had Hodgkins made his hands shake just like in the movie. Gosh, it was like watching my dad die all over again. What's weird is that the very, very end (like the last minute or two) the DVD was freezing up so I couldn't really watch it. I suppose it was a blessing. I am going to have warn my sister not to watch it.

I think if the Sheriff showed up at night I would have had a heart attack!:faint:

One time my DD called the police from my cell phone and they showed up! It's nice to know they show up, right!

Pam I did see that movie and it is such a tear jerker! So sweet and sad!

Where's Maureen???

Hi Everyone....Just wanted to do a quick hello!!! I will be back hopefully tomorrow to type later!

Here's a ton of new snow pix ........
I really hope you guys don't mind...

And if you can believe it the snow is already almost gone!!!!!!!! Most of those pix were taken less then a week ago!

Debbie - Loved the pix and your new sig. That picture w/your dog is unbelievable. My mom's dog hates the snow. Your DD looks like she is having the time of her life out there. I tried to go outside w/DD today and I kept feeling achey so we had to come in.
Ahibird - Thanks for easing my mind. I think you sound very happy and well adjusted. I now know that our DD will be fine if we aren't able to have another.
Pam - Glad to hear your DH is okay. That is so scary that he passed out on the commuter train before. I hope they find some new meds that actually work. My grandma had a huge ulcer in her stomach. She took Prilosec for two weeks and it was almost entirely gone. She had the belching problem, too.
Magicfor2 - We had police come to our house a few years back. My BIL called them and told them we had kidnapped my sister and her son because she didn't want to talk to him. He was drunk and acting kind of crazy. She had already left our house and went to my mom's. By the time the police got there, BIL had called a few times yelling. We lived in a condo so the doorbell rang the phone. When we picked up the phone they said "This is the police, let us up." We ignored it at first because we thought it was BIL's voice. Well, it wasn't and they got up and knocked at the door, one w/a gun ready at the side of the door. We of course opened the door and let them in to see she wasn't there, but it was freaky to be in that situation.

Hi Everyone! Update on the phone: the repairman came out - the prob is in a line on the next street and "this problem makes it call 911 sometimes, sorry." :sad2: This morning the phone was gone and we still don't have it fixed. We have gotten a foot of snow now. It has let up this pm - expected to dump again tommorrow! Watch out Debbie it is headed your way!

Debbie - your "snow bunnies" are adorable!
Pam - hope they find the right meds. I have heard that Prilosec or Protonix are really healing.

Boy, I guess we have all had some ::cop: stories. I am wondering what the neighbors are starting to think:rotfl2:

Pam - I didn't see the movie yet. Actually, I don't know if I should even try. I haven't been able to watch one of my fav. movies "Return to Me" since DD was born. I am afraid I can't handle it.
Did you guys ever see the movie "Stepmom"? I thought that was one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. I haven't seen it in years but I can still remember most of the movie. I can't say that about other movies I've only seen once. For me, my brain seems to remember more things from personal sad and happy moments than anything else. I can't remember good jokes, I was terrible w/remembering dates in history class, and in those reading tests where you have to read something really quick and remember the details, I didn't do too well. But ask me about some happy or sad memory from when I was 5 and I could tell you all about it.

I can't bring myself to watch alot of those tear jerkers. I know they will be good, but I feel just about sick when they are over. :sad1:

hi guys, I just wanted to say Hi. I have been trying this whole get up at 5:30 and get stuff done thing and I am exhausted! But I am getting a lot done. Now I am off to walmart! Wish me luck.

Hi Everyone,

No terrible weather here yet but it is pretty chilly. We ventured out today to our outdoor mall because there was a huge Gymboree sale(Some of you can appreciate this…PAM)! I spent way too much money there but SAVED a ridiculous amount too (plus I had a gift card).
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Of course I had to go to the Disneystore because they have stuff on clearance too! It was all really cute but I held myself back and just got a few clearance items. The clearance stuff ended up being next to nothing! I got a couple toys, a DH shirt, and a DD shirt! I also went to Pottery Barn. I LOVE those Chamois sheets they have for babies, well I just found out they make them in all sizes (Queen, King, Twin, etc). Best of all they had it in a duvet cover too! I was so.....tempted to get it for our bed but they are a fortune so I restarined myself!!!!!!!! I did end up with a pillowcase for DD and one for DS. I used a $50 gift card too so it wasn't bad at all.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Drop in and say HI! Some of you have been MIA and I don’t want you to leave our happy little thread!:grouphug:

TinkLvr(Maureen) Where are you?
Pam(Pbharris) Did you go to Gymboree for the extra 20%????
Lisa (DisneyOhana) We will have to set up a day to meet again at the HIP or Yorktown. Maybe we can do it that second week of March or something (since March is right around the corner)
Hannasmamma 5:30 AM!!!! I wish I could do that. No matter how early I go to bed my body does not function properly before 7AM
Magicfor2 Speaking of tear jerkers did you watch Grey's?? Do any of you guys watch it? It's one of my favorites.
How's the phone situation? Any more police stories? Did you ever hear about the story where the women called 911 to send an officer BACK to her house because she thought he was hot! That was me!! :rotfl2:
No... just kidding!!!!!:rotfl:
She got in HUGE trouble! BIG fines!
Ahibird My Mom and I were talking about how we are missing Hawaii these days and my Mom thought she read somewhere about a hotel with a huge water park in it. Does that ring a bell with you? Whenever we have stayed on Maui we would stay at the Embassy Suites and every time we do we realize that the sun always seemed to be blocked on that side of the island more so then other parts of the island. Do we sound nuts? Well, we have always talked about trying somewhere new but we aren't good with change. Oh well. We can't go for a while so I guess we have time to think about it!
Sewer How’s your weather situation? We aren’t getting very much snow per say….looks like it’s going to be sleet!
Fromscratchmom Are you still checking in???

HI to anyone else I may have missed!!!!!!
Have a great rest of the weekend!:yay:

Control freaks or non-control freaks ... either is fine with a tad bit of moderation. =)
And knowing when planning turns into worrying and worrying turns into fear ... and then what to do if it does ... :flower3:
Best of Luck ...

Hi, Debbie!!! He's good. Working all day today and will be home around midnight. I actually have a few hours of it being quiet. That'a rare as we are all gabbers! Now...you KNOW I wouldn't miss a sale at Gymboree! I got a few things off clearance for next year and a few new things too. I got DD a cute pair of plaid bermuda shorts and a pair of lt. green capris, and a few other items. It's Gymbucks time too! When it's time to redeem them, I'll redeem them and then I am soo done. EVery year I have some clothes she didn't wear and I threw the receipts away. If you have a Gap or Gap Outlet near you, they are having an extra 20% kids and baby right now. Kids and baby logo sweatshirts are $7.99 and Women and Men's Logo sweatshirts are $9.99! Those were at the Gap Outlet. I like Gap too for my kids. It rarely shrinks and fits pretty close to size like Gymboree.

DId anyone see Grey's Anatomy? I watched last weeks episode again and then the new one. It WAS sad. I just love Derrick and Meredith. Mostly Derrick. :cloud9: I read somewhere that they are think of doing a spinoff with Addison doing that show. I wonder how that would work? Right now I think the whole cast just clicks so well. I really wish Denny didn't die. He was soooo charming and cute, too. Just like a big old teddt bear..you just want to pinch those dimply cheels and give him a hug.

I love Grey's and I cried so bad when Denny brushed by Izzie.
I REALLY hope it works that way!

Addison is getting a spin off. They are going to bring on a new love interest for her and then he will be on the spin off too.

BTW Pam I spent WAY too much today and can't wait to do it again when I redeem. I LOVED a ton of stuff this time. I did a few of the navy polka dot stuff, Valentine's for next year, multi colored capri's,a white top with a sequince flower on it......
I really wanted this denim jacket and it was gone. Here's the line were I got a few pieces at that clearance price but not that jacket......

There is this whole gopher golf line I want for DS. Plus I want to get DD that whole pink teri line! I don't even see it on line yet.

I love Gap too. My Gap outlet is an hour away though. I wish I could go there tomorrow but the weather here is rotton! I have sleet/ice beating against my window right now.:headache:

I checked out your link and started putting things into my cart! I stopped myself before I bought it, but it's still in my cart. I have a shopping problem.
