Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one who planned and then planned some more. Last spring when we went all the plans had been made and on day 3 of our wonderful family trip our DS(8) threw up:sick: while standing in line for the Land at Epcot. He was sick for the rest of the trip (5 more days and the 11 hour drive home! ) Not to mention the baby got it too.
That is my biggest worry about our upcoming trip! Luckily though, I adore my stepmother in-law who is going with us and know that she will be there to just be that extra set of hands! Plus she has never been so it is like going with another kid who has never seen the castle!!
Any how I also made ADR's at the 180 mark too!!
Thanks for letting me vent!!

Welcome, dwaddict:welcome: The ladies on this thread are great! Please join us...I think you will feel right at home!

Pam...OMG, it would be so funny if I said that to my FIL. I would love to see his face, too. He can really dish it out, but he can't take it. I am working my way up to making a comment like that. I have really be trying to speak my mind lately and not worry so much about what people think of me. I have to admit, it
feel great! We just built our house a little over a year ago, so if you have any questions, please ask.

Hi to everyone! Debbie and Lisa, hope you are staying warm in this frigid weather. I will check in tomorrow.

I just thought of a funny story I wanted to share. Yesterday, I was on the way home from picking DD up from preschool. She was asking me a bunch of random questions. They must have been talking about the solar system at school, because she asked me, "Mom, is PopPop from this planet?" :rotfl: I told her yes, but thought to myself, "sometimes I wonder." I had to try so hard not to laugh, because I didn't want her to think i was laughing at her.

Hi Debbie - we love you too!

Hello everyone - had a busy day today! While I'm here I thought I would tell you about my worry over the weekend - which turned out to be nothing to worry about, of course ;)

My DS wanted us to book a DCL cruise for all nine of us - two sons and their families with myself and my DH. We then thought it would be nice to invite my DH's uncle and aunt who are our age, and their DD, 14. So, we spoke with them, and they said they would go if we went on a Western Caribbean in the Summer. So, the cruise dates for 2008 came out, and no Western in summer - we couldn't afford the Riveria for all of us, so we assumed they wouldn't want to go - we booked a Western for Sept. I got an IM from the aunt "did you see the Riveria cruise?" I felt really bad to tell her we had booked without them, because maybe we should figure out something else:confused3

I worried for two days that we had hurt their feelers.:sad2: My DH called and spoke to his Uncle, who totally understood, and said maybe we can try again in 2009 - now I can stop feeling  about hurting them!

Magicfor2 - I found the Pirates of the Caribbean info right here on the DIS, Disney World Information. I thought it would be cool if Johnny Depp was going to be at Disney the same time as us. I doubt it but was just wondering who the special guests were. You have to be at the event to see them but I've heard of people seeing actors at hotels, airports, etc. You never know.
Tink - I am just like you. I have gotten a little better at telling people how I feel, but I haven't told anyone off yet.
Debbie - I feel the same way. I think of everyone on this thread as best friends. Nobody hurts each others feelings. It's great. You can be yourself here.
Pam - I feel for you. I actually live in an area that is okay but the schools aren't as good here as on the other side of town. I could also use a little more room in the house, at least a basement. We plan to look when our DD is going to Kindergarten. That way I could work to make the extra money for the house and DD could go to a good school. I hope everything works out for you.
I hope everyone knows that I wasn't saying poor me about the weather. I think we are all suffering. Well, not Ahibird. The weather here just got so bad for me that I don't want to leave the house, and I love to get out normally.

That's too funny!!! :lmao: :lmao: It's funny how at that age how they pick up on things.

Going to the World June 6-12. I am totally obsessing. I can't seem to get myself off of this site to do housework or pay attention to the kids. I booked all the meals today and made my daughter an appointement at the BBB. My DH thinks I am crazy and that I will ruin the trip will all my over organizing. I pointed out the he wouldn't enjoy getting there and going hungry because we can't get into any TS restaurants.

What he is really worried about is that I will stangle his mother who is going with us. She is my opposite. Unorganized and a dippy sometimes. I planned out all the meals and what parks we should go to for each day. If I could get show times I would plan that too.

I am sick and I need help. pirate: pirate: princess:

Hi Everyone…

:welcome: Welcome to all our new visitors…visit anytime, lurk if you would like, VENT anytime! Ask anything..
Share, laugh, whatever….we’re here for ya!

TinkLvr(Maureen)Your DDs story is too cute! They know! Your FIL is making me mad!!!
Pam(Pbharris)I have to admit I am confused about if you want to move, have to move, not moving????:confused3
I am living in the house that I grew up in above my parents so I can’t even imagine moving! I'm a baby! (I did move out to go away to college and for the first year of our marriage, but that's pretty much it)
Lisa (DisneyOhana)We need to set up another play date! We had fun last time! I just want the weather to get a little better. And no I didn’t think you were complaining too much about the weather. This is the place to vent, remember!
HannasmammaMoving all those times! Wow! I couldn’t do it! I bet your life is clutter free though! Have your kids had to change schools or anything like that? I hope your throat gets better. You have to careful that you watch strep. Untreated strep can turn into spinal menengitis right???????? I could be wrong (no medical backround by any means). Remember I am a worrying hypocondriac so now I am worried about you! I just heard a yucky horror story in regards to this. I'll spare you.
2Pirates_1PrincessNobody here is going to think you are sick. You are among "your people". You can't do Disney "half a**". People don't get it and I feel sorry for the people who do go down there without knowing everything you should do ahead of time. I know exactly what mode you are in. Been there, done that, wishing I were doing it right now! Plus, I think anyone who goes on a trip with a difficult relative should be up for sainthood (Maureen too).
Magicfor2When you tell a story like you did about the cruise it sounds like I am reading my own post! That would totally be me! Don't you just wish sometimes that you could be like some of those other people who don't care what anyone ever thinks! Wow! I worry about what complete strangers think of me! I still keep thinking of this woman who I accidentally cut in front of at the HSM concert and didn't realize it until I turned around after paying for my shirt. I still want to find a way to say "sorry". Sick? Probably!
AhibirdI am still jealous of you right now. I am not going to lie. You are actually making me want to visit your lovely state again (if it wasn't for that darn 9 hour or so flight)!
dwaddictWhat are the chance you have another stomach flu ruin a trip, right????? 1 in a million I would think! Hang in there!

Big Hi to you guys too!

Just trying to get over this weather… I think of you guys all the time but am trying not to spend too much time at the computer by the time I’m done reading my “computer me time” seems to be over leaving me no time to respond.

Did you guys see the show on “clutter” today? I rarely watch the show but I did today when I saw what it was about. Well, my house absolutely is not that bad but I could relate to her way of thinking…… WOW! I would love some free assistance like that but on the other hand I know I would be hyperventilating over people wanting me to throw stuff out!

Also, have you guys been reading on the DIS about people getting postcards offering 40% off discount codes and pins? I want that card!!!!!!! What’s the deal??????

Let’s see what else have I been meaning to talk to you guys about…

I was actually considering going to WDW at the beginning of March but haven’t seen any good airfare. I have to get away from this winter tundra! I am so crabby that I need my WDW therapy.

I really I hope I got to catch up with all of you. If I missed someone please feel free to fill me in agin and know it's not personal!

Thanks for listening…

Debbie

Has anyone ever purchased the Mike tour guide book to Disney ? I just wondered if it was really worth it. If there is valuable info I might spend the $21.95. If he is just gonna tell me to take a nap in the afternoon and get to the park early then I can use the $21.95 shopping at Disney instead. Could use an honest opinion here.

Thanks

pirate: pirate: princess:

I never got the book but I have thought about it. No opinion for ya from this end. Sorry.
Good question.

I purchased Tour Guide Mike and I think he has some good information. I tried to follow his recommendations for which days to go to which parks and the crowds were always manageable. When I went against his recommendations, it was always much more crowded. I think it is definitely worth the $$.

Do you think it is better than the Unofficial Guide, because I've been buying that one every year. I feel like money spent on preparing for Disney is an investment for my trip! We are going in May! Made all the "important" ressies, just need to fill in some dinners. Any suggestions? We are doing HDDR, CRT, Ohanas, Brown Derby(Fantasmic) and dd is doing the tea party with Alice. OK gotta go to bed now. (I feel the same as you Debbie, I never have enough time to reply. Between this thread and the focker watcher, who has time for post?)

I bought the Passporter Guide to WDW (got it at WalMart.com). I love that book. I bought both the DIsney Cruise one (really, really helped) and the WDW one. I'd buy it again in heartbeat. It has everything in there. It also has ratings of restaurants from customers, the authors and their neice (for a kids point of view.) I've had WDW for kids, Birnbaums Guide as well. The Birbaums Guide was a waste of money. They left out some really good tips that I learned on here, but I can't remember what they were. I haven't seen TourGuide Mike's book so I can't compare, but if I had to recommend a guide it would be the Passporter..it's a planner's dream come true. At least this planner. ;)

:goodvibes Hi Everyone!

Jacqlyn, I read somewhere that the "unofficial guide" was really put out be people somehow connected to Disney - therefore biased. Although, aren't we all biased FOR Disney:love:

Hannahsmomma, we bought the Frommer's guide to WDW, and also the passporter. I felt like the Frommer's had alot of insider info, but I loved the passporter for planning! I sent the Frommer's WDW for children guide to my DSIS - it looked really good, too! I think I bought the Tour Guide Mike also, is it an E-book? I liked having the real book better!

As for ADRs - we loved the Brown Derby and the SciFi diner for it's quirkiness. We are looking forward to Ohana's this trip. We did the Luau last time - it was good, and we really enjoyed the show. This time we are doing HDDR, and Cinderellas GF at the GF. In DTD we ate at the Portobello(?) I loved it, but it was noisy - my DH didn't like it - he thought it was way over priced for the atmosphere. Happy Planning!:yay:

I love HDDR, we went last year and I got pulled up on stage, I will try to find the pics and post the one of me trying to do the can can in flip flops! Oh, and Dh got a "lap dance" believe me that is not a good word, it was completly G rated and right next to dd6 who thought it was the coolest thing ever. The performers are so funny and the food was great.

I'm another poster who can't really answer the question about Tour Guide Mike but I'm chiming in anyway. I bought The Unofficial Guide and also Walt Disney World For Your Special Needs from Passporter. Both had a lot of good info for me. The regular passporter books seems like a dream with its pockets and all. But their special needs book gave ratings on restaurants based on just how noisy they get. With people who are likely to be even more overstimulated than the average tourist at Disney that was very helpful. I was able to avoid the restaurants that I knew would be the loudest and wildest and plan a few meals where we could 'decompress'. So my kids got some fun character meals and also some down time.

Maybe one of us should post a new thread in the "parks" area or the "families" area. I'm sure there are some dissers out there that can give informed opinions about tour guide Mike's book.

Hi everyone,
I always consider getting those books. Maybe I should look into it more for our next trip OR I could just have you guys read them, do all my research and I will just bug you all with all the questions!

I managed to stay off the computer all day yesterday! That is miraculous! I did miss you guys though (that's the problem!).

My cousin and her son (9 months) were over. She has adolescent onset epilepsy and has been on medication for years. Well, she found out her body can't handle her meds anymore and she has to go completely off them. Her blood pressure was so low they didn’t know why she wasn’t passed out. They blamed stuff on being pregnant but now that she had the baby they see it’s not getting better! She is scared to death! She can't be alone now for months while they wean her off the medication plus she is paranoid her seizures will come back. There is absolutely no driving for either. Thank goodness she lives downtown so she can get to a lot just by walking. She is pretty bummed! I feel so bad for her!

TINK…can I take my naproxsin for pain or do I have to keep on it for it to work?

Have a great Friday!
STILL cold here!
Hopefully I will be back later!
Hannasmomma...PM me or ask me anything here. We have ate at a lot of places!!! CRT is my personal favorite! We LOVE Chef Mickey. GF Cindy meal is real nice, I can go on......
Debbie
