Where are you flying babyB staying? Where is everyone staying who is going soon?
I know FromScratch you are at All Star....

Well, I've been so keyed up that I've barely slept the last two nights. And now I am so tired that my neck and shoulder muscles are screaming just from the effort of holding my head up. I guess it is a good thing that this happened this early. I'll end up crashing and sleeping through the night tonight and then probably be able to keep sleeping well enough to be well-rested on our travel day.

I am mostly packed now! :cheer2:

Ofcourse there are a couple of things left that we will have to add the night before and a few things that we'll add the morning of, like our medicines.

I've got a ride to the airport arranged and I've got the kids on board with the idea that they may not touch the suitcases or anything that I have put in them! (not even to look and see what is underneath!) :cheer2:

Good Job!!!! You sound like you are doing great! I can't beleive you are leaving! Seems like we have been talking about this trip a long while!
Debbie

Fromscratchmom-you sound like you are ready to go! :cool1: I am always a last minute packer, so my goal for my January trip is to be packed a week in advance. Have a great time. Hope you enjoy MVMCP..we had a great time there. I just watched the WDW at the Holidays special on the Travel Channel few nights ago. Its a great show...maybe they will replay it again before you go.

I am staying at Pop for one night then BWV when I go in January. We are staying in a 2bd and I am so excited to have a washer and dryer! My goal is to pack as light as possible (of course, thats not very light w/ 3 little ones!) and to do laundry while there. I think it will be nice to be able to do laundry the night before we leave and come home with all clean clothes.

I had a very productive day today...I feel much better about Christmas now. We did breakfast w/Santa this am. My sister came over and helped me bake cookies and make food for the Christmas party I am having Sunday night. I finished decorating my house and I just have to do last minute cleaning for the party. Also, I am done shopping for the kids. Hopefully, I can enjoy the holidays this year since I am almost ready for them. Usually they just stress me out!

One bad thing...while I was decorating, I heard my son coughing a lot in his sleep. He was on amoxicillin the week before we went to WDW, then they changed him to Cefzil for 2 weeks and he still had thick mucous and a bad cough. I guess its back to the dr on Monday for us :sad2:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

Thanks, Tink. Packing ahead of time is really making feel like I'm doing well. Plus it has the added benefit of forcing me to get my laundry completely caught up and keep it that way for the next 2 days. I tend to let it stay in a pretty bad state. Don't you think I should go to Disney more often for the sake of my housekeeping? :p

Good for you, getting so much done! I've got my tree up and my presents bought and wrapped. But I'll have to do all of my baking after we get home from Disney.

Sorry about your son. My kids have been sick lately and of course that is stressing me out even more than usualy colds and flu bugs, since I'm so worried about it getting better before we leave for Disney. I spoke with someone at the pediatricians office the other day even though I'm fairly certain that it is viral. Luckily they told me that it sounded like a thing that was going around and would probably run its course in 3-5 days. If that's it, we'll be OK by travel day. Plus it made me feel better to get a few pointers on how to be caring for them.

Debbie

We have, haven't we!

Debbie, thank-you for starting this thread and being such an encouragement! It has truly been a big help to me.
:grouphug:

You guys sound like you are ready to go that's for sure! How exciting! I know I keep repeating myself but I am so excited for you guys going there now. We have never been there at Christmas time. I would love to see that special on WDW at the holidays. I can never find it.

Tinklvr..... I too think it would be awesome to be able to do laundry there. You could pack so.... much lighter then.

Congrats to you guys for on all you are getting done.
I feel like I am forgetting to do things and now it will be too late. I already missed a couple sales I wished I shopped at. We had a real cold spell here for a week and I feel like it set me back because I didn't want to drag the kids out into it. I better make a list and get it all together over the next couple days. I shouldn't even be whining. I have very limited holiday responsibilities in the grand scheme of things.

On a good note...our tree is up and the decorations are now all done. Now just some cleaning up and that should be one thing to check off my list.

From Scratch Mom...You’re welcome.
Flying Baby B...you did say that...sorry. Where are they located in regards to WDW?
Lisa...I STILL haven't forgotten about Yorktown!
Happy Sunday!
Go Bears! Monday night football baby!

Fromscratchmom - Sounds like you are doing great w/packing. I usually start w/the clothes one week before I go and add other things during the week. Wow only 3 days left. Lucky duck.
Tink - I was thinking of doing laundry the last vacation at Caribbean Beach because we passed the laundromat by the pool and it didn't seem like that bad of a location. I thought I could sit by the pool or swim while doing the laundry. Of course, then I didn't want to go back for the laundry later. Lazy me.

Okay, so I'm the Queen Mother of all worry warts. I've posted on this thread a few times as it's always nice to know you are not alone.

I now have a new worry and I'm hoping those that can understand will help me out. a very short background: we have just slightly changed our plans for Disney. Originally, we planned on leaving very early on a Thursday morning, driving, in our motorhome for about 12 to 14 hours and stopping. We would stop, spend the night in motorhome and arrive in Disney pretty early the next morning (9:30ish). Now, for a variety of reasons, we think we might leave right after school on Wed., drive about 5 hours or so, stop, sleep, and drive to Orlando on Thurs, arriving early evening. So, I thought one night at the Nick hotel would be a great idea. Everyone out, active, burning off some pre-Disney jitters, etc. Sounds like a good plan, huh?

Then my worry bone started to ache. It was just a small twinge at first. But, it has turned into a full blown orthopedic emergency!

Here it is........

If we stay in a hotel, one of us WILL get sick!

I mean, haven't you seen the special on TV!?!? Heard all about how bad that can be? See, my control freak bone had been satisfied that, with oodles of hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, constant hand washing, staying in our own motorhome with our very own germs and eating out just a few meals, I could protect us from getting the travellers bug!

In all seriousness, I'm thinking about cancelling the Nick ressie because I just don't know if I can stand the worry it will cause! HELP!

Hi, all!

I was able to get caught up on some stuff (Phew! Is there a smiley for that? If not, there should be!) I apologize for not being here for a few days. All that's left is to dip the candy I made, box it and deliver, pack and pick presents to take along. I don't think I'll ever go at Xmas again..just way too much planning at once. Our original plan was to go in late Jan, but since there's no school we'd figure we'd go at Xmas. Plus we're going for 10 days in late June so it's a good spread between trips.

Sounds like some of you are getting things done too! Sometimes what happens with me is I get myself so worked up that I just say to myself "Screw it, I'll get it done when I can." and for some reason that helps me because then I get it done. Weird.

From scratchmama: 2 days..wow! Once you get on the road or plane you will feel more relaxed knowing you'll be in WDW soon! Have a wonderful trip!
You should have very pleasant weather!

Tinklvr: I hope your son gets better soon!

Debbie: Hi, hon! How are you? Hey! You got the tree up! That's one less thing you have to do! What gets done gets done and what doesn't, doesn't. Now, the hard part is following my own advice! Take care and stay warm!

Disneyohana, flying B. and everyone else.. .A big "Hello!"

I remember that hotel story! I try not to think about it that much. We drive as well and when picking a hotel I book ahead of time. I research whatever I can on the hotel and read reviews. I try not to book anything very close to I95 because soo many travelers. I also try to get newer hotels.

It's that season for viruses and sinus infections, bronchitis, stomach flu, etc. We do what we can, but we get it sooner or later. DOn't let it ruin your vacation. Have fun...I heard a really awesome quote on TV the other day and when I worry too much sometimes I say this out loud to myself just so I can hear myself say it:

"We can't change, what we can't predict."

Go and have a wonderful vacation! Tell us how you like the Nick Suites!

Pam

Musketeer Mom...
I am a total germ-a-phob so I know exactly what you are going through. I don't seem to worry about the hotels as much as I worry about the plane though. I don't know what to tell you to do because only you know if you will be able to control the anxiety that day but when you got there you could do a whole antibacterial spray down of the bathroom and furniture. I know it would be a pain but it might make you feel better. Plus, if you all keep the lotion on yourselves I thought it did help on killing the germs you actually touch too. What do you think? Have you thought about a Disney Value Hotel? Those are pretty cheap and I felt they were clean plus. Is there any rest stop you could sleep at in the area? I am not familiar with how that works.

PAM…..I know it is a crazy time to go but it will be so awesome when you are actually there. You sound like you have gotten a ton done and really your philosophy is right...Screw it! You know in the long run it will all get done. What day do you return? Try and say bye before the trip so we can wish you well!!!!! I'm gonna miss you.

"We can't change, what we can't predict."
....good one wish I could practice it!

From Scratch
How are you doing? Are you getting some sleep? Are the muscle aches getting better or worse? Hang in there! WOW.... you are leaving so.... soon! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
Tinklvr...Hope everyone gets healthy fast! :wizard:
I caught the tale end of the Travel channels Holidays In Disney show and now I am even more jealous of you guys!

Lisa…I do not have a Von Maur any closer to me then that one. I will be going there and I will definitely tell you! I am going to Woodfield tomorrow for 2 or 3 hours. You don’t like driving there though, right? If you’re interested let me know.

Momof4girls and Eeyore Mama are you lurking??? Still with us????
Snowwhite or Calebs Mom?????? :yay:

On another note...
I know this is a massive control freak issue of mine but I have to vent…. My DH is out Christmas shopping right now and it drives me insane!!! I do all the shopping in the family and never pass up a deal. I absolutely NEVER pay full price for anything unless there is no other option. Well, I know he is out their just haphazardly buying gifts. I feel like a big grinch because I should appreciate that he wants to shop for everyone but it bugs me to death that he just goes out there without a coupon in sight. For example…he just called me from ToysRUs to tell me he was getting these two things when I just told him that I had 5 separate coupons for there!!!! Am I too anal?
I made myself feel better by telling myself I would just collect all his receipts and return stuff after Christmas that he paid full price for. Is that bad of me????? Am I terrible???
I feel terrible.
Debbie

:rotfl2: Debbie..I'm not laughing at you..I'm laughing because I think I AM you! I get all the coupons in the mail..free $10, free $20 on a purchase of $20, free $50 if you use your Mastercard, etc. It feels great saving that money. Then DH comes along and just wants to get in there and out, but he wants to shop for us..he just knows what he's getting..goes in and right back out. Sometimes he doesn't really think about what he's doing though.

Quick story: (Sorry) We'd been dating for 13 months (way back in 1992-93) and I had a FT job in an office and a PT job at the mall in a mens store. He comes in with a watch on (never wore a watch back then) to say Hi and said he was doing shopping. I said why the watch? Well, the Dallas Cowboys were on in 1.5 hrs. Okayyyyy. So he left. 15 mins. later I went on break. There he was at the jewelry store 2 doors down and across the mall from my store and he was filling out out a long sheet. So I knew he was buying me an engagement ring. I never said anything. He gave me the ring Xmas Eve. I then told him I saw him buying it when I went on break.

So he didn't plan that very well. But he must have been looking before.....well I hope so..I'd hate to think he picked out a ring for me in that short amount of time!

And no you are not anal!!! I call it shopping savvy! ;) Why pay full price when you can get it cheaper?

Wow, we are all so alike, it is scary! Debbie and Pam, I am the same way about DH shopping. He likes to buy the kids one gift each, but he doesn't usually go overboard with those gifts. I hope that doesn't sounds unappreciative, but when he gets me gifts, I just think about how much he spent. He is a good gift giver, but he gets me things that I could have gotten myself much cheaper. He sent me flowers when I went back to work after my maternity leave, and my first thought was, "oh no, I wonder how much these cost."

I agree..it is so exciting to save money! Sometimes I thing my "saving" winds up costing me more, because I tend to overdo it at big sales, esp at Gymboree. My kids have way too many clothes, b/c I shop at the end of the season and then forget what I have. A quick sale story for you..I saw a beautiful silk dress for DD at Gymboree, but it was $42 and she didn't need it. I refuse to pay full price for clothes, esp there b/c there are always coupons and deals. I kept watching the dress and I finally got it last week for only $14.50 :woohoo: She wore it last night and she looked so sweet, but somehow I know I wouldn't have liked it as much if I paid full price!

Fromscratchmom..have fun in WDW! I know you will have a great time. I am excited for you and your girls!

Hi to Disneyohana, flying babyb, and Mousketeer Mom!

BTW Pam, I love your quote, "We can't change what we can't predict." I am going to repeat that over and over to myself!

Maureen

One more thing...does it really bother you when you are in line and the person in front of you has a coupon and you don't? It makes me feel like I failed as a bargain shopper and sometimes I even want to put the stuff back. Just had to get that out!

At that point I have actually left the line to search for the coupon!!! I am NOT kidding! I am CRAZY!
