Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Okay so one more. Do you have to go by boat back and forth from the YC/BC to the BW? It looks like a bit of a ways.

And I may have missed it but which area is closer to EPCOT - or does it really not matter? It looks like from what I'm reading that the BW is closer, and the YC/BC adds about 5 mintues?

You CAN take a boat across the lake to BW; but I wouldn't bother; it's maybe a 5 minute walk - very pretty. As for the walk to Epcot- I think the BW is slightly closer - 5 minutes longer for the BeachClub sounds about right. But really, it's not that far at all from either!

Listen, I think you hit the nail on the head that my strategy should be to make CARLOS happy so we can go back! So it has to be planned around him. I can do Char breakfasts for the kids, but the resort needs to be for the man of the house.

I agree! Sell him on a good resort to cater to him; the kids will be happy no matter where they are. BTW - The Beach Club has a character breakfast w/Goofy, Chip & Dale, Pluto, and I think Minnie; it's a beach-theme. Very cute!

I am flying from Pitts to Orlando with my 3 boys in 16 days. I got the ME, when my plane lands what to do next???? do I need to go somewhere? ask for directions? what about baggage? ahhhhhh!!!!! when I get to the All sports resort can I go to DTD, or do I need to wait for baggage delivery before leaving?

Hi there. I did my first trip in April with just me and my 4 yr old son. It was really easy. You get off the plane (I flew SW) and just ask when you get off where to go. In your ME booklet they send you they give you a map of the airport as well as where you will go. It is a bit of a hike, (all this said, I let ME handle my baggage, just put their tag on there and you won't see it again until it is in your room - so you probably want to pack a carry-on overnight bag). Go to the line where you check in, then they direct you to the ME bus line for your resort. Hand the driver your carry-on and they will store it under the bus - and off you go to the All Star Resorts. Sports is the first stop. Go in to Registration, check in - and go to the park, DTD, whatever. Your luggage will appear magically in you room! No problem. I LOVED AS mo by the way, and I think you will like AS sports. My neighbor stayed there and her son loved it! I do recommend upgrading to the Preferred room though, we did this and we literally had to walk no more than 2 minutes from everything!

Good luck!

Good to know!!!

Is it overkill to put togther a Disney Pitch Book for him and then do a "presentation"? :confused3 As corny as it sound, I may do it. No clicking, all there, with dividers, resorts, pros/cons.... where the drinks are located! :lmao: I told him about your drink card for the World - and that you were working on a beer one I thought. Did you ever get on? He SO wants that!:lmao:

Renee- You hit 1,000 posts.

By the way - You don't seem to love YC/BC why not choose somewhere else? Maybe the CR or a moderate like POFQ? DH Loves POFQ cause he can fish and the boat to DTD and how small it is he is not walking 15 miles when something gets left in the car. He Finds the Decor his favorite and he really feels like he can relax. I DO understand the Deluxe thing, but at the same time It doesn't always work foe everyone.

First off, welcome back Debbie! And no, I do NOT entertain Ally all the time. She does watch a lot of TV, probably too much, and if you look at her room, you can tell that she spends a lot of time playing in there - it's always a mess! As for the mouth, yeah, that's just the age, beginning to gain a little independence.

Jillian - glad your cousin is doing better. Fingers crossed!

Renee - As much as we love the BWI, I would seriously consider BC for little kids. I just think the theming is better for kids, a little more playful, they do have a character meal right there, plus the campfire singalong, and you're right across from all the BW activiites. When we stayed at BWI we paid for a standard view room, we had heard that rooms overlooking the BW were noisy. We overlooked a pretty garden area, but sitting on our balcony at night, we could see the Eiffel tower, Spaceship Earth and part of Illuminations. It was absolutely beautiful!

We're doing YC in September, so if you haven't booked by then, I can give you more feedback. I think YC and BC are the same, since they share the pool and everything, but YC seems to be more formal, from what I have read. Think of Epcot WS on the right of the map. Walk or boat over to the BW area at the bottom of the map. At the top of the map is BC/YC, with a lake in between. Then head to the left of the map and see Dolphin/Swan. Then wind down the left side of the map and the waterway takes you to HS. You can walk to HS from the Boardwalk side of the lake. To get to BW from YC/BC, you walk over a pretty bridge right where the "lake" turns into a waterway that goes to Epcot WS. It would take about 5-7 min probably to stroll over to the BW area, and about the same to stroll into Epcot. Keep in mind, if you're not heading to MK first thing in the morning, you could realistically head into Epcot through the IG and then head out the front and hop the monorail to MK.

If it were me, and I were in your shoes, I would book BC. I think you'd love the amenities since it's a deluxe resort, Carlos would like the BW area (as would the whole family, but for all different reasons), and if you are going to be doing the DDP you will probably have several meals in Epcot anyway, so you could hop from any park over to Epcot, dine in WS and then you're right by your resort at the end of the day.

Now with all that being said, remember that Epcot is my favorite park. So I'm very biased. But I also just love the entire theme of the BW/BC/YC and the whole area. It's just flat out fun.

Ditto!:thumbsup2

BTW Renee - I love the idea of doing a presentation! I would show him the Poly, BC, and BWI (and then also look into renting DVC point from someone for either BCV or BWV) and let him pick! I think you'd be happy at any of the three, for different reasons, so if you let him choose, he'll "think" that he has made the decision. But we all know the truth!

hi there. just stopping by for a quick second. Girls are spending the night at my parents place. Date night! I am ready to kill him though. we had a b-day party for a good friend. I'm exhusted. He wants to rent a canoe and go swimming. hello it is 5 pm. it is going to be chilly! I need to come up with a quick alternative for him. I'm in a mood and he's not helping any. I want dinner and a video he wants to be the outdoors man. Aghhh thanks for letting me vent.

Renee- good luck with your decision. I love the idea of the non-computer presentation. It will make it easier for him to weigh out the options.

Debbie- I so know where you are coming from with Elizabeth. Beth wants attention 24x7. I don't give it to her. I so help her get set up to play but I'm not down there. I just feel I have too much to do. The thing someone told me is that our moms didn't entertain us every minute. It's a hard thing to let go. We want them to be happy and not fuss about being bord. The punishment is the same. The laughing pushes you over the edge. I have contemplated using guilt but figured the counseling bills would be too high in the future and no to spanking because I don't want child welfare at my door and taking stuff away makes no dent. I wish she had a fear of her dad like I did of mine. That always seemed to make me straighten up. Good luck. On my agenda is to do some research on alternative punishments. If I remember to do it I will let you know what I find out.

Totally didn't notice I was going over 1000! How sad - what, I joined in March? I have no life evidentally! We are actually looking for a no car solution. We will have one for off property, but if we end up like Laura (wasn't it Laura?) and get stuck for 2 hours leaving Carlos would NEVER go to Disney again. EVER EVER NEVER! So, I'm looking for monorail or boat/monorail. That way he can drink if he wants and not worry about driving, and just enjoy himself. I would love to do CBR sometime, but this trip it isn't ideal. Plus we rarely take expensive vacations, but when we do, he always complains and the loves the vacation, so I'm hoping to "sell" him on Disney. Then I will move on the to the DVC plot. BOOO HAAAA HAAAA (evil laugh!)....:lmao:

Good advice - I agree totally. I think if BC isn't too out of the way, that suits our style more. YC seemed a tad stuffy for Carlos - Mr. No Shave with a pathetic excuse for a soul patch... :lmao: Seriously though, he would enjoy BC more, as I think we all would. He gets really antsy about the kids making messes/disturbing others, and it would be more at the YC (from the pics I've seen) than the BC or Poly.
We're doing YC in September, so if you haven't booked by then, I can give you more feedback.
I think I'm going to try to book August, unless "Carlos" decides to wait until October, but I think May will work well for us. Unless it is as blasted hot as it was here today. It was miserable at 89 degrees - lots of humitiy and felt like 92!

That is what I thought too. We could do like you & Cammie said and wrap the day up here and then exit to the back and just stroll in - enjoy the BW, whatever. Very low stress ending to a day.

Now with all that being said, remember that Epcot is my favorite park. So I'm very biased. But I also just love the entire theme of the BW/BC/YC and the whole area. It's just flat out fun.The ONLY thing that makes me worry that we shouldn't change to Oct is that stupid Allergy Fest (I mean flower fest) they have. EHHH! Is it all over the park or at least contained to one area we could avoid!

BTW Renee - I love the idea of doing a presentation! I would show him the Poly, BC, and BWI (and then also look into renting DVC point from someone for either BCV or BWV) and let him pick! Funny, I almost said I was challenging our resident board nerd (eh hum... Laura) in doing that! :rotfl: I figured you would like the idea! I think we can't go wrong with any Disney property. Seriously, I can be a major PITA about hotels and my pickiness, and I totally loved ASmo - and it is Disney's bottom line, so I'm sure anything would be excellent. Wilderness stuff is so not my theme, but I even thought I would enjoy the WL. Disney does a good job in that area!

Renee- good luck with your decision. I love the idea of the non-computer presentation. It will make it easier for him to weigh out the options.SEE KARA! :lmao: Seriously though, so where are you shaking out on your anniversary plans?

I wish she had a fear of her dad like I did of mine. That always seemed to make me straighten up.Carlos so has that going. It makes me so mad though, I can fuss 5 times - nothing but laughter and giggles, he can peak at them and down go the heads and they shish instantly - neither of us spank them, so it is totally a tonal thing. My voice is very soft and low though, and I think that plays into it.

Cammie - so are you doing a theme or a themed cake for little miss panda bear?

I'm non-drunk bidding on ebay tonight. Woo Hoo. Plus I got my new Disney Princess Cartridge in the mail today to play with. I think I am doing Mia's room in Princesses instead of butterflies. SIGH. Princesses to her are "WOW" and butterflies get no response. Presently it is lambs - she could care less. I got her a toddler bedding set - I think I can fix it up pretty neat with it, but I have to work around the Chocolate Curtains in her room - it gets very bright/hot in there even with blinds, so the curtains have to stay put. I love a challenge.

Great - I go into ebay and find I screwed up - I thought I raised my bid on one item - ah, nope, I BID on two of the same thing and won them both. (okay, so if it weren't me, I'd be laughing)

Anyone looking for a $31 Dreams Come True Disney Cricut Cartridge, Let me know. ha ha! I'll be putting one on ebay soon...

And if you have plans of telling and spouses/friends about this, DIS is malfunctioning... It is Kara posting, not Renee - ha ha!

Renee - I need to seriously look into all this cartridge business you've been talking about.

Seriously, I think the Beach Club would be a good fit for all of you. But if you can only get into the Yacht Club, I would jump on it. It's really all the same resort - it's connected. So while, I agree, the Yacht Club may be the more "proper" side, I don't think it's unusual to find alot of families there also.

As for Amanda's party next weekend: I've been informed by my youngest that I need to remember that Amanda is now 14 and I SHOULD NOT have any childish party themes - just colorful; no characters! Brat! No, seriously though - she truly is Amanda's voice; will not let me treat her like the baby that I so desperately want to hold on to! God bless them both!

Renee - I need to seriously look into all this cartridge business you've been talking about. Not into buying one, cause you have a buddy who can get ya what you need. ;) Just in terms of what you can have printed out for you. Have you seen Jolee's at scrapbook areas - kinda maybe 2x4 stickers that are layers of cardstock? They do a lot of Disney ones for around $5 each, well, I just figure if I buy 6, then I've spent what a cartridge to do however many I want would be cheaper. Plus, without pushing Mia since 4 months has always been a princess girl. I had to learn all about them because of her! She LOVES Snow.

Seriously, I think the Beach Club would be a good fit for all of you. But if you can only get into the Yacht Club, I would jump on it. It's really all the same resort - it's connected. So while, I agree, the Yacht Club may be the more "proper" side, I don't think it's unusual to find alot of families there also.I think you are right. BC seems more of a fit. But We'd be okay at YC. BWI - that them just really is too much for me.

Okay, little Miss Lauren. (Where did you get that finger wagging smiley you used on Kara? ha ha) Can't you use the "you both will always be my baby?". Carlos just had a Power Ranger cake for birthday... 29! :rotfl2: Non themed stuff is so not fun. Tell her I'm begging for a theme, and you will stop at 16???? Ha. So seriously - just bright colors - that is it? No flowers, no nothing?

Wellllll......Amanda does love Tinkerbell; I'm thinking I could "teen" her up a bit!

But I really hate that my girls are older now - so sad!:sad1:

I LOVE Tink. Betcha never would have guessed. Seriously, I bet 15 of my shirts have her on it (okay, maybe 7) but still, I love her spunkiness.

But how would you teen her up?
:confused3

Yeah, I'm getting a little sentimental. Amanda's surgery is in 10 days and I always start feeling mushy at times like this. I just like showing off my girls! Sigh!

Ah, man, I hadn't realized it was so soon. Wasn't that going to be a 10 day stay or so? Are you going to have some help while she is in the hosp, cause I know you are going to be with her alot.

And you should like showing off those precious girls of your!

Believe it or not, Tink is considered somewhat cool w/the teen set. She just looks a little more modern on t-shirts; the party supplies have some funky colors - fuschia, purple. We'll see.

Well, I'll be staying at the hospital for about the first 30-32 hours or so - sleeping over the first night. I have Lauren taken care of for the first two days - staying with friends. And alot of other friends are prepared to take over if needed. Usually in these circumstances, I try to spend most of the day at the hospital then the ex comes in at night and sleeps there. I'm spending the first night post-op though because I just feel I really, really have to!

He and I kind of battle during these situations. I'm there most days for about 12-14 hours during the day; I feel like I'm in charge of her care at home and I need to be there during the day to confer with the docs or any issues that come up. I expect the ex to just get in by 9 or 10 and sleep over until I get back in the morning. Sometimes, he complains he's too tired and has his wife sleep there instead - which bugs the crap out of me! Fine, it's nice Amanda has a familiar voice there, but this woman has no authority or say in anything that is done. Yet, he'll complain that the nurses don't listen to the wife when she suggests things. Well, no duh! She's not a parent - that's why I just wish he'd suck it up and be there when I'm not. Ugh - it's always stressful!

Anyway, it's too late to be thinking about this now. I'll check in with you tomorrow. Have a good night!

Well Girls! Didn’t you guys get all serious while I was gone….Exes, childhood with divorce and dieting….
I have been catching up ALL night! Wow! You guys are chatty! Doesn’t the world stop when I don’t dis?
Renee you are planning a trip without me! How could you! I guess you know I am going to vote POLY but I feel as though I am too late and you let others have more influence while I was gone!
Do I have to play this game again??????

Magicfor2 (Tammie) Isn’t it funny how we are all in different stages of “motherhood”. I feel for you! It probably is very hard to not want to control everything going on in your boy’s lives. Probably doesn’t help to have them marry and have kids so young either. I can’t imagine that but I was 34 when I got married.
tttessa (tessa)] Your “shrinky dinks” sound great as luggage tags! Your advice is good too especially with its British flare!
Congrats on the girls report cards!!!! Yeah!
Camster0307(Cammie) Sorry you have been struggling with all the EX emotions. I think you are doing great and I think I would feel the same way as you. As a control freak it has to be a nightmare to have SO much out of your control. Like everyone has said though you are so WONDERFUL! I think you are making tons of positive choices and doing so well.
Love your siggie pic!
Happy late birthday to Amanda!!! Loved the pix!
I feel for ya with that surgery coming up! How stressful! I will say lots of prayers!
soontobewed07 (Jillian) I am glad your cousin is doing better and I hope she continues to do better so that little one can get stronger each day. Do they know why it happened or no reason?
Sorry about the expense woes and I would like a bed like that as well but I don’t think they would be able to get it up our stairwell to my bedroom> Bummer for us!
karajebo0 (Kara) Entertaining as always!!! I felt so bad for you that your friend was such a pain. I think it’s time for this friend to fade in the wind. I always have had this philosophy that “I don’t have time to be with friends I like to be with so out with the difficult ones”….Sometimes it works…I don’t know if this is the case with you but she just seems so completely different than you!
Sorry you felt so sick while I was away. I think you just missed me and were sick from the pain of missing my posts and similes!
Your SIL is a major PITA! I don’t know how you can stand dealing with her at all! She is truly a piece of work!
KaraSIL-1.jpg

Did Ally get the foam finger?
My DH annoys me in bed too! He is always snoring and seems to have heat that comes from him. I hate being hot in bed! OK all that sounds dirty but you KWIM!
I liked your Dis designs. Saved the CFWW one!
UsNew2Disney2008(Renee) You have been a busy poster as well. Good postcard idea! I must do something. You are completely right when you say that the memories fade…so true! Motherhood fries our brains!
Sorry you are having dieting trouble. I know EXACTLY how you feel. Like I have said before I have struggled with my weight my whole life! I am finally at a good place for me weight wise and STILL have internal battles about it. Because I had to work so hard to lose around 40 pounds after the kids I just do NOT want to have to do it again so I weigh myself constantly and when I see it creeping up I immediately do a crisis diet for a couple days to get back on track. I hate worrying about weight EVERY day of my life but I don’t see it changing. Right now I am panicking because I ate so badly for a week. I always dream about how awesome it would be to wake up just one day and not worry or feel guilty about food. Listen, I LOVE carry out and fast food so much that I really have to just give it up cold turkey. If I let myself I could eat there for all meals, every day. When I was heavier I was really addicted to fast food. I remember leaving my job and getting a soft serve at McDonalds and finishing it in time to get another soft serve at a different McDonalds! I also remember going there after work (we are talking 10 at night) and telling them I wanted freshly cooked nuggets….the 20 piece order! I would sit there then and wait for them (with fries of course). I could go on and give you Taco Bell stories, Gyro stories….the list can go on! I love my junk! In all honestly I don’t know what has changed my mind set except that I never want to have to lose a chunk of weight like that again. I have done it a few times and I am sick of the suffering so yes I relate and feel your pain. Also, remember I am a coffee and diet coke addict…sad but true I am sure it helps me not eat (better than smoking though, right?) I just can't give up the caffiene at this time of my life (old Mom with little kids).
CrdisMom(Laura) We do have a lot in common don’t we! I hope things get better with the kids and not worse. I just love them both to death and just really want them to turn out well-rounded, well-behaved kids that people want to be around.
I am so glad Beth is doing better and all that has passed!
Pbharris (Pam ) Thanks for telling us about your trip. Don’t be a stranger now!
DizzyErin(Erin) You have disappeared longer than me!
Ahibird (keahi) You too!

Thanks for the thoughts on my child rearing and for sharing your stories.

Big Brother starts tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! I love Big Brother!!!!!!!!!

I better go....Aren't you guys sorry I'm back!!!!
