Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Okay Ladies, it is almost time for the 2009 pricing to come out :woohoo: which means I can officially book our trip.

I'm going to take the opportunity to ask this while Debbie is gone, since WE ALL know where she stands on it. :lmao:

We want to stay on monorail I think. If not it will be the BW, but that said, I'm already sold on it, but it will be Carlos' call, so ...

Which monorail resort would you look at - Contemp, Poly or GF if you had 2 kiddos? Wasn't it the GF who shares a bus with the WL and the bus would be full by then?

Hey~ for that matter, Cammie - how often do the boats run? I was thinking every 30 minutes, but we waited only about 5 that night we went to dinner. Think that would be as "quick" as a monorial resort?

I have to approach captain crabby a$$ to get him to commit to a resort. I know his top priority is to minimize walking, and provide ability to drink. :rotfl2: Just being honest here. Also second would be to have a nice pool for Nicolas to enjoy while Mia naps each day.

Well, my SIL, after bragging about all this stuff their doing to their yard, trying to one up everything Jeff was talking about last night, just emailed me to tell me their having a Wii party - yes, they bought a Wii. So being the smart a$$ I am, I replied with, "yeah, Jeff wants one too but I told him we have too many other obligations right now.... btw, did you ever mail my check..."
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I bet I know what kind of look she had on her face! :rotfl:

Renee, I just told Jeff how y'all call me Martha and he about fell out of his chair laughing!!!! If you only knew.... And then I told him about your bonus room pic with Carlos bidding on clubs on ebay. He just nodded his head. He said the clubs by the desk and the BL on the desk were a dead giveaway! :rotfl:
I actually think he was listing. My goodness - his 6th set in 1 year. He has always excelled in sports. He is just so-so at golf and I think he blames it on his clubs. It is hysterical. At least he sells them. He had a set ending today that is up to $600 already - I just don't want to know what he paid for them. Oh - and there was one time where he left the course and LEFT his clubs & bag. Of course when he went back, guess what was gone? :confused3 . And you can tell it wasn't taken that long ago because finally this year I convinced him we could give up the Natty!:rotfl2:

Listen, tell Jeff, your Disney room is SOOOO Martha!

And there was the time he was "drunk bidding" on ebay. He ended up with a SENIOR Shaft driver! :rotfl2: I told him he HAS to stop the drunk bidding - it is NOT the same as drunk posting! ;)

Which monorail resort would you look at - Contemp, Poly or GF if you had 2 kiddos? Wasn't it the GF who shares a bus with the WL and the bus would be full by then?

If I were trying to stay on the monorail, I would look at Poly.

And you can tell it wasn't taken that long ago because finally this year I convinced him we could give up the Natty!:rotfl2:

Hey, what's wrong with the Natty!!!! :rotfl2:

Too funny!!!!! :rotfl2:

Well, SIL emailed me back and said she mailed the check "a while ago." Mmm hmmm. So I told her I didn't get it. She said, "I'll have BIL check on it." What? She can't log into her bank account or open a checkbook? Then she emails me back and says, "how much was it? there have been soooo many checks going out lately." Boo hoo! :headache: I told her $35 and she comes back with, "I thought it was less because you owed me for a picture." Oh, yeah, she can't remember to pay me, but she can sure remember what I owed her!!!! Why do I let her drive me nuts like this?

Renee - Are you asking about the boat from WL? They were fine - don't think we ever waited any more than 10 minutes. There are two types - a smaller, open-air one; and a bigger enclosed boat. It's about a 10 minute direct ride to MK. I think it would be just as quick as the monorail. Just remember though - if there's bad weather in the area, they'll stop running the boats; you'll have to take the bus instead.

As for transportation to the other parks from a monrail resort - I think it may be a pain. Yes, our bus from WL to DHS, AK, or DTD always went over to the GF after picking us up. As you can imagine the buses to the parks in the a.m. were pretty crowded; by the time we got to GF, it was standing room only. And those GF bus stops were pretty crowded; we couldn't fit many GF guests on. I believe the Poly shares a bus w/ the Contemp.; not sure how bad they are.

One thing I found out about the Poly from a friend who's family stays there: you can walk to the TTC. Now, that would be a big "plus" for me to stay there. People say you can take the monorail from a monorail resort to Epcot. What they don't tell you is that you have to stop at TTC; transfer out; go down a pretty steep ramp; walk over to the other side and walk UP another steep ramp and wait w/the crowds for the Epcot monorail. And of course, if you see a monorail waiting, you're all going to run. It was no fun for me pushing a wheelchair walking, let alone running, up and down ramps. I'm sure it wouldn't be fun pushing a stroller. I may be being picky, but we couldn't stand that transfer. At least at the Poly, you can just walk over and go right up to the Epcot platform.

So I think the Poly would be less of a pain to get to MK and Epcot than the other two monorail resorts. The BW area would be easy to get to Epcot and DHS; but you'd have to deal w/buses to MK and AK (which I don't think are that bad) Just my $.02!

That is right, I have read that before but forgot since we never went to the TTC on our trip. I forget, but I think I came across a website that told which LODGE to ask for in order to be closer to that than the Poly stop. HUMMMM...

Thanks for the heads up about the boats. Uh - that is a no.

I'm honestly not this pick, my DH is a real vacation pain, and if this isn't "optimal" he won't go back. I THINK we will rent a car anyway - since we will be visiting his DGM and maybe Uncle.

Nicolas is so into Lilo and Stitch - like CRAZY into them. I'm thinking that we should stay at the POLY for him. But man - I'm so tempted by BW it isn't even funny! But at the POLY - we'd be near the TTC. Bulk of our time will be at MK & EPCOT I think. Maybe one day at DHS, but I think that will be it. AK - ehh--- that might get skipped this trip. I wasn't all that impressed. I want to to Toy Story Mania and let him do Char greets at DHS , plus Carlos would probably like the little Star Wars Training, (uh, I meant Nicolas  ). Outside that, I'm mostly interested in MK and EPCOT. That is why really I'm opting May over Oct. I figure EPCOT will be less slammed then than with the food & wine fest in OCT. I hope I'm right about that?7

Mia hit the computer and poof - it sent early.

I was going to add that your SIL is a piece of work Kara! Geeez, you know what you should have fired back? Well - I'm sure if you HAD sent the check you would have deducted that. SERIOUSLY! I can't believe her - FREELOADER. Hey, maybe we should refer to her as FBSIL - depending on how we feel that day, I'm certain we could use other descriptive terms for that little short form! :rotfl:

Okay one more post and I'm out of here! That day with the BL, I told Carlos to put a reserve on his clubs or at least start them out at what he wanted to get out of them and let the rest be gravy. NO - doesn't think it is necessary. He wants $400 and they should get that easy.

SO... a newbee comes along, bids first bid as $200. He's not stressing because lots of people are "watching" them. Guess what, I was just looking and there is a happy little dude who just bought himself a set of nice clubs for $200.

I told DH to stop by and get a case on the way home and didn't tell him why. This is one of those moments he'll never live down! :lmao:

At some point in his life he will learn to listen to me! ;)

Renee - Don't get scared away from the WL by the boat issue. We were there during a pretty stormy week and didn't have a problem w/ the WL boats; we got stuck on the DHS to BW boat. Usually we walk, but it was pouring out, so we decided to go to the boat. Well, there was lightning in the area and they got the order to stay put. We waited about 20 minutes; could have walked up to buses but didn't feel like it. You can't predict the weather so I wouldn't let that possibility deter you from staying there.

You see, you're telling me you'll skip AK, and go mostly to MK and Epcot w/ maybe DHS, and I just want to say DO THE BW! There's alot of fun nighttime activity on the BW; if you came back from a park and wanted to take Mia up to bed early, one of you could stay w/Nicholas on the BW - there's arcade games, magicians, jugglers, music. There's the Sweet Shoppe for taffy and candy; and Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club for great ice cream. Yes, you'll have a longer commute to MK; but an easy one to Epcot and DHS. Seriously, if you're looking to please Carlos, I think he'd like the BW better and you'd certainly find enough for the kids to enjoy there also.

But then I don't want you to make a choice based on what I'm saying and then find out you regretted your decision! I think you should choose between the Poly and BW area. Oh, and btw, in May, Epcot has the Flower Show going on; it's so pretty!

No, they'll never learn to listen.... :sad2:

Hey, I agree with Cammie about the BW area, which is why we are staying at YC in September. Why not look into Beach Club? They have the best pool on property, a campfire singalong at night, plus it's right on the BW. Jeff and I always said that would be our pick for a deluxe for the whole family. And of course we love Epcot! Yes, Flower & Garden Festival makes Epcot so much prettier!

Just went to 5 Guys Burgers & Fries. Just opened on Monday here. Not bad, but it was $22 for our family of 3 to have, well, burgers and fries! Crazy!

There's a humdinger of a storm moving just to the east of us. I can hear it and see it, but luckily we're not getting it. Looks like some storms are building up though so we might have a stormy night!

Oh, please! I'd never feel like you lead me wrong! I'm asking because I have no clue. I want to like POLY, and I do think Nicolas would love breakfast with Lilo & Stitch - and Carlos would like "Meat" :lmao: , but we can go to them regardless of where we stay. I'm beginning to think you & Kara might be right about carlos enjoying that more. Nothing says happy guy quite like ESPN lounge! Ha - seriously, he wouldn't do that, but he might enjoy some beverages while Nicolas enjoyed to BW. I can tell you I honestly don't care to go to AK. I really don't. I'd much rather go to the Columbus Zoo and spend my "Disney" time at other parks.

Nope, sure isn't - that Renee is a bad seed! :rotfl2:
Listen, Renee took Kara's challenge and added up what she is spending, so RENEE is on the wagon big time! You have no idea how on the wagon I am! That was one sickening little experiment.

Speaking of expriments... Nicolas broke his Stitch - one of his arms. Can you order from the hotel gift shops and have them shipped?

Calm down! I promise to pick up anything Stitch you need when I go in September! I'll even take pictures and email them to you and you can tell me what to get!

Cammie - can you get "to go" drinks at ESPN and walk around the BW with them? Renee, think this would convince him? ;) Heck, it convinces me! :rotfl:

I just called up to Ally, who is supposed to be cleaning her room, and got no response. So I go up to check on her, all the lights are out, and she's sound asleep in bed. :cloud9: Summer camp wears her out! I said I wish I had summers like her when I was growing up. Swimming 2-3 times a day, playing in the gym, tennis, golf, field trips. Oh, she was on the Jacksonville website with the whole group of kids at the Jacksonville suns game! My little starlet!

Speaking of expriments... Nicolas broke his Stitch - one of his arms. Can you order from the hotel gift shops and have them shipped?

You can call WDW Mail Order - 407-363-6200. It's the main shopping line for all WDW merchandise. If you explain what the product is and where you bought it, they can send you a new one. Seriously, these guys are awesome! One year, one piece of our luggage was "lost" (I say stolen); it had alot of our souvenirs in it; I called that number and the woman was incredible! I was able to replace alot of the items that had been lost by me just describing them.

Re: where to stay. This is my thinking. You'll be in WDW; the kids will be happy no matter where they lay their heads down to sleep. You need to make sure Carlos is happy so he agrees to go back year after year! Methinks Mr. Renee would be happier at the BW resorts!:rotfl:

Cammie - can you get "to go" drinks at ESPN and walk around the BW with them? Renee, think this would convince him? ;) Heck, it convinces me! :rotfl:

Why certainly! We often grab a cocktail to enjoy on our way over to IG!

And honey - let me tell you! Not only can you get drinks to go; if there's a big sporting event going on, they'll set up a bar OUTSIDE and broadcast the action out to the BW. We've been there plenty of times during the baseball playoffs or football season - there'd be big crowds of people hanging outside watching the tvs through the window. Fun times!

Hey, Laura! I hope Beth gets to feeling better soon! Poor baby! I know west nile is always a concern, but just remember that it's very rare....

Guess what I just did? Yup! I cleaned the kitchen!!!! I'm so pathetic! I just can't stand it when it gets so gross! I mean there were pots piled in the sink, the stuff that came out of the dishwasher had caked on food, the stove and counter top were disgusting! I had to clean it so I could start dinner.

Ally requested spaghetti with meatballs. Well, I got rid of two partial boxes of pasta, one jar of spaghetti sauce, and we had meatballs in the freezer AND a partial bag of frozen garlic bread! Voila! Nothing to buy (Renee! :lmao: ), and I got rid of stuff in the pantry.

I need to pretend to still be sick too, so Jeff will sleep upstairs again. I swear, it sounds horrible but I hate to sleep with someone! When I sleep, I like my space. I don't want to snuggle, I don't want to hear someone breathing on my neck. I want to sleep. I joke and say that I could have lived back in the olden days when they had separate bedrooms and a wink and an invitation would bring the two together for awhile. That's me. Stay on your own side! In fact, we're looking to buy a new bed - king size! Plus, Jeff snores really bad and once I hear it, I can't get it out of my head. I sleep with ear plugs and sometimes also a pillow over my head! I know, I'm terrible!

And I conned Jeff into stopping off at Walgreens to pick up a birthday card for my 90 year old uncle. That saves me from having to go out tonight! :cool1: But so help me, I'm still gonna lay down the law about cleaning up. And I will NOT clean up after dinner tonight. Seriously. I won't.

I was just thinking twin beds, and then you said King :lmao: I actually feel the same way, and as Jim as gotten a little older and a little larger, I just couldn't do the Q anymore. We've had our King for a year and a half and I love it! We got a dark Italian design - I was going for Tuscan. I still didn't get the dresser to go with it - just the bed and night stands.

Can you believe that he got mad at ME for complaining about the mess he left last night??? So I went out to the garage and started cleaning up out there. All the fireworks garbage was still laying out there from a week ago. And so many cartons from beer and soda - he just piles them up instead of breaking them down so the garbage men can take them. I swear, he's the laziest!!!! So then he felt bad that I was cleaning up out there, too. What a jerk! I totally blame his mother for this - she did EVERYTHING for him when he was growing up. So now he is so irresponsible!

But on the plus side, I think I found us a way to save about $300/mo on health insurance. Jeff has Ally on his policy at work and pays about $400/mo for the two of them, but to add me it's an additional $600/mo! Outrageous! So I'm still covered under my old company's plan through cobra, but that's $400/mo for just me. So I got online and found a full plan, little higher deductible, but all other coverages are the same, office visit copays, drug plan, etc. And it's less than $500! I'm so pumped! So now I'm upping our life insurance with a 10 yr term policy. I don't worry so much about way down the road when we're old, but if anything would happen to one of us while Ally is young, we'd be screwed because we are definitely a two income household. And heaven knows Jeff would need a full time nanny/housekeeper if anything happened to me! So I just feel so much more secure now.

Jeff is out cutting the grass now. The storms are rolling in now so I hope he gets done in time. But then he won't trim or edge. Again, he'll do it half a$$ed! I used to do a lot of work in the yard, including cutting the grass, trimming, etc, but down here I'm chicken. Too many critters out there! And I can't operate the new trimmer he got - it's gas and I can't get it started! so I have to rely on him to do it. I'm about ready to call a lawn service (but not until I get a housekeeper!) so I know our yard will look good. Can you tell I'm on a tirade!!!!!

Speaking of critters, saw another skink on the front porch today. Lovely.

I think you need to get Jeff some more life insurance!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just found this one, too.

The accessories have a wood top to them. Kinda neat. I hear what you're saying about the big poster bed. I tend to agree with you. Jeff's feminine side must be coming out because he wants me to get the white sheers and drape around it. Every time he comes up with something like that I tell him he's been watching too much Bravo and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy! :rotfl2:

I'm really beginning to like the idea of black furniture up against the white beadboard. I think it will be really sharp! I think I'm gonna drag Jeff out furniture shopping this weekend!

Kara! This one gets my vote! I liked the third one in your first choices. I think the first one was too ornate. When you are doing beach cottage you want to go simple. I was also thinking natural wood, but that black might look really cool! Do you remember the Ethan Allen commercial in the jungle? It was kind of an old English look with Dark wood, not black. I think that decor was more yellow walls and more tropical colors than Nantucket.

I did the beach look in my office before the kids took it over - I hadn't changed from the black futon to the white day bed that I wanted in there, but it really didn't look too bad. I did beige walls with white trim, the carpet is blue-grey, and I did navy, gray-blue, beige and white striped valences with matching pillows and a blue-gray futon cover. I put in a woven grass mat, and Lindsay painted a beautiful mural on one whole wall - beach scene with the white adironack chairs and palm trees with tropical flowers. We found a border with the chairs that matched her mural after it was done! I still have the mural up, so she did the kids beds in matching Hawaiin print - looks really cute!

Laura, I'm glad Beth is doing better. I was thinking it was Renee that was looking for an anniversary trip, but it was you? Maybe it was both, I'm confused! :goodvibes

Renee, I picked BWV for our "just us" trip in March, because Jim has been putting up with all the things I wanted to do and with vacationing with my DSIS last year, so I just wanted him to have a fun place to be - he suggested BWV. I think it will be good for him for ESPN, and the walk to Epcot, Beaches n Cream, and DHS.

Hey, I just realized it's Friday, and I am drinking a glass of wine - anyone there??? :dance3: We are headed to the movies in about a half hour.

Hi Girls hope everyone has been doing well.

My cousin is home the contractions have stopped and she has not dialated any more!!!:thumbsup2 She did decide to stay at her moms because she has a few more "Handy Helpers"

As for the last 2 days.

The A/C broke down
Mike washed his cell phone
My car got hit and the person took off

So all and all it has been a very expensive 2 weeks!

Kara- Love the last bedroom set you chose. I love the idea of a beach theme. We too have picked a new color for our bedroom it is a mango color we have a very small bedroom it is now taupe

We will be changing our set soon too. I need something with storage under it.
Something like this

I will respond more tomorrow I am tired and heading to bed. Night!!!

Hiya all,
managed to get on line for 20 min...... loving all the beds.... we had one with the ball shapes on the end last time - I ended up with big round bruises on my upper arms from bumping into them too often!! So we bought a storage bed with just a metal bedhead - I can wear short sleeves again ....bliss..

Well, we had report cards from school - so I have to brag - I have 2 clever little girls!! "Never gives less than 100% effort" "A pleasure to teach" etc etc etc... top marks all round for BOTH of them :cloud9:- now we have to think of a big "treat" for them to try and encourage more of the same next year.... any ideas?? School's out from next Thursday..... can't wait to get out of the routine....

Tessa
