Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Happy Monday! Ha! Tina - I didn't want to get up and going this AM, either! Meg started her 2 a day band practices, 6:45am-1pm, then 7-9pm for three weeks. I woke her at 5:30am, a little earlier than I've been getting up this summer. It's funny how much time I have on my hands when I am not making sure the kids have what they need to get out the door, and I forgot how much time I need to allow for it. (No control freak here...:rolleyes1) I keep getting told that I do too much for them at 16 and 12, like make breakfast, pack lunches and water jugs...I just know that I will miss it when they are gone (Cammie, I only have 3 more years!), and I am enjoying it while I have them (as long as they are grateful and not sassy!;)).

Kara - I have decided to do the Photo Pass by myself and pre-order it. I didn't think that you had that option any longer, so I was kind of cringing at what I thought was a price increase from last time. I am determined that this time I am going to make better use of those pics for Christmas gifts for the parents. They are so hard to buy for, and I can really do some cute things w/them. My girls and I have also decided to make an album of our 5 family trips to WDW (including this one), w/room to grow. I need to find the biggest album w/expansion. I also need to set a goal for completion, or I won't get it done, as many of my large personal projects don't...:rolleyes1 I have good intent. I may just do one of those digital photo books, and have an expanded folder that keeps it and all of the other things, like park tickets, fast passes, etc. in it. Now, just to find the stuff...:rolleyes1

Tina - The Minnie shirt is adorable! I love it! I would go w/the black bottoms, esp at WDW! Could you imagine a kid in white pants?! OMG! My 12 yr old would have them filthy in 5 mins! Heck, I would! The white ones would be precious for a picture.

Cammie - Thanks for the JB pics! I love your "no comment"! You didn't have to! We all know what you were thinking, and I'm right there w/you!

Tessa - I am lucky enough to have both my mom and my MIL w/in about 45 mins of us. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. Can you say guilt? I almost wish my mom were further away so I wouldn't feel so guilty about how much I don't see her/visit. We do talk on the phone every day. She understands (or says she does -- I think she does) about how busy we are and why we don't visit more often. I don't do much inviting of either family over to our house, either. It is so hard w/working full time and all of the girls' activities. Both sets of parents are so good to us, though. The pros far outweigh the cons for us.

We got a new computer (finally!) yesterday. It only took me about 2 hours to get it set up.:headache: I need to finish up getting all of our music transferred over to iTunes, and photos/files transferred. Now, of course, the fight for the computer is on, bigger and better than before...

I think we're tentatively thinking of Disney on January or first week in Feb...have any of you been during that time? Is it pool weather?

I'm hoping so Lydia that's when we go .. Jan30th to Feb17th :thumbsup2

Hate to break it to you but those are the coldest months of the year. My sis has been twice in January and they wear jeans and sweatshirts, sometimes taking the sweatshirts off during the day. But not exactly pool weather (although the pools ARE heated then!).

ttessa - I'm up 1 lb, but I'm good with that. Considering I ate a bowl of choco fudge ice cream yesterday - 1 lb is good! How are you doing?

So I'm so sad - DD10 doesn't want me to make her anything - she still doesn't know we're going to Disney, but when I showed her the Minnie shirt and asked her if she wanted something like it, she was like - it's cute, but no. Well what if I make it Hannah style, no. It makes me sad because when we go DD7 will have all these neat custom outfits and she'll have none. I think I'm going to go back to making her iron-ons and be happy with that.

I missed a whole page of updates when I wrote earlier.

Tammie, I am so sorry you miss your grandkids so much. If you wnat, I can send you MY kids for a day or twelve!

:rotfl2: Isn't it bittersweet? I missed mine terribly while she was gone this weekend, although it was so nice and relaxing and quiet, then was ready to boot her out the door less than an hour after she got home! Just like the men -- can't live w/em, can't live w/out em!

Jillian - Men!:headache: Did you at least have fun?! I hope that you feel better! It's good that you have planning to keep your mind off of it. I personally like the less expensive resort because we just don't stay in ours for very long at all. I am the wrong person to ask because I am cheap, and I say value, value value!

Tammie - Thinking of you w/ALL of those kids and THAT hike!! I hope that cheered you up a little.:)

Laura - It sounds like you all had a great time! Can't wait to see pics! Does your Playground committee use the Box Tops or Campbell's labels to get equipment? I am constantly saving those, even tho the girls are now past the playground stage. It's just habit. I also get them from my mom and MIL.

Tina - I am an iron on gal, since I can't sew. Will you make matching family shirts for your trip? Will your DH wear them? I am working on mine. I want us to have matching/coordinating shirts! Are you planning on videotaping you telling the girls about your surprise?

I guess I don't mind not being able to swim. And I think the crowds shouldn't be too bad, since it is right before school vacation week(s)...

We went in the beginning of January this year, and were able to use the pools. They're heated, so the water felt great. It was just when you got out that you were cold. :)

We didn't go in after dark, only because it did get so cool out, but there were TONS of people using the pool at that time (we stayed at the ASMu). It was kind of funny seeing all the steam coming off it in the early mornings as we headed to the food court for breakfast.

HAPPY TUESDAY!!

My DH isn't a 'matching' shirt type of guy. Nor am I really I just like to make the custom outfits because it's cute. I usually make them special princess dresses but I don't have the time this trip. Each dress takes about a month for me to design, make, fit and detail. I'll try to post pictures. I think the iron-ons will be OK for DD10 she really liked a few of the pictures I showed her from the CreativeDis thread here so that's what I'm going to try to do tonight.

Check out the tye-dye Mickey directions. It's a lot of fun to make using dental floss and the girls had a kick out of all three of us having customized Mickey shirts. DH didn't want one.

I'm hoping it's going to be so early in the morning for our flight that DDs aren't even going to notice we're at the airport. I'm not going to video tape, but maybe some pictures of their faces when we tell them. We have to leave the house at 4am because we have a 7am flight so they'll be pretty tired.

Did I tell you SIL said I could use her embroidery machine! So excited about that. I"m going to embroider their carryons with our last name, a cosmetic bag for DD10 and henley shirts for DH. I have to coordinate with her but hopefully I can find a day without DDs so I can get over there and do it.

Ok I'm going to go - have a great day everyone. Hey any Girl Scout Leaders here?? I'm a Brownie leader and we're reading our Quest book - very exciting.

Hiya all,

Tina - only a pound - time of day/month/whatever can account for that - let alone the goopy good stuff!!!! Me, well, I think I have lost another pound - unofficially. My mum is here and I didn't want to leave her on one of the few nights she is here to go weigh in - especially since I like to stay for the meeting... so I haven't updated the ticker as I like to keep it to my "official" WW weight loss - then I can't "cheat".

We are going to a Harvester for our meal tonight - her last night with us , so must stick to the colourful stuff on the salad cart - nothing goopy and I should be ok - spit roast chicken, baked potato, salad - not too many WW points, but still a great night out with no dishes to wash.

- and with the talk about Jan/Feb in WDW - I don't mind cold (though jeans and sweatshirt sounds like a good summer to me :goodvibes)- but is it wet/ rainy with it????

Tessa

a fellow brownie leader who has her head in the sand. I know I need to get prepped for the year but have ZERO motivation.

Yes we take all the box tops and lables. We won 1 million soup lables last year. Our families are great at entering all of the contests they put out. with General Mills based in Minneapolis it seems there is always a contest going on. We are getting creative with fund raising. If I can get the photos I'll put up our plans.

I guess I don't mind not being able to swim. And I think the crowds shouldn't be too bad, since it is right before school vacation week(s)...

My sister said the crowds are very minimal! The only bad thing is that is when some attractions are closed for refurbs.

Hiya all,

- and with the talk about Jan/Feb in WDW - I don't mind cold (though jeans and sweatshirt sounds like a good summer to me :goodvibes)- but is it wet/ rainy with it????

Tessa

Nope! Pretty dry that time of year!!!

Tessa - I am so proud of you with the weight loss!!! And when I was going to JC, one of the things they focused on was % of weight lost and the health benefits. First it was 5% of my total weight, then 10%. Each milestone can add years to your life! Good for you!

Well, we are trying to plan a "tailgate party" for the beginning of football season. I'm thinking we will have around 30 friends and neighbors here, not counting kids!!! :scared1: I've never done a party this size, not counting birthday parties, and I don't think those ever reached this size.

We want to do tailgate food, like wings, and munchies, and we'll supply the beer/wine/soft drinks and maybe a little bit of liquor. Then ask everyone to bring appys and desserts. I think that should be okay, ya think?

Pam- I had a great time thank you :) I never laughed so hard in all my life. I wish Mike would get out with friends and relax he needs it.

Lydia- I agree with Kara Brrr... But when you live in New England it's like summer to us LOL. We have decided our dates we are driving Leaving Boston Feb 28th and Arriving March 2nd we will stay until March 10th and be home in Boston on the 11th. I love the crowds this time of year and also the weather it usually is in the 70's so perfect for Park touring.

Tina- Dsis wore matching shirts, but it was a struggle she was fine with me making them then decided when we were down there not to wear them.

Kara- I can't believe how much you have gotten done this summer. We usually do all of our projects in the fall getting ready for winter. This years goals ...
Clean out Garage so Van can be parked inside.
Car starters for both cars
Go thru Luca's baby clothes organize and donate what I don't need anymore.
Kitchen floors need to be redone

Cammie- Love the pictures of Amanda she is so cute. I love her expressions. I can just imagine what she would say if she could talk. I think you would have your hands full!

Well cleaning the house today getting the Living room done from top to bottom. I am going to do this with each room and the Sept 2nd the housekeeper starts. Whew!

Kara- that sounds great we usually get one of those huge subs. There is a sub shop here that will make 3 different types so everyone is happy. People will still bring beer etc.. usually what they like. Wings are hard to do in bulk so see if you can find them somewhere cheap that will make them for you? Then I hit Costco for chips juice for the kids and I stock up on Soda when there is a huge sale. Also chili is a Huge hit and easy to make a big pot.

Jillian - believe it or not, it only took Ally and I (well, mostly me - she spent 30 minutes hosing off a wagon I'm selling on craigs list) a little over an hour! It was mostly just rearranging and organizing, and I swept it out, too.

But we have a 3 car garage and we could only get one car and the golf cart inside. Now EVERYTHING is in there. We hung the bikes, organized all the yard stuff. It looks fantastic!

And in FL, there are no basements for storage, and it gets too hot in the attic, so most people use their garage and park cars in the driveway. I was adamant about needing a 3 car garage just so one side could be nothing but holiday decor, etc. The only fear there is opening the boxes very slowly and carefully and searching for snakes/lizards/frogs/spiders when we pull them out. I usually go through them all in the garage just in case. Then haul the stuff inside that way.

OK, off to lunch. Forgot to eat breakfast and the cleaning ladies are here so I'm heading out. Cheerio!

Oh, good idea on the sub!!!! Jeff makes his own wings so he'll be on the lookout for specials between now and then, and stock up. He makes the BEST wings anywhere!!! Seriously! They are spicy, but with good flavor - not just hot to be hot, ya know?

And he grilled them last time - so much better than frying them!!!! Any other ideas????

Yes asking everyone to do an app or snack would be great. Now start watching for sales on pop. I was shocked what types of deals I found. It sounds really fun.

You never said why the cabana lost its license for liquor sales? That's just wrong. what else are you going to do at the pool :rotfl2:

There's a big blame game going on with the cabana bar liquor license. They are saying that the former club manager didn't file the proper paperwork. Who know! But we were there last weekend and they now have a beer/wine license which works for me!!!

Laura - glad to hear the party went well for you! I know you were stressing over that!

Check out the tye-dye Mickey directions. It's a lot of fun to make using dental floss and the girls had a kick out of all three of us having customized Mickey shirts. DH didn't want one.
These sound so cute!!! Do you have the instructions on how to make them? I haven't made a tye-dye in a long time, but loved doing it and it'd be fun with the little man. He'd get a kick out of it.

2 things that I consider my "signature" dishes when I bring a dish to pass are chicken wing dip and oreo balls...I'd be more than happy to share the recipe if you'd like. The wing dip is a pretty decent size and SO yummy, and the oreo balls are a piece of cake and are no-bake. :woohoo:

edited to add: I apologize for not knowing everyone's names...my computer here at work is being funky about images so I can't see some signatures, etc.

Kara - what about a big nacho spread or a party size pizza - there's a place near my dad's family that does HUGE pizza's that serve 50 people - it's actually two large pizzas in a long rectangle - it's massive. Around here everyone loves the cold sauce pizzas in RI - can't stand them, but it's a crowd favorite. Or what about chilli in the crockpot!

Shelly - I'll find the instructions out there and PM them to you.

CRDis - I'm having an internal struggle with the other two Brownie leaders of my troop. I want to do so much more then they do and it makes me crazy, but they good to keep me held back or I'd be out of control. I wasn't a GS as a child, but the morales and values are HUGE for kids. DD10 is a Junior and she loves it - last year we went camping - CAMPOREE and I stayed over with her troop and brought my Daisies for the day - they loved it. We're planning a few Try-its that the girls voted on, but only through Nov.
