mmmm those are some red flags. Many college age kids don't understand the responsibilities of pets, or maybe they are wanting to keep one but not the other? It's hard to find new families for our pets, especially when we have high standards.
Not that high standards are bad, they are very good, just something I've noticed.
Cats and leather furniture don't mix, the cats will claw it....BUT here's a suggestion for that. Something my ex-SIL did was take the carpet protector (the stuff with the nubs on the bottom) and cut pieces of that the size of the area she wanted the cats to avoid, she put it nub side UP where the cats where marking/scratching and since the cats HATE that stuff on their paws it taught them to avoid the area. So, while she probably won't want to staple it to her furniture she might be able to figure out how to secure that stuff to her couch to keep the cats away......just a thought.
