"Look at those Chompers!!" A January 2010 AKL DxDP TR...FINAL Update: 6/12 Day 8!

Crap!! :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Freakin' hilarious...

That was quite a good cliffhanger this time...by the way...

Not that you don't usually have good cliffhangers, it's just that this one left me particularly indignant that there was no more...
:rolleyes1

I'm sorry that the meal stank (stunk?? :confused3) at San Angel although this is not the first time I've heard lousy reviews.

Can't wait for more.:thumbsup2

I was 2 updates behind....the tooth! :scared: Where is it?!?! My guess is that Dash hid it, thinking Tink/the Tooth Fairy would know exactly where to find it anyway. This should get entertaining, me thinks! ;)

What a wonderful afternoon at Epcot! Love all the character pics. We have to do that 5 characters-in 5 minutes trick on our next trip. ::yes:: I love that Mickey is holding Jack-Jack's "tail"!

The Beverly pics cracked me up!!!!!! :rotfl: I hope I can get Joe on that again, it's been a while since we've been in there. I bet he can remember there is a bad one, but cannot remember which it is. Muhahahahaha!

Teppan Edo sounds so, so good. It's been on our list for a while, it gets such great reviews! Sorry to hear about San Angel though! I had thought they changed their menu recently and started to get better reviews...but maybe I was wrong! :sad2:

I love your "Let's see what happens" attitude about dinner! I'm looking forward to seeing what you get!

I'm so glad we didn't make reservations for San Angel when we go. I love Mexican food and would be so disappointed if it was gross. Can't wait to see where you ate dinner. We have Ohana's booked for our first night. I'm looking forward to it. Our family likes meat, so it sounds like something that we all will love.

No tooth.

Did you ever find it?

So Mr. I and I decided to sit down in the waiting area and just wait and see what happened first... If our 'Ohana buzzer went off first we'd eat there, if our Kona ressie came first, we'd eat there.

I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience at San Angel! At least the manager was understanding. I really hope your Ohana buzzer goes off first!

Sorry I left you hanging. Course that's the whole point right? To make you wanna read more, more, more!

The meal STANK! :rotfl:

Working on an update next!

The tooth...oh the tooth! :rolleyes1 It was a great afternoon. The 5 min character run was FAB! I still crack up at the Bev pics! And Teppan Edo.... *DROOL* I wish I had the courage to try a Japanese Steakhouse here in Austin.

I thought with the recent menu changes, we'd be ok there too. I sincerely hope that they were just having a bad night.

The pager held our FATE in its hands!! :lmao:

I think y'all would love Ohana too! We ate there last trip and it worth an attempt at eating there twice!

I LOVE Mexican food, and admit I'm spoiled by Tex-Mex but San Angel was just bad.

My money is on Kona!!! Can't wait to find out!

:rotfl:

:lmao: Sorry to burst your bubble!

I bet!

:rotfl::lmao: s#it on a counter :rotfl::lmao:

:lmao: I knew you'd appreciate it. and I'm willing to bet you know where I was typing when it happened!! :lmao:

Did you ever find it?

You'll have to wait and seeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience at San Angel! At least the manager was understanding. I really hope your Ohana buzzer goes off first!

The manager was really understanding. Almost too understanding. Like he wasn't surprised. :sad2:

As I last left you, we were sitting in the lobby of the Poly waiting to see if our 'Ohana buzzer beat our Kona ADR time. I think I may have gotten confused on times in my last post.... the Kona ADR was for 7:30 and we were checked into 'Ohana by 6:30pm so we must have tried San Angel even earlier than I thought. That and we made pretty good time with our monorail trek over to Poly. Prolly 30 mins in total to get us over there.

While Mr. I waited with a sleeping Jack, Dash and I checked out the art gallery. Dash really enjoyed the more fanciful pieces and the MJ made of candy. I about :faint: over the prices.

We sat back down on the comfy sofas. Dash got bored quickly and he wanted to walk around so we showed him how far he could go away from us. I think Mr. I texted back and forth with his sister. She and BIL were driving down from Atlanta that evening.

We got on Allears from our phones and read the menu again for Kona. It all looked yummy too but I was really starting to REALLY want that buzzer to go off for 'Ohana. I think I knew that there was no way we'd be up for a 9:50pm ressie on our last night of the trip. So I asked Mr. I what he thought about just saying to heck with fate deciding and just waiting another hour for 'Ohana. He said it was up to me. So I thought and thought about it. I knew Jack-Jack was asleep, and the longer he slept the better. I knew that after all day, the boys being good in Kona was probably slim. Especially if we had to wake up Jack-Jack to eat there. I knew I REALLY wanted those sticky wings and bread pudding!

So I decided that we'd go up and cancel Kona, and wait for 'Ohana anyway! Surely we could kill an hour in the Poly, right??

So much for letting fate decide eh?

RIGHT as we stood up to go up the elevator to wait in the 'Ohana waiting area instead of the downstairs lobby, Jack-Jack woke up and our BUZZER went off !!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I was thrilled! What great timing. It wasn't even time for our original Kona ressie!!!! :woohoo: So maybe it was fate?? I mean, had I not already decided on 'Ohana, the buzzer would have gone off for 'Ohana first anyway!

We hit the elevator, handed our buzzer in, and were seated by 7:30pm!

I walked over and let Kona know we wouldn't be eating there while we waited for our hostess to come to seat us!

I was sooooooooooooooooooo thrilled to be eating at 'Ohana after all, and not risk missing out on this great meal because of being tired on our last night!

I also knew the timing of it all meant we'd be there for Wishes! But would we get a table in viewing range?

YES WE WOULD! We weren't by the window but were within eye shot. I sat on the bench side and Mr. I took the chair. Jack-Jack had a nap but not a very long one so he was still a little cranky. He insisted on sitting next to me instead of in his high chair. So I was surrounded by the boys.

Our server was great. She brought the drink menu but I knew about some drinks that weren't on the menu, thanks to the DIS. So we ordered a Lapu Lapu and Back Scratcher. I can't remember which one of us ordered which, but I didn't like either one. I'm just not a huge rum fan, I'm afraid. So Mr. I took one for the team and drank them both. :rotfl:

He was feeling pretty good by the end of the meal.

Our food started arriving VERY quickly. Soon enough we had wings, pot stickers, our salad and our dipping sauces. I'm not a huge pot stickers fan but Mr. I enjoyed these. We all enjoyed the salad, even the boys. Dash wants this dressing for our salads at home!

The wings weren't as good as I remembered them being. :sad2: I was a little sad. They weren't as crispy and I can't do soggy chicken wings. Just my personal texture issues I'm guessing.

Jack-Jack, however, had no issue with the wings. He ate a ton of these. Now, he didn't exactly eat the meat off clean, more like took a few bites and then sucked the sauce off and then threw the wing into the used bowl, and started on another one.

He liked the sauce so much, I caught him with

the TONGS in his mouth!

:lmao:

I quickly removed these from his grasp as they had sharp little pointy things on there.

January2010295.jpg

Diggin in!

January2010302.jpg

He takes his eating very seriously!

Next we had a bowl full of noodles and broccoli. BOTH of these were much much better than last year. Noodles had much more flavor and weren't slimy or greasy like some noodles can be. The broccoli was cooked enough but not too much and again had more flavor than last year! Jack-Jack and I fought over what was left of these after Mr. I and Dash got their fill.

January2010303.jpg

I took what was left of the noodles and broccoli, mixed them together and gave them to Jack-Jack.

January2010299.jpg

Mr. I feeling good with his Lapu Lapu.

The server brought the meat by but we had just got our aps so we turned it down. It was before our noodles and broc. So it took a bit to get the meat around to the table again. By the time it was back around, we were getting full! So we didn't eat as much meat as we would have normally. I think I had 5 shrimp, 2 pieces of steak and 1 piece of pork, and I shared all that with Jack-Jack. Dash really enjoyed the steak and pork! I must say the meat was all much better than last year!! None of it was dry or over cooked. The steak was still medium! It was all REALLY good. I was kinda bummed I hadn't said YES to the meat sooner, instead of sending the meat server away the first round. Oh well. I knew I had to save some room for dessert, so I passed on round 3 of the meat offerings.

January2010296.jpg

He kept trying to feed me!

January2010297.jpg

I have no idea what I'm doing in this picture!

January2010298.jpg

January2010301.jpg

The chicken wings were all gone!!! Jack went through them all!

About the time we were eating the meat, they started the Wishes Music!! I could see the fireworks from between the wall and the little tiki support pole. It was a great little tucked away viewing area!

January2010305.jpg

January2010306.jpg

Zoomed in, through the little gap between the wall and pole!

January2010307.jpg

Jack-Jack liked the little peek through spot too!

It was a very magical moment for us!! I sang along as I finished my meal and the server came around and retrieved our plates. We had hot towels still and we used EVERY one of them. Jack-Jack was a mess!! I had wing sauce all over my shirt!! I was so glad that we were at 'Ohana that was family style and noisey because I didn't care that I was a mess or that the boys were a bit antsy. Love that about 'Ohana.

January2010311.jpg

Continued in next post....

Contined from Previous Post!!

The server brought our dessert right at the end of Wishes. She brought a huge bowl of extra ice cream with sprinkles on it for the boys

January2010316.jpg

Jack-Jack wastes no time digging in!

and that yummy good ness that is 'Ohana bread pudding. *DROOL* It might just be my favorite dessert ever. Love it. I poured that delicious sauce all over it and Mr. I and I dug in! I kept stealing more ice cream from the boys' bowl! :rotfl:

January2010321.jpg

January2010317.jpg

With some missing!

Dash had his birthday button on and before we knew it they were bringing a cupcake! He heaped on some ice cream on his plate too!

January2010318.jpg

January2010319.jpg

January2010320.jpg

As we were finishing dessert, the Charo look alike, hookie hookie lookie lady called all the birthday kids up. Dash wanted to go so I sent him by himself. I was scared I'd say something snarky and be picked up on her mike, so I stayed put!

:lmao:

January2010322.jpg

He finished every last drop of both drinks!!! :rotfl:

Dash came back with a lei. He was very happy about that. I heard him say his name for her. Was sweet.

January2010323.jpg

Jack-Jack carpe'd his diem with that meal! He was covered!!

I had finished as much of that bread pudding as much as I could! I was sad to leave some in the bowl! :rotfl2:

We finished up and heading out, trying to clean up the mess as best we could.

We made our way to the monorail and waited for the next one. I asked the attendant there how late the buses ran after MK closes, an hour right? The dude was clueless. I think DISers know more than most CMs!

Sure enough there was a bus waiting for us, despite the time of 9pm. We hopped on and warmed ourselves back up. Dash still had the back scratcher and lei!

The bus driver informed us he had to sit and wait until the bus filled up. :scared1:

Thankfully he was just kidding!!!

We were off quickly enough and back to the hotel in no time. We got the boys cleaned up, turned on the news and watched more footage of the devastation of Haiti :sad2:, checked in with MIL about her driving down the next day, and turned in...

AFTER looking for the tooth! ;)

We looked everywhere. It was no where to be found. We checked everywhere. Dash went to bed, again, without a tooth under his pillow!

We had to get to bed fairly early. We needed as much sleep as possible. We had to be at DHS EARLY to get FPs for TSM and to get as much of the park done before MIL got there!

Up next:

Would we make it early enough to get FPs for TSM? Would we like our lunch at Mama Melrose's ? Would we get enough park covered in the time we had before MIL got there?

Would we EVER find that tooth?!!

Stay tuned!!!!!!!!

So we ordered a Lapu Lapu and Back Scratcher. I can't remember which one of us ordered which, but I didn't like either one. I'm just not a huge rum fan, I'm afraid. So Mr. I took one for the team and drank them both. :rotfl:

I bet!!

Glad you got the meal that you wanted, AND without having to wait the full 2 hrs! We ate at O'hana back in 2005 and the meat was dry and tough, we've never given it a second chance. I've read lots of great reviews though, so I'm sure we just caught it on a bad night.

How great that you got to see Wishes from your table!

Your 'Ohana meal looks delicious!!! I'm so hungry and this is NOT helping. Yum!! I'm glad you all enjoyed it so much. :)

January2010297.jpg

I have no idea what I'm doing in this picture!

Looks like you're trying to pick up that bit of steak without using your hands! Excellent telekinetic mojo there, twinnie!

Super update! Your 'Ohana meal made me really jealous and kinda hungry. i LOVED the bread pudding... mmmm... bananas and caramel... mmm...

Oh, sorry *wipes up the drool*

Anyway, i'm so glad you got to both enjoy your meal at 'Ohana (even if at the expense of the equally delicious Kona) AND enjoy Wishes again! :cloud9:

Great update! Glad you guys got in at Ohana and even saw fireworks. Looks yummy! Jack-Jack sure liked those chicken wings! Hope you get the TSM fast passes in the morning!

Sorry I have been MIA but I'm all caught up. Looks like 2 very fun days at Epcot. How great to have Boma for breakfast so often. Makes since on DXDDP. I had such a laugh over the whole pretzel situation at DTD! I can't believe Mr. I got 3 and you only got 1!! Oh well, he is the one getting more fat.:lmao:
What a magical night at 'Ohana. Can't wait for more!

I'm so glad you got to eat at Ohana, and that you didn't have to wait very long! Sounds like an amazing meal; I can't wait to eat there someday!

I was glad too!! Could really go for some 'Ohana right now!!! MMM!!! So good! The meat was really dry and tough on our first visit there too. So much better this last trip! Try it again! If nothing else, for the bread pudding!!

Your 'Ohana meal looks delicious!!! I'm so hungry and this is NOT helping. Yum!! I'm glad you all enjoyed it so much. :)

Sorry to aid and abet in your hunger! :rotfl:

Jedi mind trick on my steak, eh? Figures.

Stop making me crave the bread pudding even more!!!!!!!!! :sad1:

I will get to Kona one of these days!! I told Mr. I that I want to stay in the Poly one of these years, so we can eat at the restaurants there as many times as we ate at Boma at AKL! Can you say DREAMING?!

Yeah. Dreaming. But what's a girl got but her dreams?

Great update! Glad you guys got in at Ohana and even saw fireworks. Looks yummy! Jack-Jack sure liked those chicken wings! Hope you get the TSM fast passes in the morning!

It was yummy! I was so excited about getting to see/hear Wishes again. Was a total magic moment! pixiedust:

Jack-Jack must have been starving. He totally chowed down that night.

Ohana's looks awesome!! I can not wait to go!

I can't wait for you to go, too!! Do you have ressies there for your upcoming trip??

Glad you're back and all caught up!! Glad you found my pretzel misery amusing. :sad2: :lmao:

Boma breakfast nearly everyday was a total DxDP surprise/spoilage. It would have never happened if we were regular DDP or OOP but with the Dx, we were able to use our credits way different. The best thing about the buffet was feeding the boys. They weren't limited to one thing, could have fruit everymorning, etc. Not that I didn't enjoy it, cus I did, but I ended up eating the same things everyday!

I'm so glad you got to eat at Ohana, and that you didn't have to wait very long! Sounds like an amazing meal; I can't wait to eat there someday!

You have to try it someday! Hope the day you eat there, that everything is cooked right! It really makes a difference! I'm was super happy that we didn't have to wait as long as we were quoted. Just goes to show you, if you have time and are willing to wait, it pays to check in at the actual restaurant if the ADR line says they are booked!

I've uploaded and resized all the pics for Day 4! I am going to try to get a big update done this weekend!

:goodvibes

I can't wait for you to go, too!! Do you have ressies there for your upcoming trip??

We have one for our first night there. My parents are coming to meet us for dinner that night. My step dad is a big meat eater so he will love it. My mom loves anything with bananas in it and she also love shrimp. So they will be set. My kids will normally eat meat and noodles... so here's hoping. :lmao: Eric also loves shrimp, and he never gets it here. I don't like seafood so we never have it. When we were teenagers he took me to Red Lobster for our 1 year anniversary and I ordered popcorn shrimp, because he said it was good . He said I had to eat the whole thing if I wanted this really yummy looking desert... :lmao: So I did eat it all, but now I hate it.

All caught up again! Great report! Ohana look Yum-O for dinner!! ;)
We have a ressie there but for Breakfast. I cant wait to see the Poly!
Waiting to read more!! popcorn::
