"Look at those Chompers!!" A January 2010 AKL DxDP TR...FINAL Update: 6/12 Day 8!

What a great update. Your pretzel rod fiasco had me really giggling. I know it wasn't funny for you at the time but it's hilarious now. But poor you only getting one, no fair. I also thought WPE was really yummy.

My mother still does that throwing arm out thing to me too. And of course, I do it in my minivan as well. It's a mom thing! ;)

I'm really enjoying your TR and love all your wonderful pictures. Your little boys are cute and look like a lot of fun.

My son just turned 8 weeks old and I'm having the best time rasing a little boy! It's going to be a blast when he gets older and is able to do more things, besides eat, sleep, poop, and cry. :)

I look forward to reading more, thanks for getting me excited for my upcoming trip in 2 weeks.

We last left off Wednesday night after the Great Pretzel Debacle of 2010.

We had ever intention of sleeping late the next morning and really we did pretty well. I think I started stirring around 10:20 and the boys were up by 10:45am and I'm including Mr. I in that statement.

Thankfully I woke up earlier than Dash and was able to sneak a peek under his pillow to make sure the Toothfairy came the night before... *AHEM*

To find there was no tooth under his pillow. :confused3 I started to think maybe Tink really did take over toothfairy duties. I looked on the table that I had laid it on the night before and it wasn't there either. I quietly whisper to a groggy Mr. Incredible if he'd taken the tooth in the middle of the night but he hadn't. So we had a case of the missing tooth. I'm trying to look between the wall and the bed, under the bed, under the covers without waking the boys and letting on what I was up to. No tooth.

Hmmmm....... curious.... very curious.

Thankfully Dash was in Disney World and far too happy and excited about being at the Happiest Place on Earth to worry about a tooth! He didn't even check for his loot from the Toothfairy or think to ask about it. That bought me another day to find that stinkin' tooth.

We talked about our plans for the day as we showered and got dressed and quickly decided we wanted to try for a lunch ADR somewhere in Epcot. We already had dinner ressie's at San Angel. We knew we couldn't get into Le Cellier. I wasn't feeling Germany or China or Coral Reef and we had reservations for Chefs de France and Tutto for our Epcot Day 3.

So................

I called reservations and secured a 1:20pm ressie at Teppan Edo. Mr. Incredible had wanted to try this one and I had been skeptical because you can do a table cooking place in Austin but I figured with the extra credits with DxDP why not? The boys would enjoy watching the show because they sit up at the island all the time to watch Mr. I cook.

We ate a quick snack of peanut butter crackers to hold us over to lunch and were out of the room and on the bus by 11:40am.

There was NO one on the bus. I mean none. We were the only family on the bus.

January2010238.jpg

All by ourselvesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

January2010237.jpg

Dash remembered to bring his mask back for Kidcot stops

January2010241.jpg

Jack-Jack was getting the hang of the whole bus thing

We arrived quickly enough and were through security and in the park by noon. We decided we didn't want to try Soarin' again as we would most likely do it with MIL on Sunday so we took our time and just enjoyed being there. Our first stop was the Character Spot. The guy said the line was 15 mins. I asked Mr. I if that was ok and told him it would be a good way to get a lot of character shots and not have to wait in anymore character lines the rest of the week. He had no problem with it, I don't know why I was justifiying it. I guess I just wanted to make sure he was enjoying his vacation too!

The line only took 5 mins and in no time it was our turn.

January2010242.jpg

The boys having fun in the queue. We were still getting "monkey on your back" jokes.

We didn't take a lot of photo pass pics so I didn't order the CD or any prints. So all I have are my shots. And honestly the photo pass photog's weren't any better!!

Here you go! 5 characters in 5 mins!!

January2010243.jpg

The Big Cheese himself!

January2010245.jpg

Jack-Jack wasn't scared, just not quite sure what he was supposed to do!

January2010246.jpg

Happy to meet a "wa-wa" . I found it amusing that he recognized Pluto as being a dog!

January2010249.jpg

Pluto tried to get down on the boys' level for a better photo op.

January2010253.jpg

I think Minnie was both their favorites. Jack-Jack seemed mesmerized.

January2010255.jpg

Donald was trying to hold Jack-Jack in place.

January2010256.jpg

Jack-Jack recognized Goofy as another "wa-wa"

January2010258.jpg

Jack-Jack was done by this point. Good thing this was our last character.

We left there and decided to wander into Club Cool on our way to the WS.

I don't know how I managed it, but somehow Mr. I didn't know about Beverly.

Muahahahahahahaha

So I played it 'cool' and snuck in a few decent tasting ones, being the nice wife, filling up the cups for him and Mr. I loves most things Italian so I suggested he try that one so he happily agreed.

January2010259.jpg

I managed to keep the fact that I had the camera ready, hidden from him, some how. I think this was the moment he knew I had tricked him. Look at the glare!! :rotfl:

January2010260.jpg

Tastes sooooooo bad! I was cracking up at this point!

:lmao: :lmao:

Dash wasn't paying attention so I got him too!! This time with Mr. I's help.

January2010261.jpg

"Oooo Mom I wanna try that one, too!"

January2010262.jpg

Trying not to spit it out

January2010263.jpg

Pure disgust!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Loved it!!

Dash did really like the Costa Rica one, I think. We stayed for a few refills while I looked around.

I really wanted one of those cool build your own cups with a coke slushie but knew we had a lunch ressie in about 20 mins and I didn't wanna fill up on Coke slushie, or waste it if I didn't finish in time!! I figured I'd get one later on in the trip. *sighed* Never happened. It's on my list for next trip!

We slowly made our way, taking in the sights and got to Japan in plenty of time. I had eaten at Teppan Edo waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, either my childhood trip in 1986 or 1989. So it had been a while but I was pretty sure I knew where the restaurant was. Mr. Incredible tried to tell me that it had to be in the back of the pavilion and I told him I thought it was upstairs. And he was all, there's nothing upstairs, it's a dummy second story. Look at all those buildings back there, he says. It has to be back there. So I kept my mouth shut and slowly walked toward the back, knowing full well we would pass the menu board by the stairs.

Sure enough... he says... Oh, I guess you were right.

*insert smug smilie here*

:rotfl:

I definitely enjoyed my moment of being right. I know, I'm shameless. But I was feeling pretty proud of myself. I had gotten them on Beverly!! And knew where the restaurant was after 21 years not eating there!!

Up Next:

Would we be happy with our spur of the moment ADR choice? Would the boys like the food?? Would we?

What would we do to pass the time in the afternoon until our San Angel Inn ressie? Would San Angel Inn be as bad as everyone says it is?

Stay tuned!!!!!!

Oh no - I wonder where the tooth is????? I was always afraid I would wake the boys or not be able to find the tooth, so I never had them put their teeth under their pillows. We have a "toothcase" that we got from the dentist and they would put them in there and leave them on their dresser - so much easier to be sneaky that way!

Your Beverly pics are so fun! I may have had a little fun with the Beverly myself this last trip........

And good for you, reveling in your rightness! Don really doesn't like to say the words 'you were right' so I have to do the happy dance everytime he does! :lmao:

You lost the tooth??? Well, okay not YOU but...you lost the tooth?? :scared1: I can't tell my daughter THAT so I'm hoping that there's a bit more to the story. You guys seem so far to be eating at a LOT of the same places that we are planning on trying out. Maybe I really AM a stalker!!:rotfl2:

I have been sneakily using the pics of your boys posing with characters to try and persuade my son to brave the character spots this time around. I'm all...see how little Jack-Jack is and HE'S not afraid. And just five minutes ago my hubby jumped on the bandwagon and asked him if he thought he'd be brave enough to have his pic taken with some of the characters this time.

We only had one character meal last time at HS. We did the Hollywood and Vine lunch and when Goliath came around my son had his back to him. Goliath laid a gentle hand on his shoulder to get his attention and when he turned around and saw who it was he immediately began to wail!! Goliath backed away immediately to make him feel more at ease and he did stop crying but no amount of entreaty would make him go near for pictures. Of course, neither my husband nor I could keep a straight face during the few moments that we attempted to make him feel more comfortable...it was DANG funny...so maybe he didn't trust us anymore.:rolleyes1 At any rate, I had to trade places with him so he could see any visitors coming a mile off and only my daughter posed for pics...and only with June...she had no use for the rest.

SHE claims she's going to get tons of pics taken this time and we've been trying to get my son to feel more comfortable with the idea as well...so thanks...you've been a great help. He claims to be willing to meet all of the characters and is especially interested in seeing Buzz BUT we'll see when we get there.

I cannot BELIEVE you subjected your 6 year old to Beverly!! I have already informed my entire family about the gross Italy pop (soda, whatever) so I can't try it. Now, I'm beginning to feel sorry that I'm not going to be able to be tricksy. I think I might taste it though, just so I can say I've done it. Of course, it loses some of the fun when one does it willingly, but...

Dash's gross face is priceless though...I formally take back my disbelief...it was well worth it. Besides, the kid can definitely take a joke.

I wish my kids would sleep in on vacation!! If they're up late they might sleep until 8:30 am but that's about it. Of course, I don't think we've stayed up quite that late either, so...

Can't wait for more...am desperate to hear about the tooth issue.

Continued from previous post!

So every single time I saw his new toothless grin for the rest of the trip. I would say " Look at those chompers!!"

:rotfl: :lmao:

:rolleyes1

Might not be as funny to everyone else. But I thought it was hilarious.

Hey - I think it's funny too! I'm enjoying this TR - it's keeping me from doing my work!

We have had a few tooth fairy issues too before. I hope the missing one shows up. Love the Beverly photos!! LOL!!

Great update! Can't wait to hear what happened to that tooth. Good thing Dash was too distracted by Disney to notice!

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences at Teppan Edo and San Angel. We haven't been to San Angel and are curious how it really is...looks so pretty, but so many bad reviews. Interested to hear your take on it. Also interested to hear what you guys thought of Teppan Edo. We went there and, coincidentally, that's the next thing I'm writing about on our TR. I wonder if we had the same chef or anything? I'll wait and see!

Glad you guys got to sleep in...such a nice way to start the day! :goodvibes

It is a mom thing!! I can giggle about the pretzel thing now but not so much when it happened. :rolleyes1 WPE is really yummy!

Glad you're enjoying reading!! Boys are so different than girls, for sure. I'd be clueless with a girl!! 8 wks is still a tough age to get sleep!! But the time passes soooooooo quickly, doesn't it? At least in retrospect, maybe not when you're sleep deprived.

Thanks for the compliment on my boys!

So exciting that you're going in just 2 wks!!!! :yay:

I am really enjoying your tr!

I love the Beverly pictures :rotfl:

Can't wait for the Teppan Edo review!

:welcome:

Glad you're enjoying it!!

The Beverly pics crack me up, to this day! So funny. Gonna try to get the Teppan Edo lunch update done today or tomorrow!!

Oh no - I wonder where the tooth is????? I was always afraid I would wake the boys or not be able to find the tooth, so I never had them put their teeth under their pillows. You'll have to stay tuned for the tooth!! Normally it's not an issue, or at least it hadn't been before. But for some reason, that hotel room was a big tooth pit. Good idea about that "toothcase". I didn't think we'd have an issue because the tooth was in a ziploc bag.

Glad you enjoyed the Beverly pics! hehe I enjoyed it way too much.

And I did revel in my rightness!! :lmao: He was so sure that he knew where it was, and I'm over there thinking... Look Buddy. You've been here once to my 11 times!!! What makes you think you know where it is and I don't?! :snooty: :rotfl2: But I was a bit nicer than that about it.

I'm loving your report - can't wait to hear more!

:welcome: So glad you're enjoying the read!

I told you that I was scared your kids were gonna be disappointed!! You'll have to wait and see if we find it! :rolleyes1

You are stalking me!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: Kidding. You just have great taste, if we're eating at all the same locations! :snooty:

I have been sneakily using the pics of your boys posing with characters to try and persuade my son to brave the character spots this time around. I'm all...see how little Jack-Jack is and HE'S not afraid. And just five minutes ago my hubby jumped on the bandwagon and asked him if he thought he'd be brave enough to have his pic taken with some of the characters this time.

That's so cute that you're using the pics of the boys with characters to convince your DS that it's ok!! Awww!!!

We only had one character meal last time at HS. We did the Hollywood and Vine lunch and when Goliath came around my son had his back to him. Good luck with the pics!! Bribery always works for me! *AHEM*

I cannot BELIEVE you subjected your 6 year old to Beverly!! I have already informed my entire family about the gross Italy pop (soda, whatever) so I can't try it. Of course, it loses some of the fun when one does it willingly, but...

It was fabulous!!! I'd do it again in a heart beat. I'm hoping Dash forgets between now and next trip about Beverly so I can torture him s'more!

Dash's gross face is priceless though...I formally take back my disbelief...it was well worth it. Besides, the kid can definitely take a joke.

He totally can. I think I should blow that pic up and hang it in his room! :lmao:

I wish my kids would sleep in on vacation!! If they're up late they might sleep until 8:30 am but that's about it. Of course, I don't think we've stayed up quite that late either, so...

We all sleep in! We're so night owls. And we had been up past midnight and had been up early for several days in a row, plus the time change and everything so we were all in need of some sleep!

Can't wait for more...am desperate to hear about the tooth issue.

:rotfl2:

I'm telling ya... you're gonna be disapointed!!! :guilty:

Hey - I think it's funny too! I'm enjoying this TR - it's keeping me from doing my work!

Glad you like the title and are enjoying the TR!! Anything to keep you from working, I'm all for! :thumbsup2

:welcome:

We have had a few tooth fairy issues too before. I hope the missing one shows up. Love the Beverly photos!! LOL!!

Thanks!! Tooth issues are no fun. Up until this trip, the tooth fairy had been a most high priority but Disney seems to have a way of puting everything else on the back burner!

Glad you enjoyed the photos!

Great update! Can't wait to hear what happened to that tooth. Good thing Dash was too distracted by Disney to notice!

It was a good start to the day!! That would be cool if we ended up with the same chef. I'm anxious to hear what y'all thought as well!!

San Angel.... well.... you'll have to wait and see!!!!!

:rotfl2:

Tell me more about this bribery business...

Is there a particular strategy you use?? Is it something as simple as...yes you CAN have dessert even though you didn't finish your dinner...or something more complicated? Exactly how much dough am I going to be out here?

The photos of Jack-Jack seem to have worked. He told me yesterday he wants to get his pic taken with Buzz and a host of other characters...even Princesses (but only some of them.) :cool1: Hopefully he won't change his mind when we get there.

Can't wait for more.

After determining just exactly where the restaurant was... *AHEM* we parked the stroller behind the menu board and headed up the million bazillion stairs. Jack-Jack walked on his own, one step at a time and we held his hands. Was quite cute. We checked in and they handed us a pager.

We sat down long enough to snap one picture

January2010265.jpg

Love the angle and lighting from the window in this picture!

and then our pager went off and we were headed back to our table. We shared the table with a family of four from New York. They were staying off property and were leaving the next morning.

January2010266.jpg

Dash was super excited to say the least.

We all ordered and got our appetizers served before our chef arrived at the table. Mr. I and I both ordered the mixed tempura to share with the boys, afraid that might not like the main courses. When our table mates got healthy sushi, Mr. I and I both shared a smirk. We were the pooh sized people eating fried foods to their skinny people eating sushi. The irony was not lost on us! :rotfl:

The Dad from the New Yorker family was quite talkative and kept asking questions about where we were from. I am the talker in my family so it was appropriate I guess that I was seated next to chatty Dad. We compared general information about NY v. Texas, weather mainly, though I think he was surprised to learn we don't drive pick up trucks, don't wear cowboy boots or own large belt buckles and 10 gallon hats. That Austin is a fairly liberal, environmental concious city. I just love hearing how all Texans are the same thing.

Since we were on the Dining plan we both ordered steak and shrimp and they recommended the chicken for the kids, so we ordered that for Dash. Jack-Jack shared.

Soon enough our chef was at our table. She was FABULOUS! So much fun! I took a picture of her cooking

January2010267.jpg

Not ready.....

and she scolded me, light heartedly, of course, because she was not ready for her picture!

January2010268.jpg

Ready!

We all enjoyed the show, but I especially enjoyed watching the boys enjoy the show. They were truly enraptured. She did her onion volcano, and choo choo train, a mickey mouse and I don't remember what else.

Ton o pictures:

The New Yorker Dad had some food allergies, that a manager had come out and spoken to him about before the meal was started. He didn't get all the sauce, I think he missed out on the white sauce, and his food got cooked first. I think he had a dairy allergy. So no butter used in the noodles or mayo, which is in the sauce.

She then cooked the meal for the rest of us, serving each thing as it was ready. Dash got noodles, no veg, Jack-Jack got noodles with veggies and shrimp and chicken and steak! Mr. I and I got the veggies and noodles and shrimp and steak last.

January2010273.jpg

Hungry eyesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss....

January2010274.jpg

Jack-Jack chowed down!

January2010275.jpg

Jack-Jack tried so hard to eat with chopstix. The servers were nice enough to make some for the kids with a rubberband and the wrapper from the chopstix all folded up.

I must say, I was really glad we ate here after all. Even if we could have a similar experience in Austin, it's always better at Disney right? We enjoyed the interaction with the chef and we enjoyed the food immensely. The shrimp were really fresh and well cooked, not chewy or shrimp at all. I loved the white sauce, naturally, since it's probably a heart attack waiting to happen but it was really good. The chef noticed Dash dipping his rice into the ginger sauce so she offered him a laddle full of it on his bowl of rice, which he gladly accepted.

The boys were supposed to just get fruit for dessert but they brought out ice cream because of their birthdays, and everyone sang. They both got Chef's hats, stapled down to fit! Was very sweet.

I ordered the ginger chocolate cake and Mr. Incredible got the green tea pudding. I ate the chocolate mousse part off the top but the cake was kinda gross. I tried Mr. I 's pudding and it was yummy so he let me have the last 1/2. I did enjoy it but it left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. Probably because I don't like green tea.

Continued from previous post!

We settled our bill, after being the last family at the table, since the New Yorkers had skipped dessert. As we walked out, everyone waved and commented on Jack-Jack's monkey. We took the elevator downstairs! I could just see Jack-Jack pitching forward.

While Mr. I retrieved the stroller, I took some pics!

January2010282.jpg

Dash liked the fish!

See the hidden Mickey on the drainage grate?

And of the Epcot ball across the lagoon

We headed to America with the intention of catching the show there. We were about 15 mins before the next showing. The Voices of Liberty were off that day though... but I made sure to ask if they'd be back on Sunday. And they would be! :woohoo:

January2010286.jpg

Loved this quote!

Jack-Jack was getting squirmy and fussy as we were waiting. I was determined to see that show and hoping that maybe he'd fall asleep once we sat down in a dark room.

Mr. Incredible, saw what was going on and offered to take Jack-Jack out of the waiting area and wait outside for us, so Dash and I could watch it on our own. Awwww!!! I asked him if he was sure and he said yes, and I promised that I would do the same for him so he could watch it with his Mom on Sunday.

So we split up and soon enough Dash and I were seated in the auditorium. Love this show, so much. I quietly sang along and got chill bumps as usual. It was very cool for me, as a Mom too, because Dash caught so much more about the history of America than he did the last few trips! :thumbsup2

I had gotten a text before we were seated that Mr. I and Jack-Jack were back in Japan watching the drummers! I was happy for him that he had gotten to see something else cool.

After the show was over, we made our way outside and I immediately called Mr. I, thinking he was in Japan and was talking to him on the phone when I look across the courtyard to see him sitting on a bench looking at me, laughing that I'm talking on the cell to him from 20 feet away. :lmao: Dash has seen him and waved but was standing there with me, not knowing who I was talking to I guess.

January2010287.jpg

Random Epcot shots

January2010288.jpg

One of my faves from the trip

We hit up a FP for KP and picked up the Kimcommunicator in Germany, pretty much immediately. Dash and I did the mission while Mr. I tried to get Jack-Jack to sleep by just pushing him around in a quiet spot. But no go!

The mission was cute but I was kinda miffed that there were so many other people doing missions in Germany at the same time. It kinda ruins it for the kids if they see a kid a step ahead activating something that they haven't gotten to yet.

After we were done, we accepted another mission in Mexico which was where our dinner ressie was. It was hard to believe that much time had passed already but it had. Our ressie was for 6:30pm. We walked pretty much straight to Mexico and worked on the mission. After it was done, we rode the boat ride. I did a little shopping but no buying and Mr. I sat on the bench by the fountains. Jack-Jack had still not had a nap by this point ARGH!!

January2010289.jpg

They both wanted to touch the water!

I asked if we could be seated early at about 6pm and they said no problemo. We got seated at a four top in the middle of the restaurant. The boys were excited to be eating... AGAIN. :scared1: And I was looking forward to a margarita!

January2010292.jpg

Attempted some pics without flash inside San Angel

January2010293.jpg

Trying to decide what to order

The chips and salsa were ok. The kids really enjoyed them but not exactly something Mr. I and I were excited over. Pretty standard stuff. Our margaritas arrived, and they had forgotten to salt mine. Oh well. I can handle a good margarita without salt. I took a sip and about spit it out. And I'm a tequila girl but that drink was nasty. Weak and bitter and I don't know what... but it was gross. We had ordered aps when we ordered our drinks. They arrived shortly after our drinks, with a promise from the waiter he'd be back soon to take our entree orders. I ordered the crab tostados and Mr. I ordered the pork taco. I took a bite of mine and spit it out into a beverage napkin and handed my plate to Mr. I, thinking maybe it was just me. The crab was watery and fishy and tasteless and a bit rancid. He took a bite of his, then a bite of mine and just sat there for a second.

He looked at me and said "Let's go."

:scared1:

Now I am not the kind of person that complains in a restaurant or likes to make a scene. At all. But Mr. I is a restaurant manager and the thing he kept saying was "it's our right". He said that he's had people do it in his restaurant and it's just part of the business. We wouldn't be the first, and we wouldn't be the last. And if the meal was going to continue on the same path that it had started on, neither he nor I were going to be happy with eating there.

I felt awful, but after the food we'd had thus far, I really didn't want to waste more credits there. After quietly talking about it, I agreed but told him that I was taking the boys and leaving while he spoke to the manager. So I did.

Mr. I waited in the sitting area for a chance to speak to the manager privately and out of ear shot of any other diners and explained it to the manager, that the food we'd had and the drinks we'd ordered were all unappetizing and that we'd like to just pay for what we'd ordered already and leave. The manager apologized and said no, that he would take care of it. They talked shop for a bit. Mr. I said that the manager didn't act all the surprised or upset by it. We found out later that not only did he not charge us for our credits, he credited us 3 extra back. Whether he did it intentionally, we don't know.

I felt bad, but was relieved to not have to eat there after the bites we'd had.

It was about 6:30pm and we had to figure out what was for dinner. We made our way to the babycare center and got Jack-Jack changed. He had spilled his Spirte all down his outfit during dinner attempt #1. I got on Mr. I's cell cus mine doesn't have alpha numeric dialing, and called WDW Dine. We didn't have park hoppers so we had to eat at either Epcot, DTD or a resort. We discussed all the other Epcot restaurants that were left but decided to try for 'Ohana. I thought Poly would be easy to get to from Epcot with the monorail and I had been worried about how late our ressie was on our last night, that maybe we'd be too tired and just cancel. I was excited about the possibilty of eaten there earlier in the week, to avoid missing it all together, as I feared would happen.

We'd had such good luck getting into ADRs all week, I thought it was worth a shot.

And we were told they were totally booked. :sad2:

Oh well, worth a try. I asked about Kona instead, somewhere we'd never eaten before. The CM could get us an 8:30pm ressie. Done!

We headed out of Epcot and onto the monorail. A quick ride later, we got off at the TTC and asked directions to the walk way to the Poly. Jack-Jack had still not had a nap and we both knew that he needed one before we attempted dinner #2. Mr. Incredible squated down in front of Jack-Jack's stroller and said "Ok buddy, it's time to take a ni-ni ok?" Jack-Jack shook his head yes, and we laid his stroller seat back and pulled the sun cover over him so he couldn't see anything to distract him and Jack-Jack was asleep before we could get to the Poly walkway. :lmao:

After getting lost.... :rolleyes1 and asking directions again, we finally made it to the ceremonial house. I decided it couldn't hurt to ask the hostess at 'Ohana about getting in. Not that I didn't want to try Kona, but I reallllly wanted to have some flexibilty with our last evening and not have to give up 'Ohana. Sure enough.... the hostess told me that she could get us in within 2 hrs..... TWO HOURS!!! I took the pager and went to discuss it with Mr. I.

Our ressie for Kona was in an hour. Jack-Jack was still asleep and we were enjoying relaxing in the beautiful lobby .....

So Mr. I and I decided to sit down in the waiting area and just wait and see what happened first... If our 'Ohana buzzer went off first we'd eat there, if our Kona ressie came first, we'd eat there.

:rolleyes1

Up next:

Would our buzzer beat our Kona ADR time??? Would we like the food wherever we ended up?

Stay tuned!!!!

I am glad you enjoyed Teppan Edo!

Great pictures of the EPCOT ball from the different vantage points around World Showcase!

I am sorry San Angel Inn wasn't good I have not heard many good things about that place

I hope you enjoy the food wherever you end up eating!

I ordered the crap tostados

I'm not sure if this was a typo or a pun, but either way it's hilarious!! :rotfl2:

Wow, I guess your experience at San Angel even crushes our hopes of getting only drinks and appetizers there to experience the ambiance, but not have a bad food experience! Yuck!

Onto better food! So, guess what? We did have the same chef at Teppan Edo! She was fun, wasn't she? Funny to see pictures of her making your meal the week before ours! Glad you had a good experience there. Even with chatty dad next to you. My uncle who lives in Austin always made it clear to us that Austin is very different than much of the rest of Texas. :)

Cool for ending up at the Poly for dinner attempt #2. Anxious to hear which came up first...both were great experiences for us. Looking forward to more!

i'm also giggling about the crap tostados! Excellent update - sorry your experience in Mexico sucked, but at least it meant an extra trip to the Poly

I was wandering what you thought of San Angel. We are not complainers at all and really have liked all the places we have tried at WDW (of course some more than others). But we did San Angel for the first time in August 2009 and I really did not like it at all, I think I had 2 bites of the whole meal. YUCK!!

Whats funny I had booked it many times and then ended up canceling after reading reviews on here, Oh well now I know for myself that I just dont like it.

:lmao: This happens to us too, people seem to think we still ride around in covered wagons fighting Indians  Nope, we have electricity, running water and everything! Geez people!

The pictures of Jack-Jack trying to use his chopsticks are too cute! It looks like he is actually doing a better job than I do........

San Angel Inn - you just validated my decision to NEVER eat there! The atmosphere looks so neat, but I don't want to eat crap ( ;) ) food to experience it :thumbsup2

I tend to bribe with privileges when we're at home. Treats when we're out. Not leaving him locked in the hotel room all day is usually a good incentive. :rolleyes1

I'm glad the pics worked!! I can't wait to see the pics from y'all's trip!

I'm glad we enjoyed Teppan Edo, too! I've been craving something like it but am scared to try a Japanese Steakhouse in the Austin area, cus I know it won't be as good! :sad2:

San Angel... Poor San Angel. When I was growing up, we'd always eat there because my mom loved the atmosphere... we could always find something we liked enough to eat there to at least enjoy the ambience. Now... not so much.

I'm glad you're enjoying the pics!!

It was a typo... I guess I type crap more often than crab and my fingers went on autopilot, but sadly, it was a very approproiate unintentional pun!

Sorry to crush your hopes. I'm hoping and praying it was just a bad day for them. I too wanted to get apps and drinks in the bar one of these days, sans kids. But it's gonna take a lot to get Mr. I to try eating there again.

I thought that was the same chef! I peeked at your update last night before I typed mine out. That's too funny!! She was AWESOME! Loved her.

I think it's funny that your uncle says the same thing about Austin!! We Austinites must stick together!

i'm also giggling about the crap tostados! Excellent update - sorry your experience in Mexico sucked, but at least it meant an extra trip to the Poly

Glad I amused you my twinnie. Lord knows I've made worse pun/typos before. I typed s&it on a counter one time instead of sit on a counter. Not good.

It did mean an extra trip to Poly. Was so excited about that outcome.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that thought it was YUCK! We booked and cancelled many times before. In fact, this time it was Mr. I that I let pick the remaining Dining Credit we had left, before we upgraded to Deluxe. And he picked San Angel dinner. I might have said I told you so, Might have.

You mean you don't still have a covered wagon?

:scared1:

All my visions of Oklahoma just went sweeping down the plains with the wind....

*ahem*

NEVER eat there! Ok... well not in a long time. UGH!

No one wants to eat crap tostados, tacos, nachos... anything.

:sad2:
