Longhorn Steakhouse

We enjoy Longhorn. We probably eat there a few times a year. We prefer it over Texas Roadhouse, but we don’t dislike TR either.

What's the reason for the question though? Gift card maybe? Going out with friends?

I think with the Longhorn gift card, it gets access to all other Darden restaurants.

The one with the most variety is Landry's.

As far as getting a steak goes, I'm not sure I really need a steakhouse per se. I've gotten good enough steaks at steakhouses or even places like Dave & Buster's.

We prefer our local Outback over the local Longhorn. Both are about 15 to 20 minutes away and 1/2 mile apart. . Plus we are part of the Blonmin Brands reward program (incl. Outback, Carrabba's and Bonefish) so after 3 visits we get up to $20.00 off our next order of food.
A PP asked about reservations, I think they have await list that you can get on thru their Website or the App. I use it at Olive Garden and they are part of the same company.

My son loves the Wild West Shrimp so we go occasionally. He will get an order or two for his meal and not share a single shrimp.

I've never heard of Longhorns. I looked, the closest one to me is about 3 hours away.

Another Darden chain restaurant. I had to look it up, but the closest one to my home is in Southern California. Olive Garden is Darden's big one, but Red Lobster used to be another. Being a chain doesn't have to be bad. Darden's Yard House chain is really good, although they're logo is kind of meh.

I love their poke nachos!

These?

I've had them. They were part of their half off appetizers during happy hour. Not tortilla chips though, but deep fried wonton skin triangles. Kind of reminiscent of crab rangoon - at least the crispiness. Definitely fusion cuisine with the wonton skins, seaweed, avocado, chili peppers, etc.

We’ve never been and I’d like to, but the wait is always GINORMOUS, so we leave. I don’t have the patience to wait 60+ minutes
A few people here have said this. The busiest one we ever went to was in Kissimmee. Every table was full, and service was slow. We had never seen it like that. Thankfully our local one isn’t like that, it’s hardly ever very busy with the exception, maybe, of dinnertime late in the week. We tend to go at off times, so there’s hardly ever a wait.

I like Longhorn, but don't get there as often since I've moved. Used to be 10 minutes or less from the house, now my nearest one is almost 45 minutes away.

DH used to get the salmon, or the sirloin; I usually get the ribeye. It's a good piece of meat, not the paper thin one that Logan's seems to have. I used to swap the salad for a cup of soup, haven't tried that here yet.

TX Roadhouse isn't bad, either - but it's "looser" than Longhorn. It's louder, more casual, and there's usually more family groups and "drink & snack" tables than Longhorn.

I think it can be a little bit pricey compared to some other places, but not really, nowadays, since most restaurants have also raised their prices. I think the value is good - the warm bread and butter, the salad, and the pretty large entree with a side. It’s all pretty filling.

I agree with a pp, I love the sweet potato with butter and cinnamon sugar. I usually get the NY Strip, but often take half of it home for lunch the next day, so I can get two meals out of one. I also like the French Onion Soup.

For appetizers we have gotten the blooming onion, and the stuffed mushrooms, and both were good. Once in a while four of us will share a molten lava cake (because DS is a chocoholic) and it is delish, too.

We have a Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse down the street from each other. There's always a line at TR, never a line at Longhorn.

We like Longhorn. We tend to get their Renegade Sirloin, it's a good value for the meal overall. The Chocolate Stampede for dessert is really good but is either a split dessert situation or for 2 night's worth.

We do also like Texas Roadhouse but haven't been in a bit. It can be loud and chaotic I agree on that. We do like their bread and cinnamon butter.

Outback has been mentioned, we actually rarely like really rarely go there. In fact we had been sitting on a gift card for IDK at least 5+ years and finally decided to use it a few weekends ago. I had the Pineapple and Pork Medallions which were quite good. For dessert my husband and I had the Butter Cake and we found that to be a good price and good. Mother-in-law had the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under and it was too rich and not amazing, my husband and I agreed not worth the price.

I'd say we used to go with the in-laws to Texas Roadhouse more often in the past but I feel like we've switched to Longhorn. Both places are equally as busy though and have generally always been. Outback is okay but I'd say we enjoy Longhorn over Outback.

Presently all are struggling with staffing and service is slow, story of the restaurant's lives these days.

**We are not steak pros here so we don't tend to order very high priced steaks, in-laws do tend to order higher priced though I don't think they are steak pros either.

I was at one in Melbourne, FL two weeks ago. It was fine for what it was, a chain steakhouse. Steak was pretty good, but nothing phenomenal. If I had a choice I'd rather go to Texas Roadhouse but I wouldn't cause a scene if a group wanted to go there. Flo's Filet is what I had.

Like any other chain, location dependent. I've had one of the worst meals I've ever had at a Longhorn and I've had some of the best meals in other locations.

They can cook a steak and make a decent old fashioned so we go there once in a while.

I actually have 2 equal distance from me and both have always been good.

When I go to visit my sister, a Longhorn and Outback are literally across the street from each other. We go to whichever one has fewer cars in the parking lot when we want to dine. We have had good service and good food at both. I almost always get some sort of steak (ribeye is my favorite).

I don’t go out to eat unless I am on vacation.
