Hi DisBoards!

It has been a long time since myast cruise. I have done a 3 night on the wonder as a high schooler with my mom and then a 3 night when the Dream first sailed. Now we are planning a 3 night on the magic. I found an answer to some of my questions, but was unable to find answers to these - maybe you could help!

1) Last time I cruised we had a guaranteed room, but we were upgraded. When I log into see my upcoming cruise, it appears we were automatically assigned a room number already. Does this mean no chance for a upgrade? No big deal, just wondering.

2) Last cruise my oldest was under 3 and we only used the nursery. Now I have 2 kids both old enough to go to the kids clubs. I see they have magic bands for those now. Can you pay to keep these? Does anyone know how much?

DCL can upgrade anyone at anytime but usually once you have an assigned cabin its yours. It has happened that people were reassigned to a different cabin but usually that is rare. If DCL really needed your cabin for whatever reason then they would move you...upgrade you who knows. Upgrades in general are rare.

The kids club bands must be turned in on the last night or you are charged a substantial amount (don't know the exact amount but pretty sure it is over $50). Not sure why you would want to keep it....can't be used anywhere else.

Our first cruise..april 2014 we did not return the kids club band...my son wanted it as a souvenir...I do not remember the exact cost but it was under $20. Our second cruise we returned it.

The old, big chunky bands were really expensive. The new bands, that look like the Magic bands you get at Walt Disney World, I believe are around $15 if you want to keep them. You put down the deposit at the beginning of the cruise and if you don't return it you just forfeit the deposit. We did this and just kept the bands.

The kids club bands that they have now are $12.95. The amount is automatically charged to your room at the beginning of the cruise. If you turn it in the amount is taken off.

Thanks for clarifying my incorrect cost post above. I knew they cost something if you didn't return them and I thought it was more. Maybe I am thinking of the wave phones.

Yep.

Before the new bands, it was quite expensive if you didn't turn them in. You're remembering correctly, just didn't realize it had changed in the last year or so! :)

It was $12.50 per Magic Band that the kids had. You can return it on the last night of the Cruise...otherwise, you'd have to return it on Debarkation day or they simply charge you $12.50 per Magic Band.
