Long Term Price increase in DVC??

I bought three contracts total about 4-6 years ago, and paid less than $63 per point to do it. Now, I look at Saratoga Springs and ask myself, "Self, would you pay $95 per point for your DVC?"

I can appreciate the "sticker shock" of some folks who were lucky enough to buy early in the game. Unfortunately when OKW first went on sale I was 22 yrs old, working my way through school making $5.50 per hour.

We first discovered DVC when the price was $74 per point. Unfortunately we still weren't in a position to buy. The price subsequently went up a couple of times. But when SSR pre-sales started at $79 per point, we simply couldn't refuse.

To people discovering DVC for the first time, it still makes sense. When you can run the numbers (flawed though they may be) and come up with a breakeven point of 5-7 years, it's impossible to simply discount DVC as a "cash cow."

I just paid off my DVC...mainly because the ROFR appears to be right around what I paid for it and because the cash was available. But there is no way I'd buy it now, not at $95 a point. I'd just as soon look for sales, rent points or go somewhere else.

Your story reminds me of my grandfather. He refuses to pay $2.15 for a gallon of gas so he sits at home by himself.
