Long term airport parking

How secure are the far out economy lots at airports, specifically PIA. My dh has to go away for business for three days. He can take his work truck to the airport and leave it there for a reasonable fee that his company will cover. But his truck has many tools in it. Or I can drive him 1.5 hrs each way to and pick him up. Gas and tolls will be more. The PIA site says the lot has 24hr a day patrol by Phila. police. We have never left our car in the airport. Any tips?

My dad has always left his car in the long term lot, and he travels at least 5-6 times a year on business or pleasure. As far as I know, he's never had any issues parking in the lot. I used to work for an airline out of Dulles Int'l airport, and I never heard any stories about people's cars getting broken into. Can he leave his tools at home? That might make it a little safer, or at least put them well out of sight. Best of luck!

DH travels 2-3 times a month, usually 1-4 days, sometimes 2 weeks.
He always leaves his car at a lot near the airport (this is Seattle).
Never had a problem.

Have parked for extended periods at O'Hare Airport and never had a problem with a car. Now a truck with tools in the back might be something different. Why not just take the tools out, then there would be nothing to steal.

We have no garage or spare room. This van is filled with tools. Some of them are semi-attached to the vehicle. I wish we could remove the tools. If he takes the truck I will try to get him to do a photo tool inventory to be safe. It will take me easily 4 hours each trip to pick him up and drop him off. I really don't want to do this if I can avoid it. I am considering off site parking as I have heard it is more secure. Or we might pay the upgrade for indoor parking, although i'm not really sure if that would be more secure.

I agree, a truck with tools is just and invitation to get robbed. Take the tools out. Since it is a company truck, can the tools be left at the place of business rather than you trying to find some place for them at home?

Does the company have anything to say about leaving the truck in airport parking for a few days?
