Morning folks!

We are arriving on the 16th May for an 18 night WDW experience, and cannot wait. Having recently purchased DVC ownership at OKW, this will be our 1st trip as owners. Happy days!

BUT, haha, having checked the long range weather forecast for this period, it is showing wall to wall cloudy conditions and frequent heavy rain/thunderstorms! Having been to Florida many times in May, we've only ever had great weather...so seeing that was a shock to the system lol.

So I guess my question is how accurate are these long range forecasts in fellow Disney lovers opinion? Have you used them, gone, and then they turn out to be wrong?!

Of course, we'll have a great time anyway...just don't want a rain mack on in Typhoon Lagoon! Lol

Anything more than a few days out is subject to change however as they have just had 4 days of pretty much nothing but rain it could be possible.

Most likely you will have sun with some afternoon showers which isn't unheard of in May.

Honestly, in my experience I've found them not accurate at all.

Florida weather is so unpredictable that even the 5 day weather channel forecast constantly changes! And generally I've found that the long term forecast will say that there is a chance of rain (well yes, it's Florida lol) every day between June and September. When you arrive though you usually find that it's about a 30% chance of rain every hour of the day, which usually results in a daily thunderstorm and that's about it.

The only time we have been hideously unlucky with the weather was the first two weeks in June 2012 when it rained almost solidly for ten full days. You'd have to be pretty unlucky to experience that though.

And when the forecast says it will be cloudy, that's actually sometimes a blessing as the sun can be very hot on clear days!

Oh you just got me all excited about Weather on the ones!

Also not unheard of to be sunbathing at the resort pool while a bus pulls up offloading 30 guests, soaked to the bone from a torrential downpour at MK :upsidedow

I am slightly freaking out about the weather I've been driving my husband mad going on about it all day. We go the 19th
Really hope it's better than the outlook says :-/

My aunty is out there now and said it has been very mixed. We are leaving on the 19th May and we are planning for the odd afternoon shower which will give us a good excuse to shop :thumbsup2

Whenever we've been before in July/August we've always had torrential downpours in the afternoon that last 1-2 hours nothing more. However a friend went in May 3 years ago and it's was a washout. I'm really hoping it's just an afternoon downpour and nothing more. After the winter we had in the UK I am SICK of rain!

Counting down to 14th May!

predicting weather in Florida, more than a couple of days ahead, is more crystal ball and cards reading than science.

We just arrived yesterday to brilliant sunshine but I have Ben following the weather on the BBC weather app. While the "front" page gives you the days high and low and says rain cloud or thunder etc if you swipe through it then gives you what it will be like at 2/3 hourly intervals so gives you an idea of when the rain will be. Sunshine and 32/33 for the next four or five days.

I was there too,it was the edge of a tropical storm, but we have been in May twice previous to that and the weather was lovely, with just showers in the late afternoon.
I wouldn't look too deeply into the forecast past a couple of days:)
Theres a weather channel we used to watch whilst in Orlando (can't remember its name) and we used to go off that.

We go on 20th. I always stress about the weather. One of the reasons we decided on May was our timeshare weeks are March and last couple of years the weather has been on the colder side. At the end of the day we can't change it. I'd rather puddle dashing in a poncho than umbrella dodging over here.
