London and Ireland??

My husbands grandfather came from Ireland and apparently have some ancient lineage or something like that. Is it super hard to go places out of the way? His family name comes from county Leitrim or so the history books say. I would like to find a place to stay around there and do some exploring, but we have never been out of the country so not sure what to do?

Dublin is Ireland's "big city" like New York is in the States. Going to Dublin is not seeing the real Ireland. You have go into the countryside and meet the people to see the friendliness of the people and the beauty of the countryside. It is an entirely different world from Dublin. Two days in Dublin using the on-off bus will show you all sites. The food in Dublin is mostly international cuisine which rivals New York's. In the countryside the fish is outstanding. My grandparents came from Ireland and kidney pie or stew is a native dish more than corned beef and cabbage.
