We have a 7:20 flight out of logan, boston saturday morning on american airlines. Has anyone flown out recently and can give me an idea of how smooth or horrible the experience was? We are stayong at nearby hotel with 24 hur shuttle service friday night

My husband and I flew out of Logan in Feb. on a Sturday on an 8am Delta flight. Our daught-in-law, who works for Delta out of Green in RI told us to get there 3 hours before our flight. We needed that time. We only sat at the gate for 15 min. before boarding. The security lines were hundreds of yards long. We are going to CA to visit our daughter this week and have opted to leave on the Friday rather than Saturday because of the lines we encountered. The security is very throurough and will take some time. I would get there early if I were you and just grab a coffee and relax before your flight. The flights were so much cheaper out of Logan and that is why we are leaving from there. In May I will be flying out of Green, but their security lines are also very long. So much so that they are now opening them an hour earlier than before.
Have a great trip and don't stress about the lines, just relax and go with the flow.

Thanks, don't think i could ever get there three hours prior. that would be 4am. We were thinking 5am to leave the hotel so get there by 5:15. That may not be enough time. we are flying out of logan because our flight from green was cancelled and this was the only available saturday morning fllight. We are returning to green though as boston is over two hours from home.

You may not be aware of some changes to the terminals at Logan that are increasing security times. American Airlines is in Terminal B. At this time Delta Shuttle is moving from A to B (this is so they can start demolishing A for the new terminal). This means you now have an additional airline that will be going through security. The good thing is that this is the Shuttle so there may not be as much use as there would be during the week with business passengers. However, you are dealing with school vacation crowds.

We fly out on Sunday at 2:45pm and are arriving at the airport at around 11:45am. We are flying Delta Express and according to the Delta website the wait times at Logan during peak (you too are flying in peak times) are 1 hour for check-in and 1 1/2 hours for security.

Just an FYI.

I have friends that fly frequently out of Logan........3 hours prior to flying is about right. Anything less than that you are at risk. Between the terminals changing and the forever traffic situation........the earlier you are the better off you'll. Good luck! ~Joy

Thanks i guess we better plan on getting there for 4:15 am. we are staying at the holiday inn at logan and using there 24/hour shuttle service. Usually don't sleep well the night before anyways so we'll be awake anyways. Any hints as to what not to carry etc to speed things along?
