Does anyone recall what type of lock is on the balcony door at SSR? My 2 yr ds has become quite the Houdini. We've had to add a higher lock on our own sliding door at home. I seem to recall there being more than one lock on the balcony door somewhere, but I'm not sure if it was at SSR. This was never a concern with my other kids. I just don't want to wake up to any surprises. Thanks!

Hopefully someone can show you a picture for sure, but IIRC there was a lock up high on the door. If you don't get a definite answer, I know one step ahead sells suction-cup door stoppers (heck maybe even a regular suction cup of some sort would work!) that will prevent a slider from opening.

There was only one lock on our door at SSR. It was a twist type lock at the same level as the handle. The lock was a little tricky to open and the door seemed to be extremely heavy for a two year old to open even if they got it unlocked.

I seem to recall there were 2 locks. I was having trouble opening the door, and DD said "open the other lock Mom". DUH

Last week we were in a studio and had 2 locks on the door. My mom and DS9 had a hard time opening the door so I had to help them. One is a regular twist lock, similar to what you'd find on a deadbolt lock (almost eye level, and I'm 5'2"), and above that is another lock that flips to the left or right. It's a hook-type lock when you look at the lock itself on the side of the door, and you can see how it hooks into the door frame when you flip it toward the frame. That 2nd flip lock is a few inches above the other.

I think you'll be ok with your Houdini being contained in your room.

We just got back from SSR and there were definitely two locks on our sliding doors. One was about 2-3" above the other and they were both too high for a 2-year old to reach. I agree with the other poster, the doors are heavy and, my guess is they are too heavy for a toddler to open.

Have fun!

Deb
