Location request at OKW

Sorry to butt in on OPs question!

But where would you suggest would be best to request for a couple in there 50s want to be near a quiet pool and a bus stop if possible??

I've never been to the resort but want to pop in a request for mum and dad :)

Buildings 17,18 & 19 in Millers are ideally located near a bus stop, a quiet pool and are no more than 5min walk from Hospitality House.
It's the location we always request.:thumbsup2

Requests unfortunately are just that - I am not sure whether they read them or not at OKW however I have always been able to move to something I am happy with on check in.

Well, that is good to know anyway. I am just worried about being in a dedicated 2 bed as that's not what we have in mind. Just hoping more people want those type, rather than a 'lock off' iyswim.

Samaya - thanks for that info. I knew they split up studios/1 beds if necessary but I wasn't sure if there were any dedicated 2 beds which we could end up with - hopefully not.

I don't think I'm going to be very popular when requesting location as not only are we looking at location i.e. near bus stop (but not too near), near HH, not too near main road, but also building type too :lmao:. You get my drift ;).... :rotfl:

There are more dedicated 2 bedrooms that lock-offs. The lock-off inventory is also reduced by the number of units booked as one bedrooms and studios. Therefore the chances are higher of you getting a dedicated unit than a lock off.

You may need to decide what is more important to you - a lock off or location as chances are you may not get both.

All rooms are close to a bus stop so I wouldn't use that in your request.

To be honest, the request thing was a bit tongue in cheek as we wouldn't ask for both ;). The lock off would be VERY important to us and tbh could make or break the holiday. There is no way DH will want to be sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge (with me obviously) and have my parents just able to walk in and out at any point, especially if we stay onsite for 2 weeks, or even the whole 3 weeks. It makes me nervous requesting a lock off but it not being guaranteed. But I would imagine the price difference is huge on 2 x 1 beds. I guess we won't know for sure until the 2015 deals come out.

My concern, if we did book, was that they didn't have one when we arrived. I guess, worst case, we could move into a dedicated 2 bed then ask to be notified when a lock off comes available and move....

Well you nicer to your kids than we are to our DD! She always gets the living room lol We have the master bed room.

You might be better looking at SSR and booking a one bed for you and a studio for your parents. The studios at SSR have a bed a sleeper sofa which might be nicer for them. That what we have booked for my inlaws this summer.

When you arrive they might be able to give you next door units anyway.

If it was going to be make or break for a holiday I would book the separate rooms. I think 2 one beds would be overkill really too.

Thanks for info Elise. I have kind of talked myself into OKW, SSR isn't doing it as much for me. I think my parents would be happy in a studio at OKW as they have a balcony (albeit small but OK for two) also, they'll only use one bed so the other can be a kind of chaise longue :rolleyes1. If we did get a lock off we'd all use the living area during the day anyway (when not out and about). It's more for the evening for the reasons I mentioned.

You're the second person to tell me we are too generous to our kids :lmao:. But the way I see it is, if the girls are asleep in the bedroom, it gives us peace/downtime in the lounge with access to the balcony/kitchen area. I don't fancy being stuck in the bedroom (and I know it has balcony access) while they sleep in the lounge ;). Having said that, one night on that sofa bed and I may change my mind :lmao:.

I'm a bit worried after reading that in the older units there is only 1 entrance to the bathroom which is through the master bedroom so would have to try and request buildings 30 and higher, we will be 4 adults in the 1 bed, has anybody stayed in the 1 bed with 2 other adults and if so how did you find it? :confused3

We stayed in a one bed last year with our two adult children, 20 & 18. We requested 30 or higher for the same reason. It worked OK but bit awkward, as there's still two entrances to the part of the bathroom where the loo is, so you had to remember to lock/unlock both doors. To be honest we found the worst thing was the shower & loo being in the same bathroom, if you're splitting a bathroom in two, put two loos in or at least separate loo & shower:confused3

Having said that it was a fabulous villa, plenty big enough for 4 adults. Lounge area is plenty big enough to leave sofa bed up, we re-arranged room slightly to make this easier specially as we used chair bed too. It's great having access to balcony from bedroom as some mornings we sat & chilled there whilst kids still in bed!

We loved OKW and would definitely go back :thumbsup2

Thank you for your reply, we will have to hope we get the room we want, I thought about if we had 2 doors having to remember to lock them both! I looked at the price of 2 studios instead but it's about an extra £1200! :rolleyes2

Think you'll enjoy 1 bed much more, when we travelled with friends and had seperate rooms it wasn't so sociable. I think they're pretty good at honouring the 30+ request! I think a lot more people request near HH and if I was travelling with young children I would too. We didn't list any other requests to improve our chances. Mind you I spent ages weighing up the pros & cons of each area and decided not to worry about it in the end in case we didn't get the area we wanted. & were disappointed. Is it Oct you're going? Doubt the resort will be that busy so I'm sure you'll be fine.:goodvibes

We're on a cruise for the 1st time this year so back to being a 'newbie', planning is completely different:scared1:

Wow, that sounds fab! Yep we are going 30th Oct to get both the Halloween & Christmas seasons, loved it last time! Should we do our request through Disney as we have booked the package through them?

It's a lovely time to go and I'll be at OKW myself from 10th November :goodvibes

I just wanted to add that 'close to Hospitality House' is a booking category for DVC members because that area is popular for the reasons you have identified. However, as you want a villa from 30 upwards, that should be okay but does take you further away from HH of course.

I do agree with a PP who said it would have made sense to put an additional loo in the bathroom area of the 1 bedroom units - it's not like there's not room - it's a big bathroom you walk through to get to the shower room with loo :confused3
Maybe one day .......

We booked via Disney too, I requested when I did on-line check-in. We loved Halloween & Christmas too, would like to do Christmas time again as it's nearly 10 yrs since we did that.:)

Hi thank you for your replies and I will make a note to request the room at online check in! :thumbsup2 bit gutted as this will be the last time we will be able to go for the christmas season (until we retire)! We both work for the same company and are no longer able to take holidays in November/December! Will have to stock up on my Xmas yankee candles & bath & body works goodies!
