Have one?

Not a supermarket style one but a real one that makes EVERYTHING!!

Donuts, bread, pastries, cakes etc.

Yep It's across town. LOVE their breads! I remember going there as a kid with my great grandmother every Sunday for Rye Bread and getting a cupcake for breakfast.

Yes, yes, yes!

We have a place near us called Sweet Creations. They make AWESOME huge sweet rolls!!! Haven't had much else there. I am glad this place is about 6 miles away in a direction we don't often go:lmao:

We also have another place about the same distance away, but a different direction called Cake & Bake. They are more cakes, cupcakes cookies. But have a huge selection of candy/chocolate making supplies, as well as many freezers that have "take 'n bake" items. Their holiday open house is in a few weeks, this is a "must-do" with our family. What great ideas, super samples. MMMM.

The only thing I can say is "I Wish". We haven't had a local bakery since I was in grade school and that was over 35 years ago.

We have a local bakery, they don't do donuts but they do cakes, cookies, pastries, soups, sandwiches and my favorite - chocolate bread. It's called Two Sisters and it's wonderful. The cakes are sorta dry but everything else is really good.

Lots of them! I go to different ones, depending if I want good bread, or amazing cakes, cannolli's - although even our shoprite has a real bakery section, where you can get this and that, behind the glass. We also have cafe's, with yummy espresso and latte's, gelato, and a bunch of little Italian men sitting around, watching Italian television!:goodvibes

Sadly, our local bakery closed about a year ago. Things haven't been the same since. :sad1:
I guess they couldn't keep up with the 5 supermarket bakeries in a town of 16,000.
I really miss their donuts though.:sad1:

Our town bakery burned down everal years ago :(

Another tried to open, but they were just awful. The best we have now is Walmart. I occasionally bake my own bread from scratch, but it's lots cheaper to by the French or Italian bread at Walmart.

Haven't had one for years. Around here, the bakeries don't make enough money to stay in business.

We have several. They all have very good products. However, I still prefer the bakery from my hometown and will often talk my sister into getting something from there and bring it to our house when we have some sort of celebration.

We have several and they're great. One has the best crumb cake in the world.

Yep. I go there once a year for our stocking gingerbread boys and girls.... Whenever I'm there, I pledge to go more often -- the cakes and cookies look amazing. But then, it's suddenly Christmas time again and I haven't been back.

Maybe I'll go this week and get a loaf of bread -- they've got some great varieties!

Back home, we've got 2. One is one that I would go to for breads, rolls, all that stuff. The other is the one I go to for cakes, although they do breads too, just not as many. Both have cafes too, with soups and sandwiches and all. I love the Crusty French bread, and have as long as I can remember!

we do and my husband works there!! Great old fashioned scratch bakery that still makes their custard over a double boiler, not out of a bucket :sad2:

Yes we do. However, the best baker I know is right in my own household. My husband LOVES to bake. Real cinnamon rolls, cannolis (with real ricotta filling), cookies, breads, the list goes on. I am a very lucky woman!

I'm going to have to disagree with the crumb cake - people line up on Sunday mornings at one of the bakeries here - the crumb layer is thicker than the cake! :goodvibes

Okay, what else would be in a cannoli? They're very plentiful here, but I'm an odd one out who doesn't care for them very much.

we are lucky to have 2 genuine italian bakeries - cannolis, italian rum birthday cakes, pastries, rainbow cookies, charlotte russe - all and more!

Yes! Swan's Bakery has got THE BEST cakes because they make their own buttercream icing! MMMMMM! Their hard rolls are so delicious as well.

Frosting, as in cake frosting. Some use a buttercream with mini chocolate chips. Blech! IMO
