Lobster Roll.........Columbia Harbour House

Have had some wonderful lobster rolls at WDW (Food & Wine and Captain's Grill) but the one at CHH ........ it was so bad I didn't finish and threw it away. ALOT of mayo and bread. I don't throw away food lightly, disappointed.

Okay ....yeah -that is NOT a lobster roll.

It's not the best we've ever had but it's good. Ours certainly never looked like the one in the picture! We stop at CHH at least once every trip and get one.

It's a nice option. It's not the best Disney food nor the worst. If you get a table upstairs by the window it can be a pleasant experience!

Whoa, that's a lot of mayo!

I had the F&W roll several times and thought it was really good but I've never had the real thing.

I completely understand where the New Englanders are coming from. I spent a week at POFQ and ate in the food court several times and, uhm, no. Please, please don't judge Cajun/Creole by what WDW dishes up.

And to Yankee chefs everywhere-you can't make a stew, dump it on a pile of rice and call it jambalaya. It may be very tasty but it's not jambalaya.

And real beignets don't weigh 1/2 a pound either!

Now I'm hungry!

This also was my experience with the lobster roll at CHH: tons of mayo and a dense block of bread. Other options, especially the lighthouse sandwich and the salmon, appeal more to me.

So I can understand New Englanders not being pleased with a CHH Lobster Roll.

We just ate at CHH yesterday for lunch and my husband ordered the lobster roll. He is not particularly picky but he wasn't a fan. My grilled salmon and my sons fried shrimp platter were much better. Way too much mayo, cold bread and lots of celery. YUCK!

I definitely echo the New Englander's cry of 'that's not a lobster roll!' but mine was definitely not as drowned in mayo as that picture!! It was good, not great...but in the world of QS offerings I can definitely see how it shines. I too felt it had a little too much celery (/celery salt) for my tastes but it certainly wasn't bad. I've just had better authentic NE lobster rolls. I'm glad I tried it but would not go out of my way to get it again.

I wasn't a fan, and my wife hated it. We're both huge fans of CHH, and love lobster rolls so much that she brought one home on a plane for me from Maine once, but the roll at CHH wasn't very good.

Here's mine from 2013:

Too much green, not enough lobster.

agree I have no desire to have the CHH "lobster roll." This is what they look like in New England:

JUST enough mayo, huge chunks of lobster. yumyum can't wait til the church starts having them again!

Mmmmmmm. I almost drooled on my keyboard.

I guess if you are from the New England states, you have a different idea of a lobster roll. And that is great for them. But I love the one at the Columbia Harbor House.

We tried a few in the New England states while vacationing there, and they all were loaded with mayo - turned us off - don't care for them at all - ate our whole boiled lobsters from the pounds instead - love the 'taste' of lobster, not just mayo.

I have tried it and it was ok. It didn't look like the first picture posted here.

That is a big difference. But not everyone has access to fresh lobster, so I don't fault someone for ordering it because depending where you're from -it might be your only chance to have one. Disney could step it up a bit by making it look like it actually might have real lobster in the sandwich....
