Ok so I know I have friends on this site that will read this so thats why i am posting this here.

My family travels to Disney every year since I was 15 (i'm now 30). Well on my first trip I wanted to buy something for my sister since she is 2 years older and very special to me. So I purchased a pick-a-pearl from Japan! She picked it and it was great. Well my mother kept them and each year she did this unsure of what I was going to do with them although I knew. I was going to have them put into a necklace for her to wear on her wedding day.

Well when all was said and done, I had about 23 pearls including trips that she and I took on special occassions or fast trips the 2 of us made. I had the necklace made and cried when I saw it since it was absolutely what I wanted. On one trip I even had my mother do the pick-a-pearl and she picked one that actually had 2 pearls in one oyster which is extremely rare! Well I gave it to her on her wedding and gave my mother her "twins" as we called them that I had made into earings. The wedding was beautiful and she looked wonderful. Each of my sisters 4 brothers had a song to dance with her and mine was True Colors from the old film they played before Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

Well less than 1 year later her house was robbed and they took the safe that held that piece of jewlery and my grandmothers rosary. CAn you believe it! It just angers me so much.

I am glad to say that the jewler did not use all of the pearls needed so I still have some to make another necklace which she will get in a few years. I still work for Disney and love doing the pick-a-pearl but now she will have a new necklace and my niece and God-daughter will also get a new necklace at her wedding when she is old enough.

No robber can steal our memories!

One connection to DCL is that I did get 1 pearl from the cruise that was not used so it will be used in the new necklace.

THanks for letting me vent. I don't want my sister to know how bad I feel and she does not go to this site, atleast I dont think so!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I was burglurized once. It was the eve of my grandfathers funeral. My sister and I had spent an exhausting day sorting everything, which wasnt much. I only wanted the family bible in Norwegian and my mom's (she had passed too) cat eye glasses. Sis and I didnt want to sleep in the house since everyone had died there (1 for each of three years in a row) so we went to our cousin's house. We returned the next morning before the funeral to find that the house had been broken in. Of course the bible, eye glasses and letters written in Norwegian along with the TV and stuff we didnt care about was gone. It was such a feeling of helplessness. I feel your pain. I am glad you still have some perals left and wont let the robbers get you down.

JMHO, but I think you should share with your sister how you're feeling. It's very sweet that you did this for her, and I'd bet she is feeling bad and doesn't want to say anything to you! So sorry that this happened...

Adam, there are really no words that can help, but I am so sorry this happened to your family.
Karma will come back to those who did this.
I am sending you a cyber hug!

Adam!

I think that is such a wonderful gift and I know you're disappointed...the first thing I thought of was how sometimes when we think it's the pits..years later it turns into an amazing blessing...

My aunt lost her wedding ring in a lake, she looked and looked and looked...never found it, every year they'd return to the lake and she'd look, half thinking she'd find it....20 years later she had a special friend with them on this trip and she told of the story of years of looking, the friend went to the spot where she lost it and there it was....lodged by a rock...it really is nothing in the whole scheme of things, just a stone and memories, but the way it revealed itself again was a memory she'll cherish...hoping that your necklace will find its way home again!

So sorry to hear about it :( What a special brother and uncle you are. Your sister is very lucky to have you in her life!

I am sincerely very sorry this happened to you. That is something that money cannot replace, they are each a memory those pearls.

But perhaps if you keep a little hope in your heart it will come back to her.

My Mom passed away from cancer and left me some jewelry, my pocketbook was taken from my car and had her two rings in it to be repaired at the jewelers. I kept telling my husband that I had a funny feeling that they would come back to me. Two months later the police called and I got my rings back.

I so hope this happens to your sister. But even if not she got to wear it on a most special occasion and I am sure it made the day all the more precious.

Wishing you well,
Fellow Mainer from Auburn,

Can I be your sister??? ;) I usually only wear pearls! Sorry for her loss. Hope there are lots of pics of the 1st draft and that the 2nd round will be better! ;)

Adam, I am so sorry this happened:( But, I think you are a wonderful brother (((hugs)))

What a good brother you are Adam! But, unfortunately since this thread is pretty much off topic for the cruise board I am going to move it to the community board. You will be able to find the thread from the redirect and it will bring you to it. Your sister (and family) is lucky to have you!

Adam, your story is beautiful. Even though the necklace was stolen, your memories can never be taken away.
And it makes me want to start this for my DD. I think I will on this next trip. Thank you for the inspiration.

Adam, I had a feeling that you were a special person after talking to you on the MV thread. But after reading this, I KNOW you are special. What an awesome brother you are and what a great idea. I am soooo sorry this happened to her.
