Live stream discussion - Disney Treasure reveal 11am EST today!

One thing I do wish DCL would add in general is a club/hangout space for adults 18-20. It wasn't until my kiddo turned 18 that we suddenly realized the dearth of spaces really geared for that age group (at least, not without them cutting Vibe in half to do it). Now that one son is an adult, and the other still a teen, they don't make use of any of the teen/adult spaces because they cannot hang out together, and my adult son isn't interested in dance clubs or bars as a place to hang out.

I have seen many questions about where the Fantasy may end up. Rumor we heard on the Dream this summer is that when the third Triton class is finished, the Wonder will stay in Australia/New Zealand, the Dream will end up on the west coast and the Fantasy will do Europe. Don’t know why they would not just keep the Dream doing Europe? Fun to see if any of this ends up being true.

If Fantasy stops the 7-day cruises entirely, it will just be one more reason for us to move on from DCL. We felt like the older ships did a great job of appealing to adults and kids. The Fantasy was our go-to when we wanted to go back to the Caribbean. Our plan was mostly to branch out to other lines in Europe/Alaska, but get our DCL fix in the Caribbean every now and then. I am pretty sure we wouldn't try the Treasure. I have nothing against the theming or aesthetics, which I actually like, but we aren't the target audience for this ship. I don't want to pay a premium to subsidize a ship designed almost exclusively for young children.

Disney would leave a big gap for our demographic (family of four adults) if the Treasure becomes the only 7-day option left in the Caribbean. It's an interesting choice when they are already having trouble filling ships in non-peak times.

Agree. I've now done 2 cruises on Celebrity and have another booked for next summer. I love their new Edge class, and loved my sail on the older, more traditional-style Summit. Especially given that the Edge class has solo cabins with their infinite veranda, I can easily see Celebrity becoming my go-to brand. It's sad because I've loved sailing DCL, but price-wise and pretty much everything else-wise, Celebrity is seeming like a much better fit for my needs. (I do miss the Disney entertainment, but I can always stream Disney+ if I get their higher internet package (still less than Disney's has been).

I have one that I'll soon be booking on the Wish for my best friend's wedding, but that may be it. Sadly one cruise before hitting Platinum status.

Here's my prediction:

Magic: Stays in the Bahamas/Caribbean, with an occasional trip to Bermuda. She will move around a lot with some combo of Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Galveston, and San Juan. Perhaps Port Canaveral. I think Disney wants her to stay closer to home.

Wonder: Remains the West Coast ship. No real changes. Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia from various ports. I will be surprised if she ever sails in the Atlantic Ocean again. She is fitted for the Alaska sailings and has been very popular over there.

Dream: Remains the same, which is what the Magic did for a long time. Bahamas/Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Europe from various ports, and a fall season of Canada and Bermuda from NYC.

Fantasy: Splits time between Mexico and Bahamas/Caribbean. She is moved to Fort Lauderdale to do a mix of itineraries while the Wonder does the Mexico trips. Then when the Wonder moves to Alaska/Hawaii/Australia, she takes over in San Diego until the Wonder comes back.

Am I the only one who smirked when they announced the December 2024 MV date? I guess technically they're keeping their word about the Treasure sailing in 2024 but it's like, could you cut it any closer?

I don't know what I was hoping for. Realistically, no matter how much we heard that guest feedback was taken into account, there was no way the Treasure could be that different from the Wish, other than some theming. Even repeating Worlds of Marvel (which I was not excited to see) is following the same pattern as the older ships so, I shouldn't be surprised.

I guess the good news is, I did actually like the Wish in many respects (not all, but it has its merits). So getting another ship with things like the Festival of Foods is not the worst thing. And while I didn't find many of the space renderings very exciting for the Treasure, I'm hoping they'll look much better in real life.

That release video though! So cringe! Craig's was much more helpful. The thing that struck me (besides the fact that it was 15 minutes of 'why???' and 5 minutes of actual content) was with all the emphasis on family -- how triggering for someone who would love nothing more than to sail with their loved one, but whose loved one has passed? Just feels like the whole thing was not fully thought through.

Pleeease have another ship on the West Coast while the Wonder is in Alaska or Australia! I'm so bummed there are no fall 2024 San Diego sailings.

Totally agree on the adult area criticism , that was a big part of their reputation to have reasonable size places for each type of cruiser - I am truly skeptical that Disney will be able to fill their ships unless they go full time in Europe and other places outside the USA. I’m at a place where my kids have probably aged out - and what’s left for adults is scarce with the cheese factor growing and becoming just more of the same old cookie cutter drivel , and as others have said a night time buffet 100% on board with that. Disney used to be about innovation in entertainment

Me too!! Why are so many of the cruises leaving out of Florida. I’d love a full time ship out of San Diego, especially a summer cruise. It’s tough when wonder only does limited cruises from SD when it’s cold and never aligns with school breaks for us. Maybe a triton ship based in SD? 🤞

As a West Coast person and a big fan of the Dream/Fantasy class... boy I hope that comes true. Maybe we can do a little better than boring jaunts to Ensenada on the Wonder. I'd die to have them sail from San Fran, but perhaps that's impossible... only Princess seems to do it regularly.

Boooo. Really wanted to do a maiden but the Maiden+Christmas prices are a dealbreaker (and missing christmas with family to boot—no thanks).
Yeah, now that I think about it, the fact that doing the maiden voyage *requires* doing Christmas on the ship is frustrating! I get that some people enjoy doing Christmas on a ship, and more power to them. And others may not celebrate Christmas at all, which is also great. But to me, Christmas is all about spending time with extended family, and I am not going to be able to rope them all onto a cruise (nor could they get maiden voyage spots without any Castaway status... heck, maybe I wouldn't be able to down at Gold).

So why would they force people who truly want to do a maiden voyage into giving up Christmas? Really unfortunate...

Pet peeve of mine. When I go to the parks solo with a reservation I get the follow up survey asking about my family’s experience. This one’s even worse because my wife passed away on the Wish.

I will be seriously bummed if Fantasy moves from Port Canaveral. I love that ship. I have read all about the Wish - and I have no desire to experience it, and it sounds like the Treasure is more of the same. And this Marvel stuff - I am so sick of superheroes at this point. I really dislike a Marvel themed show while I am trying to eat. I hate dinner shows in general - keep dinner separate from entertainment.

So what’s everyone’s guess of where the triton 3rd ship will go when it’s ready and what will happen to the rest of the fleet in that move

any guesses

My money on PC too, doing alternate Eastern and Western with Treasure in winter with summer maybe taking the place of the Dream in Europe. A lot will depend on the success of 2023. I have heard that sales for Europe 2023 were disappointing on most sailing. Possible that Magic will return in 2025 as easier to fill and more flexibility in ports.
