You are very welcome, I hope they help you out :thumbsup2

DH pics up the brownie and said taste this...I said no way pal if it is stale just pitch it. He says, Nic just take a bite will ya? So I grab the thing, take a bite and .... went to chocolate heaven . This thing is so dense and so rich and so wonderful that I forgot that I was irritated!
He had to tell you twice to try the chocolate? :confused3  I don't understand :rotfl: especially after seeing the picture! that brownie looked really yummy :goodvibes

Bummer that the Tangerine Daqurri wasn't as good as you hoped for, hopefully you'll find a good drink tonight to make up for it ::yes::

As always, looking forward to the next update :goodvibes

Ok you guys, I found it, an amazing restaurant that is little discussed so maybe not too many people know about it but you all should try it....GRAND FLORIDIAN CAFE! DH and I loved it so much that he wants me to change my Oct dining plans around (yes again) and add it in somewhere.

If it wasnt for the rain DH and I would not have gone back to the room early, giving up our Marrakesh and searching for something else and GFC was it. We arrived at 6:40 and were seated right away (btw it was still pouring out when we left the Poly).

We were seated by the windows in the front section of the restaurant, I would say the place was half full and they were taking walk ups. We had a fantastic host that explained in great detail the menu, he was very helpful.

We decided to start with the Blue Glowtini. It was strong and delish and warm so I had to add ice to it, tasted much better after that.

Our server, Simon from the UK, was amazing, he was so attentive and informative and just a great guy. He was quick to bring out whole grain mini loaves and sourdough rolls. They came with butter topped with a vanilla lime salt. The butter was TDF, to die for, DH loved the sourdough rolls and I had half a whole grain loaf with red currants in it....the loaf is a heavy bread so I didnt want to fill up on that.

DH ordered a caesar salad, we shared it and it was fantastic. Light and super flavorful and the greens were so fresh.

DisneyJune08048-2.jpg

I ordered the shrimp penne with prosiutto and green onions and a ton of parm cheese. This was amazing, better than the shrimp pasta dish from Spoodles I had in June and I loved that dish. There was a ton of shrimp, the sauce was light and the pasta was cooked perfectly, just enough cheese to make you giddy. DH ate some too and he loved it and he really isnt too keen on a cream sauce pasta.

DH had a tough time deciding between the pork chop or the NY strip, he literally flipped a coin and heads was the NY strip so that is what he got. It came with mashed potatoes, fresh string beans, red wine sauce and a pat of blue cheese butter. He likes his meat medium well (I like mine med to med rare) and they did a fantastic job cooking it to his liking. The food runner forgot a steak knife and our waiter was busy so DH cut it with the butter knife and it ran right through the steak no problem. This steak was so tender and flavorful even I loved it! The blue cheese butter pat did not stay on long, it melted right into the steak and omigod it was soooo good. The red wind sauce was also fantastic, it was a thicker style so it really clung to the steak well, DH asked for it on the side and not smothered on the steak.

DH licked his plate clean, I finished all but 1/4 of mine and then Simon came over to explain desserts. He brought out this sampler that was used to describe some desserts and DH said can we order that? I looked at him and said all 4? He cocked and eyebrow at me and said, What better to order to use on the Dis report? Do I have the boy trained or what?

On the lower left side is the lemon cheesecake with raspberry coulis, omigod this is so light and flavorful and fantastic and DH's favorite. On the lower right is the tiramisu with white and chocolate cream on the plate and chocolate covered espresso beans and white and chocolate spirals on the top, this was my favorite and so light and creamy and wonderful.

On the upper left is the chocolate hazelnut mousse cake with crushed hazelnuts, this was DH second fav. It was very chocolate-y and rich but still light and creamy. On the upper right is the key lime with chocolate crust and burnt (like a brulee not tasting burnt) brown sugar topping with a passion fruit coulis on the side. This was my second fav, it was tart and smooth and creamy and it lit up my tastebuds with the sharp lime taste and the rich chocolate finish.

There was a few fruit accents as well.

I am so glad that we tried this place...now DH is so excited to try all new places, we always seem to find a new jewel!

Here is the menu, again sorry for the glare, even with the flash off it keeps glaring off the glass and the bright lights.

During dinner there was a woman being wheeled out on a strecher by the pool area. The waiter said she came in from the rain, slipped on the tile and whacked her head really bad on the hard floor. I have been wearing flip flops the entire time (I dont do close toed shoes or heaven forbid sneakers) and I have been slipping and sliding all over the place....if DH wasnt holding my hand I would have gone down a lot of times. I hope that lady is ok and for everyone that is wearing slippy shoes in the rain please be careful.

And tonight as we watch the fireworks from our balcony DH breaks out the treats from the MK candy shop. He said the rocky road fudge was just ok and I did not like my chocolate oreo covered pretzel...just too sweet. Or maybe we are in sugar shock from our dessert earlier tonight.

Tomorrow we have 10:30 am ressies at Boma, I had it pushed back 40 minutes so we can sleep in a bit before heading home. When I get home tomorrow night I will post my Boma breakfast review but you guys know I am just going to love it!

Any questions just fire away!

:cool1: Reviews and pics!! Thank you!!

at Kona - what's the deal with the "broccollini" I was just reading reviews on allearsnet and so many have broccolini as the veggie! (I think it was LeCellier, no other choice to swap but mushrooms and broccolini!!)

I think Kona has the blue Glowtini's - what is in them?!!! (besides the glow cube!!)

Your Grand Floridian Cafe review is just WRONG!! It is making me rethink my ressies... again!!! esp since they had lots of variety of veggies!! :rotfl2:

Great report..Hope you enjoy your last day. BTW do you have a picture of you guys..? I like to see who i am reading. if that makes sense:)

First, I have to say thank you for leading me to your new report!!:goodvibes

Second, I can't believe by the time I finally get caught up you are almost ready to leave. :rotfl:

Sorry about the weather not cooperating, but hey if you have to get rained out you might as well do it at a fabulous resort like the Poly!! Now you can actually enjoy the Poly and get your money's worth;)

It must be so cool having the parks so empty and the monorail, its like having your own private park!!!

Thanks so much for the CP review, we're eating there for the first time in 3 weeks and 1 day!! Can you tell I'm excited for my trip!:rotfl2: The food sounds good to me and there is such a variety that I'm sure we will have a fantastic meal! I'm bummed about the desserts, but at least there were a few good ones and I'll just hope your dessert night was an off night;)

Okay so the breakfast breads at O'Hana's look so yummy, they make me want to book a ressie at O'Hana's just for the bread. Hmm that wouldn't be the first time I've done something like that. This is the second time you've tempted me to make breakfast ressies, the first time you suceeded and we're going to the Boma buffet, if I could fit more food in my belly I would probably add O'Hana's but for now, I'll have to wait until our next trip! That will give me something to look forward to!!

The GF looks like a fantastic experience!! You've even got me contemplating switching a ressie, hmm again mostly because of the bread... did the pasta dish have a garlic sauce?? Unfortunately, I can't have garlic... insert big  gasp:eek: here.. I know, I know it sucks as all the yummy dishes have garlic in them, but it is what it is and I've learned to adjust, so all if good:goodvibes

I hope you enjoy BOMA, I know you will, and your last morning in the World!! Have a safe trip home:goodvibes can't wait for your last review!!:upsidedow

Great review! And your pics have almost convinced my husband to let me take photos on our trip! :) And thanks for answering a question I have had -- whether you can get the pressed pot of coffee at Ohana. I was really hoping we could, since it's right across the way from Kona and the coffee cart, but I had never heard confirmation of that! That coffee is SO awesome!

Nicki,

Hi, I've really enjoyed your report, you always do such great detailed TR's! I loved all the hidden Mickey's on your desert plate, so cute and that little something special that reminds you where you are! :goodvibes We have a ressie for GFC for September and now I can't wait! Thanks so much for posting not only the awesome food pics, but also the menus. It's so nice to see them since many of the menus online are out of date. That's very thoughtful of you. Enjoy your last day and have a safe trip home!

WOW your reviews and photos are incredible! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much for posting! I have ressies for the GFC and when I saw that the Land and Sea was off the menu I considered cancelling but after reading this I may keep it for the steak and desserts.

I'd been noticing that broccolini business, too! I love broccoli, but that stuff just doesn't look like it would feel good in your mouth. :scared: So it was nice to see some good 'ole green beans in you DH's plate! The kid's menu looked better than average, which is nice. I've been hearing good things about GFC lately.

Have fun at Boma! That's what I'm most looking forward to in January.

It's so sad that you are leaving in the morning. The GFR dinner looked AMAZING! I showed Aaron the dessert plate and he was like yeah I would want it all too. I just laughed at him.
