Live from the Poly Club Level!!

Can you let us know how the morning offerings are in the lounge? We're staying club level at the Polynesian in July and are planning on having our breakfast in the lounge most mornings we're there.

Thanks!:goodvibes

The morning offerings are a pastry with what looks like cinnamon, croissants, bagels with cream cheese, fruit (melon and grapes) and hot oatmeal with dried blueberries and dried cherries that you can add in. You can ask for yogurt but it's not out. :)

Thanks for the live report...:thumbsup2

We are trying out CBR this trip since there are only 3 of us this time and we "technically" don't need a deluxe room.:rotfl2:

Our family of 5 has stayed Poly CL twice and we LOVE it!!!

Trying to decide on our 2011 trip...either back to Poly or try Yacht Club CL.

That stinks about the pool being overcrowded:eek:..it was not that bad last year the first week of June.

Well I'm sure that if you really want to come back to the Poly you can figure out a really good reason too! :goodvibes :)

It was interesting yesterday afternoon - the Volcano pool was closed for a little while due to an "accident" so a lot of people left the pool area. Some of the people went to the quiet pool but a lot of people just left property altogether. ;) One family was discussing if they wanted to try the pool at CR or GF next. :rolleyes1

Watched the EWP from the boat on Sunday night - we got stuck behind them and then got to watch the whole parade from the boat fairly close to it. It was nice! :)

It was so hard not to say more - decided to go with my mother's advise which we all know..." If you can't say something nice...." :rotfl:

Thanks for the pics...I'm sooo excited!!

I just met the famous Chef Dick in the elevator - he's just as nice as everyone says! CL at the Poly is starting to grow on me a little - even though at first I was disappointed with it. BWI's CL is just so much better. That was surprising to me since I thought for sure that the Poly's would beat BWI's.

I do have to say that the coffee in the lounge is absolutely horrid! I can drink three day old cold coffee with grounds in it and be happy, but even I can't drink that swill they laughingly call "coffee" in the Poly lounge. It's strange too - the machines are exactly the same in both lounges!

The offerings at snack time and during the evening offerings just aren't as great as BWI's. We had cheese and crackers and left over desserts at snack time which was super! Here they just don't do that. The evening desserts are a little slim here too. Our first night they only had brownies, cookies, an apple pie tartlet, and little brownie cupcakes with whipped cream on top. I guess I got spoiled by all of the cheesecakes they had at BWI. :)

The service from Lawrence and Allison in the lobby is great though - and It's very nice to go down to change ADR's. :)

So I guess the long and short of it is, that while I do enjoy some of the aspects of CL at the Poly, I will probably only do either TPV or GV in the future.

Oh, and before I forget - the pool temperature here is PERFECT for swimming! :dance3: I love to swim - and it's great being able to get in and enjoy the water this trip. :yay:

It was over NYE this year. It was my first CL stay too - and I loved it!

Just got back from the lounge and had some potstickers cheese and crackers and they had wings too. Yummm....

I have to remember that next time I can either book the DDP or CL but not both - I swear I've gained ten pounds since Sunday! :lmao:

Subscribing!:thumbsup2

I love the live reports...can't wait to hear more.

The pictures are great!! Our first trip to the Poly is almost here!:banana:

OP - Hope your having a great time :goodvibes

Your stories of the crowded pool :scared1:

We are trying to decide between the Poly and YC and spend a lot of time at the pool - especially the quiet pool as we do not like crowded pools. So if the quiet pool at the Poly is busy too :confused3

The views of the castle are just gorgeous... And the size of the rooms w/ the daybed would be great :cool1: but the crowded pool :headache:

Kaffinito,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful pics and antecdotes while you're on vacation. Both are very much appreciated.

Have you heard anything about the Hawaii Bldg closing down for a day next week? I ask because our TA called earlier today with the news that we'd have to stay in another room upon arrival on April 15 because Hawaii would be closed for 1 day for "maintenance". She couldn't elaborate any more than that. We were given the option of staying in another room and transferring to Hawaii on the 16th; or we could stay at the GF (Sugar Loaf) for one day - or our entire 7 day stay.

This just makes no sense to me... I've been on these boards and one other, and for the last 5 hours no one else has rec'd any such news with regards to their stay. So I hope you don't mind if I ask you to keep your Mickey Ears open.

We have 2 CL rooms reserved - it will be a major headache to move & settle in twice - but we'll have to do it, I guess. (I asked about upgrading to the 2 Bdrm Princess Suite, but apparently it's already spoken for.)

Haven't been able to speak directly with IPO due to the late hour, but have left them an email asking for any details.

Would appreciate any info you might offer - if you happen to hear anything....

In the meantime - enjoy the rest of your vacay! It seems very Magical so far! I'm just lovin those pics...

Thanks,

Gretchen

We're getting ready to check out now. :sad2:

I'm fairly certain we will be back next year again though. :)

I will definitly check on the rumor that the building will close one day next week! I also have more pics and tips to post. :). We're moving over to AKL today so I'm really hoping that the check in over there goes well and that I don't have any trouble (again!) with Bell Services. :3dglasses

That time already, Karen? So glad you enjoyed your days at the Poly. :goodvibes

I did chuckle when you wrote that the room was "smallish" - I've never stayed in the older Longhouses and think I'd feel the same way. Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui rooms are huge and the two latter have double sinks in the bathroom. GF & CR rooms are very large as well. So even though the Poly original Longhouse rooms are large, it's easy to be spoiled by the even larger rooms. :rotfl:

Looking forward to "Live from the AKL"!! Hope the move goes smoothly.:thumbsup2

Hope your move goes well, Kaffinito and that the rest of your stay continues to be just as magical!
The mystery of the closing has been solved - they're replacing the beam on the top of the bldg, so Hawaii has to be vacated for one day.
I'm sure we'll be fine. We'll pack an extra bag for the one night stay and make the best of it.
Thank you all for all your help.
Gretchen

Yep- I was just going to post that it will be closed on the 15th. Sorry you have to go through this trouble!

I'll probably go "live" for AKL too - I like writing while we're there. I took some great Poly pics to share and will sorelyiss that wonderful Poly service ( and the oatmeal too) :goodvibes
