Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

Just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to post about their experiences. We are so excited to be sailing in August on the return cruise!

We are especially interested in how the excursions are and experiences from people who 'go it on their own'

Enjoy your cruise and hopefully fair weather will continue!

That sounds like such a neat departure from Caraco! :) Thanks for sharing everything with us so it seems like we were there too. It sounds like DCL has come up with the very best solution to the merchandising fiasco onboard for your cruise. It's nice to know that they can do this and hopefully will avoid it on future cruises.

Thanks to everyone posting on this thread!!! I have been hooked since Saturday and can't get enough. This is an addiction.

I don't know if I missed the answer to this question or not, but are their Golden Mickey Ears onboard? What about othe 50th anniversary items? Is there any mention of special plans for Disneyland's birthday? We are sailing on the 7/17(Disneyland's actual birthday) West Coast cruise and wondering if something special is going on for the birthday.

Thanks again for all the posts and continue to have a MAGICAL cruise

thanks for all the up dates it sounds like everyone is having a great time I have 36 days till we go and we all can't wait.

It sounds like DCL is trying to make amends .. for all the mistakes.

Can anyone post the times for going through the canal -- in either CST or EST reference -- so we can watch?

Somehow I don't think there will be 1200 kids on the August Repo. First - Disney has a limit on the number of children allowed onboard and Second -- tomorrow is the 90 day mark -- full payment will be due . Then on you have dates at the 75 and finally the 60 day mark for payments.

The other night - availability was starting to show up.

BUT - with more kids onboard -- the adults areas will be quieter :goodvibes

I just checked reservations on the DCL site and found the same category cabin for less money. Called them and they told me that I am getting a refund because some taxes went down. Has anyone else had this great news?

First thanks to all the Repo posters WE ARE ALL JEALOUS!

in regards to the quote above maybe they should start with the CC and get their act together their first pins and shirts are easy....

I was told by Disney that the 90 day mark was on the 22 of this month. Is this correct? We have until the 60 day mark becuase we booked before the rule change. But we want our excursions and things so we will be paying the remainder at the 90 mark.

Another question...

Does anyone know how much it cost Disney to go through the Canal? I know it's pricy, but never knew an estimate.

Thanks for all the updates. Can't wait for more! :cheer2:

Travis

DCL also told me that the 90 day mark for the August Repo cruise is the 22nd. As mentioned before, a number of us don't have payments due until June, as we booked before they changed it from 60 to 90 days (?).

We(on the Eastern seaboard) are on CDT I think......it's 1145 here and if you pull up the canal web site it's 1045.

I'd like to know what time she starts through also......I've been pulling the web site up and sort of leaving it as a screen saver and it's so cool to watch these HUGE ships go through the canal. It looks so small....I know it's not....but it looks like it.

So, if anyone can give us an update on the time of the canal crossing....we'd all appreciate it.

Phyllis

Here is another web site with the web cams (all same size). The site also contains cruise ship passage by month as well as selected ship web cam links.
Unfortunately, the Centennial bridge cam is down (stuck on April 27th) with no projected restoration date.

Panama Canal Cams and Schedule

Thanks to all who have posted live. The Curacao departure description brought tears to my eyes.

Enjoy!!!

Some of us landlocked people are trying to find a webcam to view your docking in San Pedro/ AKA Los Angeles Harbor or at least finding ways to take pictures of it. We haven't been able to find any web cam that would have a close shot of the cruise docks. I was wonding, for you early risers, could you take pictures of your docking in San Pedro and post them?

I want to share w/ you all a thread on San Pedro, Calif. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=745887

And here's the thread searching for web cams for the L.A. harbor

Been enjoying your May repo thread. Thanks!

On the Eastbound trip, I was told last night that there are 1200 kids scheduled at this point. WOW!!!! I didn't know that. That will be a problem. Bill

I know from past observation that cruise ships typically enter the canal (Magic will be entering at Gatun Locks for this passage) early in the morning as soon after sunrise as possible since they try to make the passage in daylight and it normally takes about 8 hours (depending on canal traffic volume). Not real helpful I know. I just sent emails to both the canal authority and Disney asking for scheduled entry and exit times. For security reasons they may not be willing to publish, but, it never hurts to ask. Will post the times if they respond.

Maybe someone on the ship knows and can post here.

We are scheduled to start between 6 and 8 am eastern time tomorrow. I'd expect it will probably be closer to 8am as there are some festivities planned for the boat. The cruise channel shows a 6am arrival and 8am departure from Cristobal, and we spoke with the Captain's assistant today who said that we are taking some dignitaries on board, and that several photographers for the ship will be exiting for the day as well. I'm sure that someone will send up the typical Disboard alert. Look for at least 4 or 5 threads tomorrow with the headline "ITS ON THE WEBCAM!!!!!!" and you'll know its time to check.

I personally expect VerandahMan to start 3 of those threads.

Thank you!!!

Sorry to bring up an undoubtedly sore subject, but I am looking for someone who has an extra pin from the first day (Port Canaveral) who wants to trade. I completely missed the pins on the first day but I did manage to get the rest of them (and even without sleeping in line). I'm in room 6105 if anyone has the first day's pin to trade. Thanks!
