The pins are limited to 500 or 1000 depending on the pin. I believe DCL or whomever made a huge mistake in not having at least one complete set per stateroom.

I think that DCL learned their lesson when they made 4000 copies of the one and only special pin for the Inaugural 7-Day Eastern Caribbean cruise of the Disney Magic in August 2000. The ship returned to port with so many of those pins that, on later cruises, they were selling for half price. The Inaugural 7-Day Western Caribbean cruise pin was (I believe) an LE 750 pin.

I hope that DCL works out the details so that each cabin gets an opportunity to buy at least one set in the future. I agree that it makes sense to do that.

BTW - I ended up with 40 of the Inaugural 7-Day Eastern pins and it took me a LONG time to trade them all away.

Seaulater...thanks for all your great information! I booked my Palo ressies(tea and brunch) online too and wondered if they would show up when I got on the ship. That's great to hear no problems.

Hey TC!!! Long time no see!!!!! 4000 would be a lot for a one time sailing, but 1 set per stateroom seems reasonable.

All you WBers, keep posting and letting us know all the details. It has to be a blast!

I have been a Web Application Developer for over 8 years so that one is pretty easy for me to answer.

Ron has a personal website hosted by Road Runner which is an ISP (sorry, Internet Service Provider). He took a picture of the pin with his digital camera and gave it to someone at Shutters to upload to his site (I have been told that Shutters does this although I have no personal experience).

Here is the image on his site -
PanamaLogo.Jpg

After he had the image uploaded he went to the Internet cafe and posted his auction to eBay referencing the image he has on his site.

Any questions? ;)
No questions, just comments and clarification. :3dglasses

Please don't take this as argumentative; that's not my intent. I just wanted to add to the discussion! :flower:

First off, his name is Ken not Ron. :teacher:

Secondly, a more likely scenario for the pic is that the image was borrowed from ODPT.com or PinPics.com (both sites did have it available prior to the cruise), a seller stamp was added, and it was saved to personal webspace either before or during the cruise. Then when the pin was acquired on the cruise, the eBay auction listing could easily be put up with the prepared pic of the pin. This would be a simpler way to do it than spending the time and money while on the cruise to get Shutters to take it off the camera's memory card and upload it. Just my 2 cents!

Btw, for those wondering: Pics from ODPT (Official Disney Pin Trading) and PinPics are routinely used in eBay auctions. It's the norm, so don't think I am faulting for that use! ;)

Yes. My apology to Ken for forgetting his name; I haven't traded emails with him in almost two years.

I could see how the pin photo could be taken from ODPT, but then it would be fairly inconsiderate to stamp a name across the image when it isn't his.
Disney of course has copyrights to this kind of stuff.

I am not interested in an argument either so maybe we should just let this one go.

Buddy Bear, this has nothing to do with anything but I just wanted to say that you have a very cute baby there.

Thanks, you are too kind. Sarah has made the last 15 months of my life an absolute pleasure. She was 6 months at the time and she seemed to enjoy every minute of the trip.

We flew down and spent 4 days at WL before sailing on the 7-Day Eastern Caribbean (P.R. itinerary) which is where all those photos are from. If anyone asks me I highly recommend taking the "little ones". :goodvibes

Are you kidding me, I love just looking at Buddy Bear's posts simply to look at his liitle girl. She is so beautiful!!!! (your words are wise too Buddy Bear ;) )

My baby girl will be 15 months when we sail and I keep looking at your daughter thinking, this is the way that I hope she looks every day of our cruise - full of glee. (I know my son will be smiling from ear to ear - but it will be my daughter's first Disney experience).

OK back on topic, sorry.....

Hi all! I have really enjoyed reading these post. Just for fun I went over to ebay and the cruise pin is now up to $100!!! With 12 poeple bidding on it right now. I LIKE the pins, but I would NO WAY pay that much for a pin!!! I wouldn't sleep out in the hall either, but that's me.

I really hope that DCL takes all of the coments about the pin problem seriously so that the August cruise doesn't have this problem. I wish I could be on this cruise or August's cruise, but I will be on board in spirit.

Can't wait to hear about the updates later on in the week.

Thanks for all the reports!!!

Someone mentioned that they might tip current cruisers off to changes slated to take place during the next dry dock....

Does anyone know when the next dry dock is supposed to take place?

We use Bluesocket (http://www.bluesocket.com/) devices here where I work. Those would totally work for allowing authentication and charging.

From what I've been told, their is concern about a loss of revenue to the coffee shop and photo shop (since people will be able to upload images to home)

Frankly I don't buy it. I think its just winding its way through disney bureaucracy, which can be pretty darn slow some times. From what I was told (And this obviously doesn't mean its true), everything from billing to access points is in place to cover several areas of the ship, it only needs the switch flipped.

From the May Repo Cruise Blog at http://www.comstation.com/cruise/ :

News Flash, really funny

There is a passenger here onboard that had t shirts flown in to Curacao in the matter of a day and a half, they say,
Disney Cruise—$8,000
Logo T Shirt—-Sold Out
Waiting in Line Sleeping on Floor
PRICELESS

Now if this guy can do this with Fed Ex in the matter of days why cannot Disney do this with their own t shirts and pins. I think they need to hire this guy for their purchases or at least delievery. Now we will work on the pins next,,,,

ROFLMAO!!! That is just too funny! Do you think DCL will take it as an indication that if one of their guest can do this...they sure should be able to handle it. :)

Tom???????????????

How can we order one of these shirts??????

We need a ladies "M"!!!!!!

LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
