LIVE FROM THE FORT!!! btw, it totally ROCKS!...Pictures added!

The crane is for removing the wand from the Epcot ball.

The hammocks are somewhat new, I saw them last November. They used to have hammocks on the beach, but for the last few years they had gotten rid of them. I was glad to see they had brought them back, they are VERY comfortable :)

We just left the 300 loop Tuesday morning! I have two golden retrievers -- you may have seen me walking them around the loop.:)

We were in #304 -- it was tough to get into -- we had to get the person across from us to move their vehicle so that we could get in. It was tough on the way out of the loop, too. So narrow and those curves are killer. I walked behind our camper while my dh was driving out of the loop just to see how close we were to everything. Many trees and bushes scraped the side of our camper (around the turns) and many trees scraped the top of the camper -- too many low hanging branches!!!

When dh was driving around the curves in the road his truck was all the way to the right as far as he could be and the tires on the camper were off the road on the left and the bushes were scraping. I had butterflies in my stomach watching from the back!

Wish we were still there!!! Have fun!

How cool...on the spot reporting from the Fort!!! I love the sunset picture of the Contemporary, how beautiful. Have a great trip!!

When we were there at the end of April we saw the new posts for the hammocks but the hammocks themselves weren't up yet.

We enjoyed the hammocks last week!

I know .........I think the other poster is thinking of some vegas hotel;)

The hammocks were up as of last November (not sure how far before that they were up). Perhaps they were down again when you were there, but they were definitely up last November.

Sorry you didn't get to see them when you went. Maybe next time :)

I guess you and I must have been looking at invisible hammocks......:confused3

lol, no, the hammocks on the beach. They weren't invisible, they were there. Unless you think that you can tell me that I didn't lay in one when I was there in November???

Like I said, maybe for some reason they were taken down when you were there, but the hammocks have been there at least since November.

No worries, like I said, maybe next time you visit you'll get a chance to relax on them, they are great!

No need to argue about this, let's move on :)

can't believe i missed TWO GOLDENS on tuesday! we were at MGM that day, sorry to have missed you. we said the same thing about the low hanging branches. you'd think with all this huge RV, especially A's, they'd trim them up better!
i felt so bad for this poor guy that came in an A last night. we saw him sitting in front of us, then going around a couple times, in a complete DOWN POUR, he was trying to back into this site a few up from us. He finally did get in and this morning my husband was talking to him and noticed his whole front end was smashed in. He came in from TX and someone lady cut him off and didn't clear his rig and totally smashed up the front, putting her into a spin off the road. no one hurt that i know of. why do people try do get ahead of RVs like that, you're going to lose and someone will get hurt in the process!

RAIN RAIN RAIN today, standing water is everywhere. it rained all night (the frogs croaking are deafening!), then all day til about 5 and now it is cleared up and outta here but the heat is coming! not sure which is worse! one thing about the rain, it does cut down the crowds. went to ak, not very many people there, rode everest 3 times before lunch, once standby-10 mins. at 10 in the morning and then with fast pass. safari was walk on, dinosaur was about 10 mins.

still having great luck with the buses. this bus system is way faster than the one at okw. no complaints here.:sad2:

this week is going fast!
i took a few pics of the flooded areas. will post them soon.

here are some pics from all the rain we got.

I had never seen these hammocks until last week myself. I went back through my albums and none of my pictures of the beach have any hammocks. They must take them up and down.I guess it wouldn't be that hard there in the sand?!

The way people drive around RV's is troubling. My two personal favorites are people passing that cut you short getting back in your lane (what happened to your neighbor) and the mental midgets that get to the end of the 3/4 mile long ramp and THEN look over to see where they can merge. I have had several people run off onto the shoulder because they didnt plan ahead and there was no way I could get over to the left, notwithstanding the fact that I had the right of way.
I am surprised you dont hear more stories about truckers beating motorists, there is no way I could eal with that every single day.

Thanks a ton for the updates, I have looked forward to them for several days now. It helps to pass time in this exile away form FW.

Man that's a lot of rain! We had similar rain here a couple hours south a few days ago, got almost an inch. Good thing is it drains off rather quickly, great thing about Florida...heh.

And yea, I've noticed that they take the hammocks down at times, not sure why, or if it was just something they were doing during a "testing" phase. When we were there for a week in November, one of the days I remember just seeing the posts, but I definitely know I layed on one at one point. And I haven't been back to the Fort since late November, so there is no way it was another time...lol.

Maybe they are more "permanent" now, I believe they're just connected by a D ring so it wouldn't be hard to take them down at all.

They are REALLY comfortable, and by the way, a great way to see the boat show parade!

Donna, loving the pictures and the trip report, keep us updated! We're currently planning a couple trips to the Fort for this year, and next year we'll be at the Fort a bunch of times. Love seeing all the current going ons!

well, i know it's not much of a trip report, i tend to be very wordy in my REAL reports, lol. this is more of a picture report but its the least i can do to thank everyone for answering my questions about the Fort prior to this trip. i can totally and completely see what everyone loves about this place. i already knew i liked it from staying here in 1999 but we've pretty much been staying at okw since then and don't get me wrong, i love it there too, but this place has a special charm about it, there's nothing like it anywhere in this "world".:woohoo: :thumbsup2

just got a note on our door that the United States Air Force will conduct F-16 jet patrols over the central florida area, which includes walt disney world property from 10-12 tomorrow morning. it says in support of the space shuttle launch on tues. and as a display of their continued dedication to keeping america's airways and institutions free and safe.
i'm glad they let us know, i would have been wondering just what was going on! should be especially cool!
just thought i'd let you guys know, especially the FL locals!

Wow, that's pretty cool. I'll wonder if they'll head down our way a bit ;)

I'll be out working on the house tomorrow around that time, I'll be sure to keep an eye towards the sky...heh.

Hope you get to see them!

I'll be out working on the house tomorrow around that time,

I sure hope you start early, we are supposed to have downpours again tomorrow! That is why I am working on the inside of the RV tomorrow! ;)

And to think at the beginning of the summer, everyone was posting pictures of the FW creeks being dry. It is a nice change to see the water instead of all the dry conditions.

our weather report said only 20-30% chance of rain tomorrow, high of 96, heat index of 105.
anyone have any ideas how to get rid of burned popcorn smell in the RV? popcorn::

i didn't realize this microwave was so strong, i cut down the micro time and it still burned! even the neighbors smelled it, lol! i have a citronella burning outside and i left the door open with screen for awhile.
hey,i can hear the water pageant as i'm typing! i think the sun/swimming beat me down today, i stayed in tonight.
