Donna, in your recent pictures, I've never noticed that wind vane with the bull before. Is that on top of one of the horse stalls?

yes, it's at the very top of one of the bldgs.(in the middle) where they have the trail rides (right behind the outpost depot). KINDA NEAT!

We had planned to go to epcot today but didn't really care when we got there or what we rode. We knew we'd do the left half of future world, whatever we could get done. We hit the green side of mission space. I ended up talking to two nice ladies about DVC, letting them know about resales. We got separated when we had to stand on the numbers, so not sure what they'll decide!
We had Fps for test track so we did that, lotsa fun as usual. For lunch we had ADRs for coral reef but once we got there, it didn't seem like they had much of a selection and it was expensive and we already know their portions are small so we cancelled that and hit the land food court. There's something for everyone here. I had a kids chicken/mashed potatoes and that was just enough for me. We did the land boat ride, mainly cause it was a walk on and it was right there.
We headed back, again great luck with buses. We waited about 5 minutes (I LOVE the location of the fort bus stops at the parks). we literally got off our bus at the outpost and right on to settlement yellow! We came back to find that someone had walked their dog and let them do their business all over the front of our site. not only was it not picked up, it was STEPPED IN! i was really not happy about this at all. We have been here over a week and this never happened. I assumed it was new people that had just come in since it seemed most of the loop was new, and/OR it was little kids walking their dogs and didn't bother or know better to pick it up. We cleaned it up and hosed it down and kept an eye out for dog walkers! we saw two kids walking some small dogs and they 'went' and we let them know they had to pick it up. i don't think it was them (the dog size didn't match the evidence, lol), but just wanted to make sure they knew to pick it up. btw, all the kids in this loop have been really nice, very polite and well mannered kids.
We took a break and wanted to find a good place to watch the space shuttle launch. i called the front desk to see if they had any suggestions. they suggested i look East, LOL! um...i think i knew at least that much, lol. i said i supposed the beach is the best? The cm said no, probably the parking lot at the outpost? i knew that couldn't be right, or as good as the beach. so we headed down to the settlement area, i heard a mudslide calling me (see below), so after cooling off a bit, we went out and alot of others were waiting for the shuttle. We were told near the playground area but i was worried about the trees. i should have listened to my intuition and went out on the beach. We looked east but it never cleared the trees, everyone out on the pier was clapping, lol. oh well, i got a pic of the contrail anyways!
i had debated about getting the buffet to go but wasn't really hungry so i ended up coming back and making something for myself here. dh and son wanted to ride bikes on the trail over to WL so they went and did that.
on the way back here, i see a guy sitting down on the pavement and going online. i thought that was so funny!
Then i pass a cart in our loop that was riding a golden retriever and come to find out he's almost 13! i just love hearing that! molly is only 5.

That was our waitress! I'm pretty sure at least, she bonded with my mom and was making us free drinks left and right (but don't tell her I said that ). We were there at closing time, and no one was in there but my wife, mom, and I, and she treated us like royalty. I'm pretty sure that was her, the fuzzy picture looks like her.

Just showed my wife the picture. She is now officially jealous. Man, can't believe you got to see the shuttle launch while enjoying a drink from Crockett's. That almost sounds like heaven to me.

We tried to see the shuttle today as well, but it was hazy out and we couldn't make it out. Normally you can see it clear as day right from our front yard (and night launces are amazing), was just not clear enough. Kind of stinks because yesterday was crystal blue all day long.

Love that bike ride over to the WL, such a nice ride!

her name was stephanie, for some reason i noticed that.

right after i took that pic of the mudslides, a FLY landed on mine! i said, hell, i don't care if a LIZARD jumps in it, i am DRINKING IT!

i am telling you, the more time i spend down there on those rockers, the general area, the more i love this place and i can't help but say it out loud as i rock on the chairs....gosh i just love this place! i even love the SMELL of the place, the water, the trees, even the HORSES!

i am really going to hate opening my RV door and the fort isn't on the other side. i don't want to even think about it right now!!!

Settlement Trading Post is definitely not opening tomorrow as previously reported on allearsnet! It doesn't look any closer to being finished than was previously posted on another thread:

We went to the DVC Gathering, Summer on the Savanna, this afternoon. It was fun, all the characters were there, free ice cream, cookies, pretzels, punch, even an AKLV HAT! Here's a pic of me and my son and my friend pat (in the middle) with the mouse and his better half!

Yea, definitely doesn't look like the Settlement will be opening today. I can't wait to see some pictures when it re-opens, hopefully they've changed it around a bit, would be interesting to see.

lol, how true! the mudslides are so good, the flies even drink them, lol.
Stopped by the singalong tonight, got a pic of mrs. sundee. hearing her sing made me want to cry! i guess since our two week trip is coming to an end and those songs, well, i love those songs anyways and just hearing her sing them made me sad and happy all at the same time.
i asked about settlement trading post opening soon. Today, they were painting the front porch, could not walk through the porch area. anyways, the guy said "not any time soon" but he didn't know the date exactly.
like i said in another post, a travel trailer tried to back in to site 317 and hit the water pipe and water shot out like a geyser. so all the water to the loop was turned off but we didn't know til we went to use it. i called the front desk, they knew nothing, but the guy next door told me. so the travel trailer guy ended up in the site next to us.

thanks! you'd have to feel her to believe how soft she is, like silk! She is so lovable, we always say she'd make friends with a rattlesnake!
i'm sure mrs. sundee will be performing, she does most nights of the week. others on this board can tell you her nights.
i forgot to add, she noticed my husband had a grumpy shirt on and said, are you with grumpy? i said, does that make me dopey? she said, it COULD make you HAPPY! then she said, always remember, the glass is HALF FULL. i thought that was so nice of her and so true!

Forgot to mention, the refillable mug they have now at the Fort is not resort specific, it is the same one that ALL THE resorts have (thus is good everywhere, not just here at the fort). i will try to get a picture of it. Does that stink or what.

We just returned last night from Fort Wilderness. We were in the cabins 2300 loop. We were there from 8-2 until yesterday. Did you take the shuttle pics from the beach. I took mine at the beach and got it right when it took off and had the long orange tail. Pic came out good. I am still uploading all of my pics to my desktop and organizing them. I will be posting them to my trip report. Sounds like you are having a great time. Boy it was HOT HOT HOT. We decided we were not doing parks this trip; just pool, a little pin trading and watching the fireworks from the beach. We went over to the Poly one night for that. Fireworks are great to watch from Poly's Beach.

I wish we would have been there the same time as you and done some pin trading. That would have been fun. Next time we stay at the fort I'm gonna plan some fun things to share with fellow campers. Not sure when that will be, but I'm gonna have fun planning.

Oh and as for "Molly", oh my goodness, I can attest to how soft she is. I mentioned it to Donna when I was petting. That's why in my trip report I said she'd make a great sleep companion as she'd make a nice soft pillow! She is such a sweetie.

Donna I have loved your pics. I wish I could figure out why mine post so fuzzy and not clear like yours and others? any suggestions? I scan the pics, then dowload them to photo bucket and paste IMG image here. SO what's happening you think?

you know, i was thinking. we need to do more things when we're here, lol. i was thinking, how cool would it be if Pluto visited the pet loops once a week to get pet photos with the disney pets! Or how about having a pet parade through the loop with all the dogs. man,that would be fun!

as for your pics, here is how i do mine. i have a sony cybershot camera that i connect directly to my laptop and i upload them to shutterfly (for family) but once they're in MY PICTURES, i go to photobucket and pull them directly from my pictures file and then post the image. you might be losing some quality in the scanning process. the img quality is probably lower from scanning. what megapixel is your camera? that also could affect the quality to begin with. i think i was using a lower quality to save space and upload time; i think i used 3.0 mp. Still, i've enjoyed your report all the same!

ok, going to walk molly now and i want to get a picture of the new mickey light posts that just moved in! our last day....waaaaaaaaahhhhhh

i am going to try to get a picture of those mugs for those that haven't seen them.
we are trying to make the most of this last day, just got off the sea raycers. funny thing is, before...i would have spent the last day in the parks for as long as i could. Now, i just want to spend it at the fort. i go to the parks 3-4 times a year, but i will only be here ONCE a year. We are both retired, what is wrong with this picture, lol. i work part time at petsmart, i wish they'd build one at the fort, lol.
