LIVE FROM THE FORT!!! btw, it totally ROCKS!...Pictures added!

that one on the porch reminded me........are those nasty ashtray stumps still there????????

Don't worry, like was said before, they are gone, they are not there, they aren't coming back ;) You've asked this like 3 times now, trust me, they ARE NOT coming back!!

Anyways....

Ahh, home....lol :) Great picture, thanks!

I don't know if the stumps are there but people still smoke on the porch.:headache: They were smoking around the pool, too.

I am not surprised.............but be careful about asking smoking questions......:sad2:

BACK to the topic, Donna, sounds like you're having a blast and really having fun reading what you write, and more so seeing the pictures ;) Can't wait for the full trip report!

P.S. Where did you get that Mickey topiary that is in your sig? Did you make that or purchase it somewhere?

I got that topiary at disneyshopping.com and also have a great pluto one. they still do have the mickey one but no longer have pluto. i might get another one just for bringing to the fort.
my yard at home is all mickey gardening things. people literally drive by slowly and bring their kids, lol!

HOT HOT HOT at the fort today. we took our car back and bused over to magic kingdom. got there too late, way too crowded. lines were long, even though mondays are usually good mk days. came back to nice cool rv and took a nap and then headed over to espn club for dinner, dh wanted wings. they said hour and a half wait, which turned out to be 20 mins. Came out to an unexpected downpour and since we didn't have a car, had to get creative in getting back to the fort. our plan was to bus back to MK from boardwalk, then boat to fort but an AK bus came first so we decided to take that and jump on a fort bus over there. ugh, major crowds at AK, we didn't make the bus that was loading as we arrived but made the next one fine. feels good to be back, it had rained here too, molly was happy to see us. pics to follow!

Here are a few more..of main street. this is what happens when you take an afternoon nap, you're not tired!!!

I'll have to look for that Mickey one, thanks for the info!

Love the new pics by the way. As for AK being packed, is there anything worse than high heat and the humidity of a recent downpour while walking through AK? At least the trees are all higher now, so there is more shade, but man, that park can get downright uncomfortable at times.

P.S. I've had the wings at the ESPN club, they're great. They have a special name for them, I think they call them "Red Wings" because of the hockey team, I can't remember if that's the name or not. I just remember they were red tinted, and they were good :)

Yes! red wings was the name, my son and husband got two orders, one mild and one hot. you could even smell them on the bus, the ones that were left.
speaking of the ak bus, there was a family in line behind us and the kid had a complete meltdown. he was at least 12 or 13 and was screaming at the top of his lungs how it wasn't fair he had to go home cause of his dad or something like that. he was swearing alot. the parents must have seen this before, they calmly tried to calm him down and then i heard them say "ok, we'll stay". not sure what was going on there.
forgot to mention the other night, spent the evening on the tavern porch in a rocking chair with a mudslide, listening to water pageant music. it truly doesn't get any better than that! i will draw on that memory for a long time. going to try to hit the campfire tonight. can't believe we haven't been there yet. two weeks isn't long enough, lol.

You must be part of my family....lol. My wife, mom, step-mom, they are obsessed with the mudslides at Crockett's. I swear I think they have to buy a couple of extra buckets of ice cream every time they walk in the place...lol.

I just talked to my wife and told her about your story of sitting in a rocking chair with a mudslide listening to the water pageant, she said it's not fair and you're teasing us...lol ;)

LOL, sorry to tease! but here's another one...we will probably do it again before we leave!!:goodvibes
my son got a virgin mudslide (aka chocolate milk, he's only 12), lol. he said its like drinking melted chocolate and even THEY are the best he's ever had!
EVERYTHING is better here!
hey, would you like me to take a picture of our next one, so you can have a virtual mudslide? pass it around the family! lol! hold ya over til your next fort trip!

ok, having a mike's hard lemonade in lieu of the mudslide tonight, but i will be getting another mudslide, so i will post the pic when i do!
we biked over to WL and ate at roaring fork tonight, nothing special but we weren't hungry enough for the trails end. came back to someone backing in a class A a few sites down and heard a C*R*A*C*K..i guess the guy didn't notice how close the tree was and cracked his mirror. note to self: never arrive after dark at the fort, especially if in 300 loop. he was taking it pretty well, the wife wasn't.
going to have an ice cream cone, not sure how good that goes with a mike's, lol.

sounds like a nice day. How is the heat?

I have never eaten at the roaring fork, is it any good?

It was just okay. mind you, this was 8:00 at night, so the food was somewhat...well, not real fresh, lol. still, it wasn't BAD bad, just not the sizzlin cheeseburger i'd prefer! DH said the flatbread pizza was good.
heat is stifling these last couple days. humidity hasn't been as bad though. i can tell from my hair , lol. this evening was very pleasant, nice evening to ride bikes. was thunderingfor awhile, tried to spit some rain but nothing came of it.
are these buses pretty new, i mean, the pre-recorded message and music themed to your resort and to your destination? they are great! so much easier to hear than the bus driver talking. i know my last trip in april, they did not have the pre-recorded spiel on the buses.

Or in the 1900 loop aka Neptune Gulch, on our first trip in our second trailer we had this loop and arrived late, that is one dark loop with a slight drop off near the site, i knew we would be arriving after dark and installed some back up lights on the trailer and we needed those that night.

Donna, in your recent pictures, I've never noticed that wind vane with the bull before. Is that on top of one of the horse stalls?
