Maria,

Do y'all have a thread going yet for your 2006 Turkey Day Gang? I will have to drop in there from time to time, just to keep your new Turkeys in line!

W

Willie-Please do as the thread needs some excitement.I didn't start the thread someone else did.I saw your name on there. It won't be the same without you all,but we can always hope for 2007 that you all will join us again.

Brilliant? Not really.

Twisted? OK, maybe a little, but hey, who isn't?

Maybe I am going to have to sign up for that 12/06 cruise and give that thread a jump start.

As I've said before though, Mrs. TCD says no way. Hmmmm. I wonder if they would mind Dad being away for Chirstmas? As long as everyone gets their gifts, maybe not.

TCD

I think you need to jump in on the Thanksgiving 2006 thread. It won't be the same without you all.Can we borrow the girls that week?

As you all know by now, the Dis'ers owned the Magic for the week of Nov. 19th. I "accidently" found my way into the crew's quarters, and now share a rare behind the scenes photo:

Also, while I was enjoying my tour, I happened upon this top secret publication:

DCLcrew.jpg

So, you all want some inside information? What special cruises are going to be offered in 2007? Some staff gossip? When is the new ship going to be built? Private e-mail addresses for Captain Tom and the staff? It's all in this secret publication! Not really, it is actually pretty boring. Definitely not worth the time I had to spend in the brig after I got caught wandering in unauthorized areas.

Do not try this on your cruise.

TCD

Just you would do something like this.Poor Mollie! No wonder she is so quiet, but to be with you she has to be! :rotfl2:

Sherri,

The rep I spoke with told me that we will be on an early flight from Houston and a 12:30 ish flight back home, but we won't have details til about 30 days out. I won't accept not sitting together, or anything less than a direct flight. Continental has about 6 per day from Houston. Also Southwest has some direct flights. So there should be no reason for us to not be nonstop.
I really like the idea that I won't have to fool with my bags from airport to ship, then ship to airport.
Here is what I estimate I spent this year.

Airfare
$282 PP= $1128.
Limo(splurged again, but was not as cool when DD's knew about it this year)
$330
Cab from Airport to hotel- $40
tips at hotel up to the room-$10
tips at hotel down to limo $10
tips at port bags to room $10
tips at port bags to limo $10
tip at airport bags to plane $5

Total spent $1543

Cost this year 4 @399.40 PP = $1597.60

A little more, but no headaches for Willie--priceless..

Willie,

Without a doubt I topped that as we took town car from home to airport and a stretch to port and then a towncar backto MCO and then another towncar back home from PHL... (those trips alone cost $500 w/o tips) PLUS i got taken at PHL when we arrived this guy gave me a heavy bag speal(sp?) which I had weighed and looked online about - then he tells me rules changed since they merged with America West (?)... anyway he ended up with $26.00 after he asked me how much it was worth not to pay the $50.00 ... ok I'm sure I was a sucker... but in the end all my bags were tagged priority and came off of the plane first :earseek:

anyway I agree even if it cost MORE - which I sincerely doubt - the hasslefree no bag group is where I wanna be... I'm going to check into it tonight...

about the not sitting together I witnessed it in March when we went to Universal and a lady and two young children were just returning from their cruise and she was like "what the heck did they do?"... no one moved for her and they were all over the place... and then again on the way home this time... I think I read something about it too when I checked into it ... like they take the leftover singles to get you seats...

Course I gotta watch my Eagles tonight :bounce: hey... they might not be the team this year but they are still my team!!!

I'll post when I get my info!

You will have to let us know what you think about RCL.My brother has been after me to try another cruise ship.I look forward to hearing all about it.I think you need to tell Kim I will go on RCL if we can go in November on DCL besides December :rotfl2: I mean you may need two cruises on DCL this year to recover from RCL!

OMG!!!! HALF???!!!
Good grief! After the lousy weather, missed ports, high $$$, and over a week of dry land swaying upon return, I was about to give up cruising all together, but for THAT price!!!... :goodvibes
We've been on a 4day w/ RCL before, and we were pretty impressed w/ the quality...it was my 1st...DCL my second & 3rd, so to the best of my recollection, they did a pretty great job!

O.K., on a serious side.......someone else had "bites" on their legs? Me and Alli had them from our knees down.....like a bunch of flee bites.......small mosquito bites... :confused3

Yeah, we had bites all over our legs after the 2nd "dip" at CC. DW, got some sort of blistering on her face also.

Doogie, it's about time! (Any other Turkey Day cruisers out there? We have to keep this thread active! )

So, no one is going to flame us either if we confess that we're booked over springbreak on RCCL as well? :duck: Long story, but we've convinced another family (with whom we're friends) to go on a cruise. They have two kids (one's a teen) and RCCL is more affordable. We already know it won't be as great as DCL , but thanks TO DCL, we're hooked on cruising! :boat:

We realized along time ago that every other cruise line will fall short because it is "all about the mouse". We were raised children of Walt Disney and he taught us what it means to dream; we will teach our children the same.

We cruise on DCL for the Characters, the Cast Members, and everything that is Disney. You can build the greatest ship in the world, but you won't have the "Magic".

DH and I agree totally with you.I mean we have no kids from what you saw at the Pub that night, but we love the mouse and the magic.I don't think there is another ship out there like the Disney ships. You get what you pay for, and you are paying for the Disney magic and the mouse with DCL.

Right on BuddyBear!

All of you thinking about other cruise lines need to think about what Jeff is saying. Before finally trying DCL, we have cruised RCCL, Carnival, Princess, and when they were still around, Premier Cruise Lines.

Granted, DCL's competition is great about coming up with attractive gimmicks to get people to cruise with them e.g. skating rinks, rock climbing walls, Johnny Rockets restaurants, etc.

It is also true that we have always had a great time on every cruise we have taken on those other cruise lines.

But, there is something special about DCL. One very clear difference is the attitude of the staff. Everyone on the ship bends over backward to make your experience great. We have never experienced that type of consistent attitude on any other cruise line. Another clear difference is the quality of entertainment. No cruise line can compare to the quality of entertainment provided on DCL. Then there is Castaway Cay. For those of you who have not been to other cruise lines' private islands, you have no idea how nice Castaway Cay is. All other cruise lines require you to take tenders to their islands, and none of them have the kinds of facilities that you find on CC. I cannot remember what cruise line it was, but I remember one private island that did not have any fresh water. The showers were salt water, and the bathrooms were not clean.

I think it is neat that some of the new ships have mini golf, climbing walls, skating rinks, and now even surf simulators, but these are all things that can be done at home if you really want to. In our experience, all of the cruise lines do a pretty good job with the food. What it boils down to, then, is service. Disney knows how to provide great customer service, and that is the one area where the other cruise lines will always lag behind.

Go ahead and try the other cruise lines, you will see what I mean.

See the guy back by the rail without the green t-shirt?

On the last night of our cruise, I saw him talking to Doogie up on Deck 9. I was walking by, and stopped to say hello. He admitted that he was a lurker, and that he had read all 5000 posts on our meets thread, but had never posted!

I believe he said that his name was Abel. Well, Abel, if you read all of our other posts, I'll bet you are reading this thread, and I am outing you!

Why don't you register and make your first post on this thread and tell all the people how much fun you had watching us all week?

Come on, lighten up and have some fun! Life is short.

Did anyone else meet this guy?

TCD

Yeah, we met him the last night. He walked up and knew all of our names and what we did. Then he got this funny look and said something about the walls in his house are covered with pics of Lampy in drag.....And how easy it was sneaking those knives onboard.....And Lampy was coming home with him.....

Just kidding, Ron-O !!

He seemed like a really nice guy. He is from California. I asked him to post his thoughts on the cruise. I also met a guy from my hometown at the DVC meet that had been lurking and reading the posts. He knew lots of info. Turns out he went to high school with Mrs. W and they knew each other. He even knew what exactly night I missed Romantic Turndown, but he didn't wanna talk too much about that... Gee, I wonder whats up with that?

Great price, but good luck making a 9:20 return flight!

Are you guys taking the kids in Feb? And as far as the prices, February will be cheap rates, even on DCL, because the kids are in school usually. When is y'alls Spring Break?
