Hi all!

We are here on our first DVC stay. We are owners at OKW but have decided for this trip that we wanted to be close to DTD so we are at SSR. We arrived here at supper time on Wednesday (the 7th) and are here until the 22nd. We left home from Regina right before some snow hit. Yikes!

People on this trip our DH, DW and DS (2). Also, joining us this trip is DMil and DMil's BF. We have 2 studio rooms.

We are really taking it easy. So much so, we have only been to the parks one day since we got here. The other first for us is our rental vehicle. We feel that we got a good deal on a mini-van for $199 plus tax per week. We are loving being able to drive where we want to go. GPS is amazing.

We had the best meal we have ever had on property at Cat Cora's new restaurant. So yummy! We also ate at Turf Club and would recommend it to all.

If anyone wants us to check into anything or has questions ask away.

:cool1:We love The Turf Club, we plan to eat there next month. Great deal on the mini van....how did you get that price?:confused3 Have a great vacation!!

The rental van was dumb luck. I was checking the rates back in April or May and found a deal for vans in Florida. It didn`t cover our dates but I went through trying to reserve it and it worked out. It was through Alamo. We didn`t know it was a great rate until DH actually went and got the van. The person at the counter let him know the person in front of him in line got a mini-van for 2 days for $199.

WOW - Great rate on that van. If we got that, we'd fly and rent rather than rent one here and drive! Good job:)

I'm glad you're enjoying your trip! It's a nice long one too...I'm so jealous! :lmao: I just returned Sunday. I too was at SSR in Congress Park. How are you holding up with that heat and humidity? Has it cooled off yet?

I was fortunate enough to get into Cat's new restaurant last Thursday. I was doing my yearly solo trip and couldn't get an ADR when I tried earlier. So I wandered over to the Boardwalk and checed at the restaurant directly and low and behold they had a table for one and I was seated almost immediately!!! Loved the food. Service was still great in the old Spoodles style.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!!! :thumbsup2

What area are your studios in! and do you like the location or would request a different building next time?

P.S. I love to be near downtown Disney!

Our home is SSR. It has been awhile since we stayed, and I do miss the place. We are arriving this Saturday but staying at AKV this time. We have wanted to try all the resorts, but I cant wait to get back to SSR.

We are thinking of doing the Turf Club this coming week. We did not make an ADR, but might try one night!

Enjoy your vacation!

I think you'll enjoy the Turf Club. I don't think you'll need an ADR. I walked into Cat Cora's new place without one and was seated within 15 minutes. Ok; I was alone, but the place was not filled to capacity. Have a great time!!!

We are in the Springs in 3412 & 3436. 3412 is facing water and 3436 is facing Broadway street. My mom is in the Broadway street location and it is kinda noisy with delivery trucks and traffic but 3412 is great for noise (or lack thereof). We are happy to be on the 4th floor for use of the balcony with our 2 year old. Had we been on the main floor he would have been able to run away from the room so we would not have been able to use it. Only problem we have had is he has thrown a few toys over. Yikes! Our room is showing some wear and tear and we are missing some of the things that are on the list. We did not phone because between the 2 rooms we have everything we need. Before we leave I will make a list so it is not missing for the next guests. We are in close walking distance to main pool and lobby and a reasonable walking distance to downtown Disney. We are surprised at how busy Artist Palette is especially for breakfast. For the Turf Club we did not make a reservation and got in easily. We sat outside and watched the water. It was a great meal.

We have borrowed movies from community hall. Our son has played there. I am considering a spa treatment. We went to OKW and checked it out there. Our son played in the sand and in their community hall. We were supposed to go for the campfire at OKW but did not make it. Maybe another night. Any other suggestions of things we should be enjoying?

We got the quick service plan (on 1 room) and that has been working great for us. We have been using all our snack credits at F&W festival. Normally we would not have tried all of the different items but considering we have 60 snacks we can and I am loving it. The counter service meals we have enjoyed so for are Artist Palette (many times), Wolfgang Puck Express (cannot say enough good things about this) and Cookes of Dublin (also very good DH had scallops, so good!). We are tracking our costs and think that it is a good value for us. I am also tracking the dessert costs because I am not sure how often we would have really got dessert. The good thing is though you can get things like a fruit cup that is good for breakfast so it kinda works itself out.

The heat has been intense and has not really let up. I hear its supposed to cool down on the weekend.

Yesterday we went through the preview centre. Both places (AKV & BLT) look amazing. I think we could be happy at either one. The other night I made a T-shirt at DTD. It was the one that says Happily ever after and has a silhouette of Mickey and Minnie kissing. I inserted Danelle loves Kim and surprised DH wearing it yesterday. He asked where his was but I was not sure if he would want to wear one so I did not make it. Maybe he will surprise me this week???

OK we are heading off to Magic Kingdom. Hope you all have a great day where ever you are.

Sounds like a wonderful family vacation, I'm enjoying your trip report!

I love reading about your trip since I do wish I was still there! I know where you're staying; it's a nice area. I was in the Springs last October.

Hopefully that heat will diminish within a few days. I have never been to WDW in October and have heat like we did last week!! But none the less it was a great trip!

Artist Palette is a nice place for breakfast if you get there before 8 am. After that it's very crowded. Glad you liked the Turf Club. That's one of our favorite restaurants.

Well I hope you enjoyed the MK today and that the heat wasn't too bad. Enjoy the rest of your trip and please continue your reports. Makes coming back to the "real world" easier!! :rotfl:

Thanks for all the responses to our trip report. We are a little boring in the fact that we have been to Disney many times so we are just laying back and relaxing this trip which doesn't make for interesting posts.

Our son doesn't enjoy rides. Looking through his eyes I don't blame him. They are loud and dark. However today we braved a few with him and he did well on all of them. We went on the carousel, Dumbo, Mickeys Philharmagic, Its a Small World and Peter Pan's Flight. DH, Mom and boyfriend also went on Snow White and Haunted Mansion. We went for lunch at Columbia Harbour House and then mom and I went and looked through the shops on Main Street. We didn't buy anything but I sure like to look. Makes me dream about when I win the lottery what I will buy. We are now back the resort resting.

This is such a wonderful place to be with family. I am so happy DH and I could buy the timeshare and then in turn share it with our family who otherwise couldn't afford to come. Makes things even more Magical for us.

Very eloquently stated, that's why DVC works for my family and probably so many others.
