Live from okw day 2

Well day 1 was travel day and flying in from the 'burgh was tiring with our 2 & 5 year olds and DMIL & DFIL (who is not fond of flying). So we had a quick dinner at Goods 2 Go and it was decent for burgers and fries!!! First time at OKW and first time for 2BDR (ded). WOW are the rooms here HUGE!!! DFIL & DMIL think it is amazing!!!! We gave them the master since it is DFILs b-day trip!!!

Day 2 we went to HS and although hot we had a great time!!! The lines and FP for Toy Story Mania were much shorter than when we were here in Oct and we LOVE this ride!!!

Lunch at Pizza Planet as DD thought this was a cool place!! Second time for Block Party Bash and DD5 danced her little heart out!!! The highlight of the day was dinner at Cape May Cafe There are not enough words for this fabulous buffet!!! DH and DMIL do not do seafood and had more than enough to eat the ribs and chicken were great!!! DFIL loves clams and DD5 ate them with him and liked them!!!! DD2 who is picky and teething ate oyster crackers and chicken nuggets and I should have just had dessert!!! Oh my the german chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake

We rented a van for the first time and so far have enjoyed the freedom!!! More tomorrow!!!

Glad you like OKW. It is our home resort. We also love the roominess of the 2 bedroom. There are usually 4 or 5 adults in our group and everyone has their own space.
Try Olivia's for dinner or lunch. It is a great place. We also love Cape May Buffet for dinner. Can't wait until our next trip, even though it is not until January I hope we can wait that long. We may try something for August, but it is so hot

We are in building 12 - HH request at ressie. Directly across street from HH. Only downside (for DMIL) who has some trouble walking is we are in the second floor with no elevators. Certainly not enough of a problem to worry she is actually doing well and LOVES the room. They stayed with us at POFQ in Nov 07 and their previous trip was off-site. We have a rental car so we drove from HS to the Beach Club but could have easily boated there from HS.

If you are wondering around the resort, let us know if the construction is finished in the cluster that includes building 25 (this first cluster on the right after you go past the cross road to HH.

Thanks for sharing. Glad you are enjoying the 2br, they are amazing. We were there last Oct. with family and had a 1br and a 2br. Love, love, love! OKW is our home resort and we love everything about it, especially the boat to DTD! Looking forward to the rest of your report. Have a great time!

Thanks for the live report! We'll be there on Aug. 23, requested HH as well, and are staying in a 2 bedroom with friends (8 of us in total). They went with us two years ago and absolutely loved OKW and our 2 bdrm. We tried to convince them to try Kidani, but they will not give up OKW. We don't mind, as it's our favourite! Enjoy, and keep us posted!

So our plan was AK for the day and off we were at 8:30am. We are loving having the rental car - who knew the parks were SO close???

We had reservations for Tusker House at 10:15am, so we wondered the park for a while taking photos and looking at the monkeys (never saw them in our 4 previous trips!!!) Our girls thought they were great fun!!

Tusker House was great!!! whcich we already knew. Today was Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. DH and DD5 think Jungle Juice is the best!!! and overall the food and service were great. Although we did learn that the tip is automatically included in parties of 6 or more so our waitress at Cape May last night actually got a 38% tip it helps ease the pain that she was GREAT!!! From now on I will look at the checks and not leave that to DFIL and DH.

After TH we went to the Lion King - a family favorite and then Nemo - which was DMILs request. She thought it was wonderful and we agreed since this is another must see for our family!!!! Unfortunately we had planned a return to the room due to two tired girls ( who thought 5:30am was an appropriate wake up time). They fell asleep on our way so DH kindly let me go into the World of Disney (DTD) without extra hands. And then back to OKW for dinner in the room. Homemade sauce with meatballs was waiting in the crockpot for penne!!! Yum and off to bed to begin Day 4!!!

I will check out building 25 tomorrow!!!

You are making me homesick for OKW, not only our home resort but our favorite resort. It's nice to read that the vacation has a little something special for every one. Last year we had a big family reunion and for the young ones, we also did the Tusker House Character Breakfast, which I think is one of the best.

FYI I know last week (checked out Thu), they had the South Point bus turnabout area blocked off (with fences hiding dumpsters) so I think htey moved the renovations to a different area as this is on the left/same side as normal SP bus stop. They setup an earlier, temporary bus stop/tent shelter. . . . unfortunately I was on 2 busses that missed the well placed and lit temp bus stop signs and had to carefully go around the final turnabout which was not intended for bus use...

Hey just wanted to say that if you ever stay in a room with a kitchen it's always a good idea to order groceries from www.gardengrocer.com. It saves tons of money on breakfast and lunch. We sometimes do a few dinners too.

Today we went to EPCOT and the flower and garden festival was beautiful. It might be me but it seemed so much hotter today than the other days. We started out at the living seas to ride the clam mobile and do turtle talk and then off to our lunch reservations at Le Cellier. Our whole fam gave this two thumbs up!! The cheddar cheese soup was awesome and the bread!!! Mygirls the pretzel bread!!! Oh then the food!!! DH and I had steak burgers (I don't do steak and cannot do uncooked meat so you know something is good when you get it well done and it tastes Great!!! DFIL and DMIL got the filet and said it melted in their mouth. So it was a great experience!!! Oh and no tip included here as DD2 does not count!!! Oh how I wish I could understand all these rules!!!

Then we went to get DD5 her Team Possible secret info - if she knew I was writing this she would flip out!! Her and DH went on the mission and DH said he enjoyed it as much as she did!!! While they were saving the world DD2 and I went to see Tigger, Pooh and Eeyore - this was the ONE bright spot in her teething, tantruming, crying day!!! And then we continued on to see the rest of the world. We decided to head back to OKW at 3pm when DD2 began a tantrum to make others stare. So back in the room we had dinner (tonight was roast - in the crock pot- mac and cheese and veggies) and then to the pool since DD5 was so good all day. She LOVES the slide here and although she got a mouth full on her first try she kept going!!

So day 4 was much better than day 3 and now I am getting that sick feeling in my stomach knowing that we are going to have to go home in 2 days!!!

Now, to a question: How are the beds in your rooms? We stayed at OKW the past 12 years and loved it, but on our last trip in Jan. the bed was so hard it was unbearable!!!

It sounds like a great day at Epcot! I am happy you had such a great time. I love Le Cellier too - that soup and the pretzel bread make it worth the trip. My DH has still never eaten there. We'll try and score some ADRs on our next trip.

So day 4 was much better than day 3 and now I am getting that sick feeling in my stomach knowing that we are going to have to go home in 2 days!!!

This sounds like me. I always get sad when we are past the half-way point. The beauty of DVC is knowing that another trip is coming.

I want to know about the bed comfort, too...dying to try OKW, but DH and I are not happy in an uncomfortable bed!
